Google Assistant and Sonos

Hi - Facing some clunky command issues with Google Assistant.I have a Beam in the living room and a One in my bedroom, both are set up with Google Assistant. Both devices are also set up with Google Home for simple automation.When directly saying a command to the devices i.e. “Hey Google, I’m home”….they will respond with “Welcome home” and proceed to broadcast the message on the other device “Broadcasting a message, I’m home”.  However, from the Google assistant app on iphone, the broadcasted message will be “Welcome home Alvo” and the other device will broadcast “Chime sound and then Alvo has arrived" I have 3 devices (Fan, TV and Beam) set up in Living Room, it used to work when I say “Turn Off Living Room” i.e. all 3 devices are turned off. Recently the command does not work anymore, I will get the error message “Sorry i'm not sure which living room you'll like to turn off”Questions: For point (1) why the inconsistency?

Allow assignment of another device(Sonos one) in the Arc HT setup to be a Google assistant.The arc is located in the living room.Most of the time, I need to use the Google assistant in my Sonos one which were configured as surround in the HT setup.Pls assist with feature upgrade to support assigning a diff speaker for Google assistant.Thx.

I have a Symfonisk from Ikea, i read that it supports google assistant. I was under the impression that it basically was a google home device, but starting to realize that’s not the case and you still need a google another device with google assistant/home to be able to control it with voice. First i thought that’s kind of misleading, because that’s not how i interpret anything that says it supports google assistant to work. Now what i can’t figure out is after i add the google assistant in the app, i don’t see google assistant in that section of the app, although below it i see my spotify which i added in the music services. It just has the + add a voice assistant there. However, i do see the device in my google home app. Is this normal?   

will start playing music fine with google assiatant but then will not reapond to anynother commands ie stop, skip  volune up whats goung on 

When i ask my Sonos to Play music in the room it works fine. But when i ask IT to play in a different room it says that the room/speaker is not available.What to do?

Hi’ I seem to be having an issue to get my sono speakers back the way they where, I’m trying to control the volume with google home to have all the speaker turn the volume up all together and also down. for what ever reason it will only control one speaker at a time. Any help to resolve this would be appreciated. I did try different settings but seen to be at lose on how to set this. I can control the volume of all the speaker at one time with the app but not with Google it did work at one time but has stop.Thanks in advancelou

Dear community,I have updated two speaker names in the Sonos app. I want to use them as surrounds together with a Beam. However the names in the Google home app have not been automatically updated. Do you know how to push the Sonos names to google app or force an update?Thanks, Robert 

I have added my sonos speaker to my google home group and it will cast music to all speakers. However the sonos sound is ahead of the other speakers in the group (annoyingly so). I have tried using the sync slider in the app but it does not make a difference. How can I fix this? 

I feel like I've tried every fix that's recommended, but no luck. When trying to add Google assistant to my Sonos App, the process seems to work perfectly, but after the process is complete, it does not work and it doesn't show up under Voice Services in my Sonos App. Even after it says it was successful. Additionally, the Sonos Playbase does show up in the Google Home app, just not in the Sonos App. Bottom line, Google Assistant doesn't work. Everytime it says it's successful, but never shows up under Voice services (in Sonos App) when I click "Done" from my Android phone. How do I fix this?   Ps. I've tried changing room names, removing music services, starting from scratch, etc.

Hi there just set up google assistant on my sonos 5.1 and two other sonos ones. Setup was smooth, but after installation, it gives the following reply whenever I ask Hey google to play music/ spotify etc. My google music services is the same spotify account as my sonos default. same for the sonos device setting. I can skip track, pause, stop music once I've launched spotify from my phone etc. Hope someone can help 🙂

I have successfully set up routines to turn off lights etc when I leave the house via the Google assistant on my sonos one but I cannot seem to find a way to add turn OFF the music as part of the routine. Currently I activate the routine which turns off the lights and have to give a separate command to turn off the music. Is it possible to integrate both commands as a routine? 

I have 15 Sonos products, Amazon Echo dot and Google nest mini. I have a total of 66 smart home devices from radiator valves to light bulbs and power sockets to speakers.I have found Alexa increasingly annoying and becoming more and more picky about how you achieve things. She will respond to “Alexa set the dining room lights to 50%” by saying “please try again using % for brightness and degress for temperature” which just frustrates the hell out of us.We have found google nest mini to be a LOT more accommodating in how you ask it to do things. “Hey google, can you set the lights to be brighter” for example.Now I recently purchased 4x Sonos One and 1x Beam. The plan was to move wholesale to Google Assistant for a more ‘humanised’ interface. We all know how all encompassing big tech can be. I was one of the few people that invested in a Nest camera before Nest was acquired by Google. Once Google acquired the company, Nest became a little compromised in terms of what they offer. If Sonos bailed out because of the big tech squeeze, Sonos will never be the same under Google. Whilst the Google Home Hub sells well, it’s nowhere near as quality a product as Sonos products. Any Sonos legacy products are easily superior that any of Google’s newer products (Google does not really have special interest in speakers, they have special interest in a bigger slice of the market -whatever it takes. I recently switched to the Ring Doorbell because they are genuinely about home security rather than also trying to harvest users’ personal info in effort to sell you more products (soon there’ll be a Google refrigerator, Google car, shaver, etcetera, it’s mind numbing). Hi!I am trying to link my Sonos system to my google home. But every time when I am using the google home app, push configure a new unit search for sonos and then link the app just say that the account is link and I am back to the beginning with no speakers.Can somebody help me?

Hi, I have set up Google Assistant on my new Sonos Beam, which works OK. However GA will not play Spotify on Sonos. I have set up Google Assistant in the Sonos app, and logged in with the same Spotify premium account on both the Sonos app and the Google Home app. I’ve even signed out and in again on both apps to be absolutely sure. But when I ask Google assistant to play Spotify on Beam, it claims that I have not signed in with the same premium account on both apps. I use an Galaxy S10+ for setup. Any ideas?

Hello All,I am trying to play white noise on my Google assistant through Sonos continuously throughout the night.  No matter what I do, it only plays for one hour and stops, waking us up.  On Google Home, you can say “Ok Google, Play White music for 10 hours” and it will do so.  On Sonos, you can say the same thing, but it will stop after one hour.  Makes no sense?  I have Sonos in every room and gave up my Google Home so hoping I don’t need to bring it back!Thanks

After 5 minutes with Google Assistant controlling my devices in the house it’s already a mile ahead of Alexa who was always rather clunky. And the app was terrible. However one of my favorite things to use my bedroom Sonos One for was to ask Alexa to play Thunderstorm sounds while falling asleep. When I ask Google assistant the same thing all I get is “Alright, Playing lighting and thunderstorm sounds on Google Play Music...Sorry it looks like the subscription to your for* Google Play Music is not supported.” A standard google home device plays ambient sleep sounds without a Google Play subscription. Alexa was kind enough to do the same. But does this mean I’d have to pay for a Google Play Music subscription in order to simply have ambient sounds? I don’t think it’s too early to start having basic expectations of our smart home devices. Turn on lights, tell me the weather, play white noise seem like they should be basic freebies to me.

Hi,I have had the Arq for one month and the experience with Google assistant is really poor.My first comment is it only seems to work when I shout or get really close to the microphone.  What i’d consider a ‘normal’ user experience (reasonably loud) command often doesn’t get results. My second comment is that there is a vast difference between the accuracy of Sonos Arc vs iPhone Google Assistant.    I use Arq with commands and i get ‘sorry, something went wrong’, or some garbage response, or just flashing LEDS and back to music.  I say the same thing on my iphone/Google Home and it’s works perfectly.

How do I enable continued conversation on my sonos one with Google assistant ? I've tried looking through the settings and end up going round in circles. Thanks for your help in advance. 

I’ve seen many questions to the below but not found an answer so I will add my penny worthI have new sonos beam and all integration with sonos app and youtube music is fine apart from the truncation list issue. ie I can play youtube music from the sonos app OK Google questions like weather and what is my diary work fineBut when i ask google to play a track eg ok google play artist trackname  i get the following reply “Ok playing trackname on YouTube music. Sorry I can't find what you're asked for”I have the basic youtube music. All the various combinations of asking to play a track/artist fail with the message above. I have a  google home speaker and all the commands for youtube music WORK on this.Any ideas please

2 weeks ago I set up our new family Sonos speaker on our home WiFi. I think we’ve spent £160 on what is essentially a high-end doorstop. I and both my parents downloaded the new app, connected to Spotify, connected Google Assistant, set up voice recognition for me and my mum. The lot. Up until now it had been working fine, e.g. Me or my mum could ask Google Assistant to play music on Spotify and it would, or, we could play music through the Spotify app. This morning I did just that and played music on the speaker, no problem, but a few hours later my mum, and then I, ask Google to play some music on Spotify. She says “I can’t do that here, but you can ask me to play on one of your other devices” (we don’t have any) - or something to that effect.  So I go to my mum’s Spotify- can’t connect to the speaker, odd, because when I go to my own Spotify, it connects and plays just fine. Google Assistant is still having none of it. So I open the Sonos app on my device, and then my mum’s, and

I have two homes.  Each home has a wifi network with the same SSID (we’ll call it Gandalf for simplicity).  The idea was that anyone who had access to the SSID in house A would also have access in house B. I have a reasonable sized Sonos system in house A (Play:Bar, sub, and about 8 Play:1 and Connect devices).  At house B, I have a Play and a Move. I’m running into a problem getting Google Assistant set up on the Move at House B.  When i go into the Google Assistant setup process, it can not find the Move when it looks for it.  I have already stripped down the network (killed off the 5GHz access, and disabled the additional Access Points).   Could the fact that I have two systems on the same SSID be posing a problem?  Is there something else that’s causing this issue? Worth noting that I did have this working for about 2 weeks.  Then I had to reset a bunch of stuff with my Google account, and we’re back to square 0… 

If I try and play music or radio through my sonos beam using Google assistant,  it cuts out all the time. I have to turn on the tv and link to the sonos as the source to allow it to work. Eh? Seemed to have happened all of a sudden.  Used to be able to play music through the beam without the tv needing to be on.
