I just setup my Port to my AV receiver. Through the app, I named it TV Room. I added the Google Assistant and now I see “TV Room” (my Port) listed in Google Home. In Google Home, it is listed as a Speaker, but I am unable to add it to any of my existing speaker groups. I can have Google play music from Spotify thru the Port on my receiver but I don’t know how to have it play music from the port to my speaker groups. My groups are either Google Home Mini’s or Chromecast Audio devices. Additionally, I have my home music located on a NAS and the app plays that music just fine, but, I cannot figure how to have google to play my music from my NAS through the port. Whew! And that was just my first post. Thanks for any help. Ralph.
Explain to me like I’m an idiot why Google Assistant isn’t available in certain countries. Why can’t it just be “switched on”. I live in Japan. I get why maybe Japanese language support isn’t ready but for those of us that are happy to communicate in English, why can’t we have the option?
A weird one, but we use the Google Assistant on our Sonos One to regularly set timers, but now - no matter what time we ask for - it only sets a one minute timer. So in response to "hey Google, set a 10/20/30 minute timer", we get "1 minute timer starting now" We can ask Google to add to the timer, and it does this absolutely fine, but the initial request just isn't working. Oh and if we ask it for a 1 hour timer, it sets that up fine too. Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone know a fix?
If subscribed to Tidal music streaming service, you can link up to Sonos in the Sonos app, and you can add it to Alexa via the Tidal skill. There is no option to add it to Google Home, and apparently that’s because it is not supported. No problem - my Sonos One stereo pair runs Google Assistant, but I have an Echo Dot sitting next to them, and it’s set to use the Sonos speakers as the default music output and Tidal as the default music service, so I can just say “Alexa, play (title)”, and it plays from Tidal on the Sonos speakers. But if I say “Hey Google, play (title) from Tidal”, it thinks for a long time with the light flashing (7-8 seconds), then says “Ok, playing (title) on Tidal… Sorry, it looks like Sonos isn’t available right now.”Probably the issue is simply that Google Assistant doesn’t support streaming from Tidal. But the response is misleading, and indicates a deeper bug that I’ve noticed before, that the error “Sonos isn’t available right now” is frequently offered as a gen
I just got a Beam and the audio ducking when using Google Assistant is quite annoying. I understand that any currently playing media will have its volume lowered so you can hear the response of the Assistant, but this goes on for far too long after the Assistant has finished speaking. This also means it’s listening for additional commands, so it picks up any conversation during this period and tries to search for whatever is said which is frustrating. I wish there was a way in the Sonos app to adjust this. I used to use a Google Home Mini which would duck the audio for the response, but then crank it back up to where it was as soon as it had finished speaking. If it can be accomplished on a device that is far, far cheaper than the Beam, then I’m sure Sonos can make it work.
Does anyone know what is the google home voice command to change the volume on my Samsung tv that is utilizing sonos’ playbar via optics setup? for example if I was listening to Spotify on my tv or watching Hulu/Netflix? When I ask google to increase volume on living room tv not thing happens...I tried different combination like increase volume on Sonos...living room ...etc...but no success.
I had google assistant working before, but moved homes and had to set everything up on a new wifi. I reset my beam and connected it to the new wifi, but can't seem to be able to connect google assistant again. I've tried disconnecting all devices from google home/assistant. I've deleted the google home app. I still have the google assitant app. When trying to link the device via the sonos 2 app it takes me to the app store to download the google assistant app, which I already have. I click to open the google assistant app and nothing happens. I've submitted diagnostics: 1886200429
My Sonos system and Google Assistant used to work fine. But now I can’t get my Beam to connect with GA, and my One just tells me, there’s a problem when I try to activate GA. My Move seems to connect but there’s a huge delay in answers. I’ve rebooted my Sonos system and reconnected all my units. I’ve sent you a report 776108334
Sorry if this question has been ragged before, is anyone having better luck with adding google assistant to Sonos One (S2 app)? I can link Alexa fine, but trying to link google assistant is fruitless and it keeps going around in circles trying to connect.I heard it might be an iPhone issue? I don't have any android devices to try and connect it with. I was given hints that the S2 app would solve this problem, as Sonos was aware of the specific issue but it hasn't seemed to have changed anything at all..
Until recently, when I was playing one of my Sonos playlists on my Sonos One stereo pair with GA, I could ask “Hey Google, what’s playing”, and it would tell me the song title and artist. Yesterday I noticed that it now responds “Nothing is playing”, even though it is of course playing my Sonos playlist.I have an Echo Dot in the same room that has the Sonos pair set as its default music output. If I ask “Alexa, what’s playing?”, it automatically knows that I mean the Sonos speakers, and it tells me the song title and artist as usual. So, looks like another new bug between Google and Sonos...
I have 4 speakers:Google Home Mini Sonos Beam SYMFONISK SYMFONISK 1 is set to default to Sonos as its default speaker in the google home app settings.3, 4, and 5 are grouped together in the Sonos app. Whatever I do, I am not able to make google play the music on the Sonos.I set up the Sonos as the default speaker but whenever I ask:“hey google play xxx music” it plays it on the google home mini not on the Sonos. “hey google play xxx music in living room” it still plays in on the google home mini not on the Sonos. even if I ask this while I’m right next to the Beam, it will still play on the google home mini. “hey google move the music to living room speaker” it will say that this is not supported. “hey google play the news” it will stiil play on the google home mini. Why are these 5 actions impossible?
Is there a way to change which speakers microphones are used for Google Assistant? When I had a Soundboard the surround Ones used to work perfectly. Since buying an Arc it seems to only use its own microphone which doesn't hear very well.
I have a Playbase & a Google Home. The playbase is called “sonos” in the Google home setup. I can give commands to my phone or to the Google Home to control the volume on the Playbase so I know they are talking to each other. But, what else can I do with Google Assisant? Every guide I find talks about commands for a device like the Beam that has a microphone build it. I would like to be able to:start music playing on the playbase (one of the Sonos services), pause music that is playing on the playbase, change input on the playbase, perhaps other stuff.Has anyone with a playbase done ANYTHING other than control volume? Thanks in advance.

Hey google play the highway on sirius XM.. Answer: sure, playing the highway on Sirius XM.. sorry it looks like Sirius XM isn't currently supported on the livingroom (Sirius XM is linked in both google assistant and Sonos S2) Hey google play Christmas musicAnswer: alright, Christmas hits on YouTube music, playing on livingroom.. sorry I can't find what you asked for. (YouTube music is linked in Google assistant and Sonos S2) My google mini has no problem with either command. My google Sonos speakers respond as above. My google best hub which has my Sonos speakers set as it's default audio device responds as above.. so it's the playing on Sonos part that fails. Anyone have a solution ?
Hi! About year I cann't start playing Tidal by Google Assistant. I have One gen 1. S2. From Sonos App and Tidal App I can start playing without problems. TuneIn and YouTube music starts through GA correctly.Dialogue:- Hey, Google, play music on Tidal".- Ok. Playing music on Tidal. Sonos is not available at the moment. What i am doing wrong?
Hi, i have replaced my SONOS play:1 with a SONOS One to get acces to Google Assistant commands. After a succesful setup and adding my Google Assistant in the SONOS app and adding my Google Play Music premium account I though I was set. But apparantly there are major issues: The ‘OK Google’ Command works. After that, 95% of the commands stop working. The microphone just blinks ad thats it. I found a topic about that where a SONOS employee answered that it would be fixed and in a timely matter. This a thread of 4 months (!!!) ago. Is there ANY update on this (No Alexa or another speaker is not a option for me). How is this still an issue? Link to thread: https://en.community.sonos.com/google-assistant-and-sonos-229109/sonos-one-problem-with-google-assistant-6837646 When I use a music command that got accepted (very rarely) this happens: ‘Play number X by artist X’ Answer ‘Ok playing song X by artist X on Google Play Music’ I’m sorry, I cannot help you with this’ Why is this?
Hi all,I have an Arc, a Sub, and two Play:3's as surrounds. I noticed that when asking Google Assistant on the Arc to play a song (from YouTube Music, in this case), its response cuts off the first few seconds of the song. However, when asking the assistant to play a song on a Google device, such as Google Nest Mini, it finishes its response and the song plays afterward without the beginning being cut off.Just in case anyone else may have experienced this scenario also, I spoke with a senior Sonos engineer last week who said he would submit this as a feature request, so maybe a future update will address this.Ultimately, this is nothing more than a very minor inconvenience, but it would be nice to be able to hear a song in its entirety without interruption when requesting it through Google Assistant.
Having jumped into the infuriating and exhilarating world of smart living/iot etc (yes, I have no life) slightly late, I have set up GA on my iPad (and I have the clumps of hair in my hand to prove it). I think I have it now: my Play:5s (Gen2) will never have voice assistant like my Beam but with an iPad and GA, or with one of Google’s speaker mics, I can control the speakers all the same, with voice. I assume there is no way to control the usual Sonos parameters through the Google Assistant app using gestures, ie with my finger? I can do this with Hue compat lights etc. but the Sonos speakers do not have any control (except the Beam which has on off for the linked TV). Yeah, I know the Sonos app is right next to GA, but it still would be nice to simplify these tasks, given that was the idea, I gather, with smart devices. Yorkey Thanks
I can start playing music or a podcast with Google assistant but one it starts playing no more reaction (funnily yesterday everything worked just fine). I tried all steps suggested - unlinking on both sides (i.e. sonos and google assistant), but can't resolve the issues. Can you please help? Thanks
If I ask google home mini located in the kitchen to play a specific song in another room, ie living room, it says that the content isnt available and it cant perform that action. Cant remember the actual words used. But if I go into the sonos app and search the song, it is available and can be played. Is there any way around this?
