I’ve tried to play such file as described in the title, and it says in the app it’s playing Multichannel PCM 7.1 I know sonos isn’t a 7.1 system, so in this case am I losing ATMOS or other audio content? I’ve played 5.1 atmos files just fine
Hello all, I know this question has been asked in a variety of ways, but I can’t seem to find my exact answer. I’ve listed the components of my system below: Sony Bravia x950HApple TV 4kPlaybarSonos Sub I have the apple TV going into the Bravia via HDMI. Optical out to the playbar and wirelessly connected sub. No problem with this setup to date.I recently moved into a location that has built in rear speakers that I would like to connect to this system as dedicated rears. It seems I can purchase the Amp to accomplish this. I have 2 questions: 1.) Will I notice any latency in connecting the rear speakers with the Amp? If so, is there a way to avoid this with my current setup?2.) What would be the best way to setup? In my mind, I would just add the Amp wirelessly to the group. However, I have access to all the “guts” very easily, meaning, the location of the amp can connect to the same ethernet as the Playbar, and I also have access to the HDMI-arc from the TV or apple TV if neede
Hey guys I saw an old thread on here that went unanswered but I could no longer add to it. So I made a new one to possibly help others who run into this issue! I often install Sonos equipment in peoples homes and today I faced an issue for the first time with Xfi pods and wireless Sonos zones not appearing after setting them up on your network. I figured out that if you wire a Sonos Boost to the xfi pod and add the boost to your system while connected to the “xfi pod wifi” (just stand close to it during setup), then you should be able to add it to your Sonos account. From that point on you can factory reset your Sonos equipment and add to your network without issues, since a Sonos boost gives off its own dedicated network to all your Sonos equipment. Now all of the Sonos equipment appears on the customers network without any issues. I believe the problem is that the xfi pods give off their “own network” but still have the same name and password. This should technically also work if
Hi,Im moving to a big house in a couple of weeks and im planning to put in a Sonos One in the kitchen and a Sonos Five in the Tv room. The problem is that Sonos Five gen 2 was released 2015 ( 7+ years ) and Sonos One 2017 ( 5+ years ). They are quite old now. Dont you guys think it wise to wait a while for the new ones to be released? Im not in a hurry.
My daughter likes to put her hand on the actual subwoofer speakers while a song plays with big bass. Could that potentially damage the sub or is that okay? We have a Sonos Sub Mini.
Arrived yesterday. Played with it a bit. Todays a different story. This is a beast over my previous Ones. No question. Sonos hasn’t let me down yet. What’s next?
I’m using the latest version of the Sonos app on my iPad and my iPhone. My Sonos system is up to date as well. I’m logged into my Sonos account on the app. I have Apple Music as my main source, but also Amazon Music. If I search for an artist, like CAIN and from Apple Music choose the station, “CAIN & Similar Artists Station”. It plays just fine and like it should. If I come back another day and select that choice from the list of Recent Searches within the Sonos app, it always shows “No results” or doesn’t even show Apple Music as an option. If I then delete everything and just search for “CAIN” and then select stations, the “CAIN & Similar Artists Station” appears as available and under Apple Music.I don’t understand why a recent search wouldn’t bring up the exact same results as what I originally selected for that search. Could this be a bug since it does it on both my iPad and iPhone? Here’s a screen recording showing how Apple Music doesn’t appear even though it was the or
We purchased a home that has a fairly new Sonance patio series speaker system (four speakers and subwoofer) already installed and the wiring is already run through a wall and located inside the house. The previous owners took the amp or whatever they were using with them. I just have the set of four wires (all labeled coming through the wall from the outside speakers). I want to power the speaker system and also be able to stream music. We have high speed internet so we can connect using WiFi signal to the amp/receiver. Which Sonos product or combination of products would be best to accomplish my goal of powering the speakers and stream music to the speakers? Maybe controlled by the Sonos app? I am new to Sonos so the easiest and most understandable solution would be greatly appreciated. I can provide photos if helpful. Thanks!
Hey Sonos community,I'm wondering if I can pair a SUB mini with an existing home theater system. I know we can add a second sub but can that sub be the Mini ? Existing system is:1x ARC2x Sonos one1X Sonos Sub Thanks
I’d like to be able to utilize the Sonos app more frequently when working with my Plex music library.Currently, the biggest barrier to doing so is the lack of controls for rating songs that are playing. This functionality exists with the Pandora integration via thumbs up/down.Would you please consider adding such a function to your Plex integration?
Is it possible to enter your own URL? It would be nice if you can play a radio station that is not in the list!
Hi All A friend has just taken over a restaurant with a pretty old system in it and i’ve convinced him to take the plunge on some SONOS due to the experience i’ve had with it.You can see from the plan (below) that its a pretty big space. The objective isn’t to create a nightclub, but good sounding background music that can be cranked up a little when needed. Thoughts on having the ONE SLs is that they can create nice ambient sound locally without needing to pump the Play5’s up too hard to cover than area, but with the Play5’s giving decent low-ish frequency throw.Planning to setup a few zones/areas, but the main different is the two ceiling heights of the main area and the lounge area.Thoughts in my head are to use a combination:5x Play5 4x One SL 1x iPod Touch on a mount for controlsWhat do you think? Overkill? Needs more speakers? Note: Black lines through the middle are solid walls
Ever since updating the app on ios (iphone 12), whe i touch/tap the volume and it makes a significant jump down in volume without me sliding it. For instance, I am listening at a volume of 20 and want to adjust it upwards a bit,. I tap on the volume and it immediately jumps down to a volume of 14. What gives here? This is not a one time thing , it is now happening constantly , on all my sonos speakers. starting to get pretty annoying
Now that my Fives arrived and successfully paired and grouped with my Sub & PlayBase (TV Room) I put my Ones in the garage repaired and sounding good. Now my Play 1’s are looking for a new room. Can I keep them paired and put them in the same room as my other 2 Play1’s (paired)? So I would have a total of 4 Play1’s (2 paired) in the room. And how would it sound?
Can I use sonos roam as smart home speaker like echo or Google nest? And does it support zigbee or z wave protocols to connect smart home gudgets or only wifi?
Our main room of use in our house outside the kitchen is a living room, that is 26’sx12’, our furniture is on the long sides with doors on both ends. I currently have a five on one end, and a one sl on the other. While it sounds fine, how can I fill the room with sound? I was thinking two fives up high in the corners facing the couch and two one sl on the wall behind the couch. And maybe adding an amp. Could I get by on just two fives and an amp? Or to make a complete immersion should I look at speakers in every corner? What is the best way to set it up to get the most out of it, and would I be ok with the sub mini, or look at getting the bigger one? Thanks
- Which sonos smaller speaker can I pair with it to move around the house?? I don't want an additional Five
While you can launch lossless music via the Sonos app (ie Amazon Music Unlimited), I’ve yet to see a Voice Assistant be able to do this yet (ie Alexa plays lower quality non-lossless music from Amazon Music Unlimited). I even thought Sonos Voice would solve this issue but it doesn’t. Has this been resolved yet in the last couple of months or so (on any combination of Voice Assistant and Music Service)?

I have a Playbar, sub, and two Play 1s. They are missing from my system. The Playbar is connected to my Roku TV. The Playbar and Sub play through the TV and when I press the play button on either one of the Play 1s they play as synced with the Playbar and sub. I have tried the recommended process for missing products and have not been successful. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve had the Arc, one sl’s and sub gen 3 for a while now and have always been disappointed by the dialogue in content. Doesn’t matter what’s being watched or if speech enhancement is turned on. My buddy just brought over his Beam gen 2 and it’s not even a close comparison. The beam sounds so much better with dialogue at half the price. Any updates on software changes that might alleviate this? I know this is one of the major complaints of the Arc based off these forums and your subreddit.
Now that the Roam has been out for a year plus now I was thinking about purchasing it. There’s a lot of Sonos fan that went out and bought the Roam when it first came out. I was not one of them. I am a firm believer in Sonos products. But also I like to wait a bit to see how the reviews are. Plus I was hoping they would be available in other colors other than white or black. Most of you said that that would not happen any time soon. But this happened a few months ago and I thought again about buying it. But held back. I read and seen a lot of reviews on how there are other portable speakers other there that are better than the Roam. I’m eyeing the JBL Clip 6 right now. That seems to be better than the Roam. Anyone has opinions on the JBL or other portable speakers? Bose would be another choice over the Roam. Maybe someone here can convince me to purchase the Roam?
Why is there no difference with speech enhancement on or off on Arc. Very dissapoing. I had a Bose 900 and it worked perfectly.
So I am listening to spotify with the tv on or off and I cannot control the volume with IR remote. This can’t be how its designed???I mean my guests do not have the app installed. and the buttons are not obvious way to control a sound bars sound.
When in the SiriusXM Favorites view on the Windows 11 Controller (Sources > SiriusXM > Favorites > Channels), the song currently playing on each favorite channel is displayed, however after playing music for a bit, the songs do not update.
