Hi, I have a large TV that is slightly tilted downwards, meaning that the top of the TV is 6.5" away from the wall. If I mount my playbar on the top, just 2" above the TV makes me think a lot of the sound would get trapped behind the screen. Does anyone have a recommendation for how much higher I should go? The playbar has to be mounted above, as if it was underneath, it'd be within range of (and therefore eventually destroyed) by my daughter.

Do I require a playbar for each TV ?

Can anyone help me get sound from my Netflix app on Samsung TV. My setup is as follows:- Samsung ks658000 connected directly to Sonos Playbar. Sky Q is connected to the TV, along with Samsung Blu Ray player both via HDMI I also have a Sub And 2 Play 1s. The TV and Blu Ray player both work, giving me 5.1 output but when I watch Netflix, YouTube, etc through my TV apps I get no sound at all. The only way I can get sound is if I change the sound output from 'optical' to ,TV speakers'. I have tried changing the TV audio settings HDMI Audio Format to PCM and Bitstream and also changed from and to Dolby Digital but nothing seems to help. Hopefully it's just something simple I've missed. Any help greatfully appreciated.

I currently have the 5.1 system. Is it possible to add a second Sub give the low end a boost? Could Sonos handle "5.2"? I'm not dissatisfied with the Sub, but it would be nice if the bass "went up to 11".

Hi - I seem the be having the same problem getting my existing remote to work with my Playbar as some users have had in the past. I set it all up with no problems but when I try to turn the volume down it goes up. The volume up button increases the volume too. Mute works correctly. I'm using a youview box (mine's from Talktalk) and the youview remote, which doesn't control the TV's volume, only that of the source youview box (the only TV functionality programmed into the youview remote is to turn is off and on and change the source). My optical cable is connected to the youview box as the TV doesn't have an optical out. I've tried re-pairing the remote control several times (sometimes with TV and youview box off, sometimes on) and have gone through the whole Playbar setup a couple of times, but same result every time. Only point of note is that the Playbar seems to find it harder to detect the remote signals when the rest of the set up is off than when it's on. But got there in

I have a 5.1 setup with the playbar, sub and two play 1's. The setup was super easy and music from spotify sounds great. The issue I am having is when I am watching Apple TV. I thought at first that the optical coming out of my TV was causing the intermittent cut outs as it couldn't handle the surround information. So I took the TV out of the scenario and wired my Apple TV right to the playbar via optical. The same issue is happening. Is this a common problem and is there a setting I am missing? It's really starting to bum me out. I spent a lot of money on this system! Hoping I can get some advice from support. I'd also like to add that the optical cable is not kinked anywhere, it's the cable that came with the playbar. Is there any known issues with this cable, should I invest in a better one?

I currently have a playbar connected to my TV and on my patio I have a pair of Play 1 speakers. I'd like to install a projector on the patio and use roku to stream content to the projected display. Audio will be a problem though and I'd like to stay away from any additional wiring. How can I get the audio to the Sonos? I was thinking that maybe if I connect the roku into a wireless HDMI extender and then into my TV which is connected to the playbar with optic cable, I can then play content on my TV, stream the video to the projector and group the Sonos speakers while muting the playbar. Would something like that work? Do you have any product suggestions to make this work, or would there be an easier way by maybe connecting the roku directly to the projector and streaming the audio to the play 1 speakers? Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi guys, so here's the deal. I bought some Bose speakers for my living room and the Connect AMP to play music and use as TV speakers. Apple Music works a charm. My TV outputs audio through optical, so I bought an optical cable and then a converter - optical to RCA so I can plug into Connect AMP. All connected well and thought it would work brilliantly but end up only getting sound out of one speaker. Even tried it on my Apple TV using the optical cable and converter and still only getting one speaker sound. Is this a problem with my converter or configuration in Connect AMP? Any help would be great! Thanks!

I currently have play 3s as my surround speakers and was wondering if the play 5s in that position would be worth the $1000 bucks? Would love to hear from other users. Thanks

I just bought a house that has speakers in the ceiling in some rooms, and I would like to use the two in the living room as rear left and rear right in a 5.1 setup using the PLAYBAR, SUB, and the CONNECT:AMP to run the two existing wired speakers. This how-to from SONOS states that you must have both the PLAYBAR and CONNECT:AMP wired into the network in order to do this, however my wireless router is in one room, the PLAYBAR is in the living room, and the CONNECT:AMP is in the utility closet that all the ceiling speakers go to in the exact opposite side of the house than where the wireless router is located. https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2248?_ga=1.15565233.622813009.1487300518 Is there really no way to get the CONNECT:AMP to do rear left & right without physically wiring it together with the PLAYBAR and instead only using wireless? Got my soundbar all hooked up and turned off the tv speakers. now when I turn the volume up/down I get a on screen message that says "!Not Available" My volume does indeed turn up and down I just want to get rid of this message, I found the list that shows how to do this but it appears to be for different cable/satellite providers remotes, not the actual TV remotes. I do not have cable or satellite so that list does not help. How can i get rid of this message using my Samsung TV remote? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if I missed a list of tv remotes I apologize

Had my playbar and 2 play1's working as surround, but then moved them to my other tv. Now the 2 play 1's dont work while watching tv. They do work when watching blu ray. Is my problem because this tv is second running off the same dish reciever? If not, what is my problem?

Hi All This should be very quick to sort out. I'm looking at getting a Sub to go with my play bar. (FYI We already have a Boost in the house just in case this affects anything). As the Sub is wireless and we do not have space for it by the TV and the Playbar I was thinking about putting it by the sofa where we sit to watch TV. Two benefits to doing this are space and hopefully it would lessen the subfrequencies traveling through to our neighbors. Are there any reasons to not do this? Many thanks in advance ?

Trying to setup my home theater but running into many complications. Currently setup: appleTV connected to my projector via HDMI cable. Audio output is then wired through a connect box. I have a play5 that is then setup in the room. The issues is that I have a bunch of wifi interference and changing the channel settings does nothing. I've tried compressed (major sound delay) and uncompressed (audio skips constantly). Ive purchased a boost and it had no impact. I've also tried connecting the play5 directly to the projector and it also has a very long delay. Before I give up anything else I can try?

I would like to set up a home theater system in my new apartment using my Epson Digital Projector, an Apple TV and a Sonos Playbar.  The set-up would be used primarly (i) to play content from my laptop using the Apple TV's "Airplay Mirroring" function, with video coming through my Projector and audio coming through the Playbar and (ii) to play Hulu/Netflix/etc. content directly from Apple TV, with video coming through my Projector and audio coming through the Playbar. The problem that I am running into is that I need to have the Projector and the Sonos Playbar on opposite sides of the room.  Specifically, the Projector needs to be behind my couch and the Playbar needs to be in front of my couch, and I do not want to wire them together because doing so will ruin the aesthetics of the room. The only set-up that I have been able to come up with that would conceivably allow me to have a Projector at the back of the room synced with a Playbar at the front of the room

Building a house and I'm currently running ethernet cord throughout the house. I am hardwiring all of my Sonos throughout the house into my network to increase reliability...but I am not quite sure exactly how to wire my Sonos in the living room. I want to have 5.1 surround sound (Playbar, Subwoofer, Connect:Amp, rear ceiling speakers). The Playbar has two ethernet ports. I will have one ethernet port from a switch to the Playbar. And the other will go from Playbar to the Connect:Amp. (My understanding is I need to hardwire the Playbar and Connect:Amp, correct me please if that information is not true anymore). FYI, my network does allow for spanning tree protocol to be enabled (Google Wifi routers, unmanaged switches) Do I hardwire the subwoofer to the switch or do I need to have the subwoofer connect wirelessly via Sonosnet? Also, my wife has given me the following choices for location of the subwoofer 1) inside cabinetry underneath TV, 2) underneath couch facing TV, or

Sonos playbar linked to samsung tv via optical cable. Sound drops out now and then, say once an hour for just a second, and then recovers. I am running the beta software but the problem was their before I changed to the beta. Any advise please.

Hi Sonos, I just received my Playbar. I have a Sony Bravia 46" (KDL-46XBR2). It receives audio via an HDMI connection from the cable box. It is directly connected to the Playbar via the included optical digital audio cable. As I set up my Playbar, I am getting the message, "Sonos could not detect any audio from the TV." I have tried another optical cable. My TV doesn't necessarily have a "digital audio out" setting in the menu. It only has the option to turn the TV's speaker ON/OFF, though when I had the TV audio output going through component cables to a Play:5, it worked fine. Any troubleshooting steps?

Hi! New here, have done some searching and know this is a known issue. I was hoping someone had a workaround. I just bought the 55 inch Samsung KS8000 TV and am having trouble getting Sonos Playbar to work with the "smart" remote that came with the TV. I've tried setting the Playbar up as a Bose/JCV device on the TV with no luck. Does anyone have any information/advice as to how I can get this to work? I love the Playbar and the TV though would love them even more if they were connected :8

Hi all, Was wondering if anyone else is using the Octava HD41-ARC switch box to help get true Dolby 5.1 surround on their SONOS home theatre system? I've been using it a few months now and it's allowed me to get full 5.1 on almost all my TV inputs. So far I have DD 5.1 from my cable box and from my PS3 and it's pretty awesome. I am having one, very annoying limitation though-- my Chromecast 2nd Gen plugged into my Octava Box wont' give me DD 5.1, it only outputs in stereo. Seeing as this is my preferred method for watching Youtube and Netflix on my TV, it's really starting to bother me. There is no settings on the chomecast to force DD 5.1, essentially the chromecast has to realize that DD 5.1 is available and choose to output in that format all by itself. Does anyone know if there is any way to make the Octava box force Chromecast to output in DD 5.1? I know there's some sort of EDID management ability, but I can't really figure out how to use it.

Sorry if this has been posted or answered elsewhere, I could not locate anything. I have a Playbar connected to a Samsung F9000 via optical cable. All works well but for an annoying 'feature' in the timeout period which I believe is 10 minutes. So if the TVs audio is paused, muted or off for longer than 10m you have t select the source again. This of course means we have to find a device and select the source again, which is pretty frustrating, particularly if you have just sat down.. So, is there a way to turn this off or change the timeout period?

Playbar doesn't work with RF remotes (Philips), welcome to the wireless world of Sonos! When will this problem really be solved and not by using another remote!

Hi all, while researching sonos before my purchase of home theater. I saw some info that some TV's can not pass through 5.1 surround. I didn't expect that to be a problem with my new Samsung 4K. Upon checking with Samsung it appears that there TV's will not pass through 5.1 surround to the playbar. can this be ? any Samsung owners care to tackle this one ?

Hi, Wanted to confirm whether I understand the Connect amp right as looking to us it in a small projector set up. My plan is to use an Amazon fire tv box, then taking the hdmi output use a splitter to separate the video and audio parts. The visual output would run straight to the projector (BenQ W1070+), the audio outputs would then run to the Sonos Connect Amp. This would be part of an existing wireless Sonos setup which consists of a Bridge and two Sonos play1. Would the Connect Amp, allow the audio signal from the Fire TV signal to be played through the Sonos Play1s? Or have I misunderstound how the Connect amp works? Thanks
