Voice control and smart home

I’ve recently upgraded to the S2 app. Using the original Sonos app I had issues every now and again e.g. silence from Alexa when making requests. To fix I would unlink everything and start again. This always worked. Using the new S2 app, I’ve just tried to unlink and start again for the first time as Alexa responded with silence when I asked it to play a song. When I try to link the Sonos skill to the Alexa app it says unable to link Sonos at this time, please try again later. This is infuriating. The money these speakers cost and the size of the companies involved i.e. Amazon, you would think more time would be invested in R&D before rolling out a buggy product/service. Can anyone please suggest a fix?   I’ve already unlinked Alexa, Spotify and the speaker system from S2 app and reset the app (though when I re-open the app after a reset it does auto-find the speaker system on my network). I recently google for voice on my beam. When  i say a command like "play elton John", I get the reply " playing a playlist of elton John on Spotify" (which is what I would expect), followed by "sorry,   I don't understand". then nothing is played. There are no other people or sounds in the room when this happens. I have tried a few times with the same results. Any ideas?  

Hi Guys, Quick question regarding the google assistant.  I have a setup in the living room with 1 Google One, and 2 google One SL’s. They are all 3 combined in a group. When I want to change the volume using google assistant, it only changes the volume of the One that has the microphone. They other One SL’s stay at the same volume. What am I doing wrong? Sonos hive, seeing if anyone else is seeing this issue. I upgraded to S2 and did a full redetect of every device in my Sonos system. All are compatible with S2 and all upgraded successful. Alexa detected my SonosOne and picked up all my devices. So far so good.  My SonosOne was not showing the mic active. I figured out this was due to the voice service not being set right. I went through pass after pass of trying to get it working only to be stopped by the dreaded error that sonos could not make the amazon account "There is a problem adding Alexa." I have tried multiple speakers alexa enabled sonos speakers; same issue. I have also ripped out the sonos skill and put it back to no avail. It all worked under S1 software. And all the Alexa-Sonos groups and play services work. So this is limited to just voice services. What is interesting is I CAN successfully add the Google Assistant service without issue. So I  thinking this is a compatibility issue with S2 and Alexa. Anyone else see

I have figured out how to turn off the Alexa “wake” tone, but now I have a tone that plays after Alexa responds to a request.  I have not been able to find anywhere in either the S2 app or the Alexa app.  Does anyone know how that is controlled?

Hi. Newbie here. I just bought a 2nd Gen Sonus One and I'm SOOOOOO disappointed. The sound is superb for such a small piece of kit but… the insanely high volume of Alexa's voice in relation to music means we simply can't bear to use Alexa at all, so we're just using the One as a mini speaker with no smart functionality.  What a waste.   I can see this is a problem for many people on here: if you turn the volume down so Alexa's voice isn't shaking the walls, then your music/content is inaudible. And if you play your music at an average volume, then Alexa can be heard at the end of the road!   It's so obvious that you should be able to control the level of Alexa’s (or Google Assistant's) voice seperately from the level of your music. But no.   I read an old post on here saying that new firmware in “May/June" would address this. June is nearly over… Does anyone have any info?   Thanks for any help.            

Hello,   I want to use the sonos amp for all my areas - Kitchen - LivingRoom - and Patio TOTAL 3 AMPS :   Can I integrate The Sonos amp with Apple Homekit? How is the experience Switching Zones and Adding them together?

I have a feeling this isn’t possible but let’s see :) If I buy a TV that is airplay 2 compatible, would that mean that the sound of the TV would come out of the Sonos Move? Or does it just mean that the TV can connect to the phone (which is what I think will happen). Thanks.

Hi everyone, I’m sure this question has been asked lots of times but I can’t seem to find a definitive answer. Can you use Alexa via another device (i.e. smartphone) to control Sonos speakers that don’t have integrated Alexa functionality? For example, suppose someone had this setup: 2x Sonos One in the kitchen 1x Sonos Five in the living room 1x Sonos One SL in the bedroom Only two of those four speakers have Alexa built-in (the Ones in the kitchen). However, if you happened to be in the kitchen, could you say something along the lines of “Alexa, play Spotify in the bedroom?” or would that not work as the bedroom speaker doesn’t have Alexa built-in? If it does work, would that then mean that a smartphone could also be used to action voice commands? For example, if the person was in the living room, could they use the Alexa app on their phone to say ‘Alexa, play Spotify in the living room?’ In fact, if that is possible, could you not just use the assistant on the smartphone? Hi there, I’m using my One to control Google Assistant and just got smart bulbs in the room, all *working* but the experience is far from great. The One will helpfully tell me that it’s turned on or off the lights... about 1 second after the lights have turned on/off. Google have resolved this issue when using Assistant through my phone, but the whole idea of the One was not needing my phone on me the whole time. (https://support.google.com/assistant/thread/890788?hl=en) Is there a setting or something I’ve missed to control this? The other part is please let us set the voice assistant response volume! I’m hoping we maybe see these changes in the S2 update already!?  

I live in Jersey which should come under uk so expect my sonos move voice control to connect to my Alexa but I can't find the option in the Service & Voice menu in the sonos settings. I can play music etc through all my sonos devices using my Echo dot I just can't seem to get it working the other way around. 

I’ve a Sonos Arc connected to Samsung TV Q95T via eArc. I was able to get Sonos Arc Google Assistant to turn on the TV, however, for turning off, it does not work. Please advise. Thank you.

I used to use TuneIn radio for my radio, but they have recently stopped doing BBC radio, so I needed a new provider. I found the Radioplayer did BBC radio, but whenever I ask google to play radio it still plays TuneIn. I have removed my TuneIn account from the Sonos app, but it still tries to use TuneIn. How do I stop it, and is there a voice command to get Sonos to use Radioplayer for radio? Whenever I say “Play 6 music on Radioplayer” google assistant opens Deezer.

My Sonos system is integrated through Savant.  It works very well with S1.  Now before I update my Sonos devices to S2 (all of them are eligible to update) I was wondering if somebody with a similar integration setup updated to S2 and what was the outcome?  I am wondering if it can mess up the integration between the Sonos and Savant systems.   All the previous Sonos firmware updates went smoothly as far as my Savant integration is concerned.  But this S2 update seems to be a bigger leap.   Thank you.

If I buy a Sonos one in the US will it and the Alexa functionality work in South Africa

Trying to set up Google Assistant and I am getting an endless loop trying to authenticate. I’ve reviewed all the related topics, the only answer I’ve seen relating to my issue is a service outage, which there isn’t anything noted on the status page. running iOS 13 updated app versions cleared all browser history and cache removed all music services from sonos removed all but my primary google accounts deleted both sonos and GA and reinstalled rebooted pretty frustrated, just had set up issues with Spotify just two days ago and was beyond straight forward. Setting up services shouldn’t take hours. any suggestions?

Hi, I’ve a 4.1 setup with the new Amp, two passive speakers, 1st gen sub and 1st gen play 1s. I am able to add google assistant in the app and it says “successfully added”. But when I call it out, the front passive speakers do not respond with a beep. I guess my question here is, are the passive speakers supposed to work in tandem with the amp to provide voice services (google assistant, alexa)?  Thanks.

Hi Does anyone know how to shuffle a playlist using an assistant voice command on Sonos? I've tried loads of variations and it'll only ever play the playlist in sequential order. Seems like an obvious command to have available. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Just bought a Sonos Move - arrived yesterday, followed the instructions and set up the device without any major problems. Downloaded the Sonos app (version 2) then downloaded the Amazon Alexa App. Set up TuneIn, set up Voice Control and before you know it I was playing music from the MOVE without any problems - took it into the garden 50 yards from the house (wall is solid stone) but no issues picking up WIfi - really impressive However…… Since I bought the device in France and live in France the device is set up in French so Alexa responds in French, but the setup said I would be able to change the language in the Sonos App. So, I looked up question in the community - followed the instructions but came unstuck because the app does not give me a language option. I then tried to change the language in Alexa and I get the same problem - I cannot change the language. I have looked up several videos on Youtube but I cannot find the screens they refer to - both for Sonos and Alexa - NO LAN

Had my fingers crossed that with the new features and usability updates promised with the new Sonos S2 app that one of those features would finally be an Apple Watch controller. With our outdoor speakers, having the ability to control at least the most basic of functions such as volume, play, pause and skip are at the very top of my list. I can wear my watch in a pool or hot tub but not my phone. Now that S2 has finally arrived, and the only new “feature” I see is Groups, I’m rather disappointed. I am still hopeful, however, that Sonos hears this plea a native Apple Watch app in the near future. Previously I was able to use an “okay” 3rd party app for control on the Apple Watch but now, with S2, I don’t even have that option presently.

I have had several Alexa routines on my Sonos One that I have been using for well over a year.  Yes, Alexa would say “audio routines on this device are not supported” but it would go ahead and run them anyway.  Yesterday (Monday May 4) after the error message, the routines stopped working altogether.    When I went into the Alexa App on my phone, I tried to run the Routine manually with the play button, but the list of devices did not include any of my Sonos One speakers (only the Amazon ones).  Wondering if the Sonos speakers disconnected, I went to the list of Alexa devices and my Sonos ones were still there.    thr fact this happened on a Monday makes me wonder if Amazon changed a policy that prevents users from running routines rather than just preventing them.   Anybody else have this issue?

Hello,    I couldn't find an answer to my problem so trying to get help here. I have a YouTube Premium subscription and using Google Assistant on my Sonos device. While I can play music from Youtube Music just fine through the Sonos App, I cannot with Google Assistant. I have selected YouTube as default music provider in the Google Home app, and whenever I ask Google Assistant on my Sonos One to play music, it responds “I can't do that here but you can ask me to play on one of your other devices”. I assume that Assistant thinks I want to play a video and expects a screen to play it. Any thoughts how I can make it work?

Will the harmony hub continue to function if i upgrade to S2, or will it stop to function? I do not want to upgrade if my harmony remote can no longer controll it?

I am both an avid Sonos (hardware) fan and also a Control4 user who loves to program in Composer. I'm wondering how / where I can submit feature requests to re-enable a VERY important feature in the Sonos API. And that is... the ability to replace the queue when we are calling different playlists in programming. If Playlist A is currently in the queue, and I don't manually go into the sonos app and clear the queue first, when I call Playlist B in programming (from a custom button, voice control, etc) it will MERGE Playlist B randomly into the queue alongside Playlist A's songs. I understand that this topic has been hotly debated for some time on what the DEFAULT handling of the situation should be. And, although I still disagree that the majority of people would ever want to merge playlists into a queue by default... I do respect the decision by the devs to be diligent in keeping the default behavior consistent. However, i do not understand why you would REMOVE the ability to cle

I just installed my new Sonos Arc on my older Samsung TV via the optical cable (only option as there is NO HDMI-ARC on this older TV).    I have other Sonos Ones in the house with Aiexa already and they work fine.  During the Sonos install of the Beam, is stated that it linked with Alexa.    The Alexa function does not work at all on the Arc.  The iight for the microphone is not on.  The Arc does not respond at all to Alexa commands.  How do I debug / fix this?   I expected I would have normal Alexa functions (ask weather, or news) and be able to control the Arc Volume with Alexa as I do on the Sonos Ones.  Please advise - Thanks!
