New to sonos

was just gifted a Sonos One SL for my birthday, i’ve been planning to get more but am unsure how compatible gen 1 is with gen 2.

 

The Sonos One SL I am assuming is the newest one out because was gifted it recently. If i wanted to buy more speakers, do they all have to be gen 2? or could i buy a Play 1 Gen 1 from a friend and it all syncs together?

 

Planning to buy a beam/arc around christmas. 

 

mainly plan to use for movies, music when friends are over.

Here is the S1/S2 compatibility list. Since you are just starting, I recommend using S2 compatible units.
