Get help and assistance with your Sonos system

Has anyone had the issue with a Play5 Gen 2 randomly dropping off system with orange and white flashing LED. That reappears with a power cycle?  I bought 2 play 5 gen 2 a few years back to use as a stereo pair. 1 of them recently has started to drop out and display a flashing orange and white LED. If I power cycle it fixes the problem for a day or two. They are built into our cabinets and are a pain in the neck to get at to power cycle. I’ve now run Ethernet cables to both but the issue remains. Sonos support says my amplifier has a fault and have said they can give me 30%off a new one but I would need to buy 2 as the new 5 won’t pair with the old! Just seems strange that a power cycle can resolve a hardware issue? Anyone had a similar issue? Or have any other ideas on a fix?   

I know nothing is truly “future proof”. But thought about how my dad’s old speakers were still usable 50 years later because they shared a common standard wiring and plugs.  what happens to a Sonos speaker once we get to wifi7? Or WiFi stand v10 and beyond?I’m assuming there’s some degree of firmware updates. But is there a possibility sooner rather than later the hardware/wireless radios might become unusable with a new standard?

So I have studiously avoided upgrading from the S2 app (16.1).  My Era 300s and Arc are working just fine etc. so waiting until the Sept release of the ‘New’ App to see if they get everything straightened out in the app.I have a pair of Play 3s that have been in the closet for a few months (replaced by Era 300s)  and I brought them back out today and tried to use them and the S2 app says they need an upgrade which I am afraid to do cause I think it will mess up the S2 app and put my other working stuff at risk.Can I do the upgrade the Play 3s are asking for without messing up everything else or is it all one bucket and you have to do it all if you change any of it?Thanks!

Hey,I already bought this turntable a couple of years ago, but i’m trying to plug it in the Sonos Ampin the Analog Audio In with the RCA Audio Cable from the turntableAfterwards I follow the instructions from the manual to start playbackThe Sonos App shows there is a Line In connection but it doesn’t play on my speakers.It shows a sort of signal from playing and I heard that my Turntable plays a number.Also switched the button on the turntable to switch from phono to line and reverse.I’ve already tried so many things but I can’t get it to work.Can somebody help me?Best regards,Mark

HelloI have Sonos Arc and I have Optoma projector. I have connected everything correctly and they both work correctly, independently.When I try to get the audio from Arc instead of the project itself I start to face compatibility issues. I contacted Optoma and they have been working from their end to find a resolution. Last week they sent me this email regarding the issue:“Thank you for your patience in this matter, we are working diligently but we would also like provide you more depth. The eARC compatibility issue between Optoma’s UHZ66 and Sonos ARC is the result of unconventional CEC timing by the Sonos ARC. Optoma has attempted to “compensate” (workaround) for the timing with limited success yet continues to be work in progress. We strongly recommend reporting this issue to Sonos (as well). We will provide an update to this situation in the coming weeks.”I need help on this issue. is there anyone from the Arc product development team that can advise on this CEC timing issue? Can i

Many of my albums show up only as individual songs when I open my Music Library.  This happened within the last week.  Since currently there is no option to rebuild the music library on my OS app I instead went to my MAC OS and Updated the Library that way.  However, this had no effect.  Can anyone recommend a solution?  Very irritating to have to play each song individually instead of just playing the album.  Also, on my SONOS OS app I cannot even figure out how to create a queue.  Did they do away with this in the last update?

Recent update no longer has the surround sound sliders. In addition the distance options have disappeared. See image. Anyone know how to get them back? 

Over the past couple of weeks, when I am playing 93.1 / WXRT radio over Audacy on any of my Sonos speakers (Sonos 1, Play 3, Playbar) the music cuts off and usually restarts after a few seconds, sometimes it randomly drops the station altogether.  It is very frustrating to listen this way.  I had been successfully listening for years with no problems.  I can stream my Apple music, all day long, with no issues of music cutting in and out,I get the same results when I launch the radio station thru Alexa using my voice, or thru the Sonos app on my phone.Anyone else experience Audacy radio stations cutting in and out?

If I had known a brand new Arc would have been released I wouldn’t have bought the older version 2 days ago…Chesp marking scam!

Hi all,Having a weird issue with my Sonos Roam.Its on its charging base but seems to power down after a while.If i remove from the base and direct charge from a cable it works fine. And stays on and doesnt power down.But if i put it back on the stand it turns off after a while.It doesnt seem to be a battery drain issue as it has battery when i turn the roam back on with no power source. Ive tried plugging the wireless charging stand to different plugs and usb a plugs. But same result.Has anyone experienced this?Has my roam charging stand gone faulty in a weird way. Any advice

I installed a Sonos system shortly after I bought my house in 2009. When Sonos worked, it worked! I loved having music play throughout all three floors. I used to joke that I turned my house into my stereo. Things with Sonos were great...until they were not. I was plagued with speakers dropping out from time to time. Songs would skip. Sometimes it would play all day with no problems. Other times it as bad, other times it was intolerable. I tried all the usual fixes...turning off the modem, router, computer, and all Sonos components then restarting them. I changed my Internet service to the fastest offered. I still had the problem. I recently replaced all the old S1 components with S2. Maybe that would help. Nope. Speakers still dropped. Songs skipped. I play music mostly through Spotify. I never had the skipping and dropping issue when I played it through my desktop. I never had the problem when I streamed music at my office. Or on my phone. Or in my car. Sonos had to be the issue. I s

I was happy today because my Sonos app on my phone worked and I was able to play my music from my library, the reason I spent the kind of money I spent on the system.  So because I was happy today and decided to see just how unhappy and frustrated I could get, I decided to run my Sonos desktop controller.  I was expecting to need to update the app but what I got was “We found Sonos on your network” message.  So if the app sees my Sonos system why would it not automatically connect?  Good question but I clicked on “Let’s connect” and found that it can’t connect.  Cant connect to the system that the app knows is there (over and over with the try again click).  Go figure.  Click on the link for firewall help and my firewall isn’t listed.  And so now I can spend the next three hours on the phone with tech support or rebooting endlessly just to find out Sonos changed something useless to the system just to piss me off.  Anybody have any suggestions?

The subject Samsung TV does not natively support Optical output thus making it initially a non-starter for the Sonos Ray or discontinued Sonos Playbar / Playbase. However, the converter shown in this Link  may make connection to the Ray and/or Playbar / Playbase possible.I cannot guarantee it will work but the cost ($20_USD) to try it and then return it if not successful is IMO minimal. If you try it please report back in this thread with your results. 

Do any aftermarket apps control both Sonos App 1 and App 2 at the same time?

I've recently been thinking about buying the Sonos Ace, my only doubt about the purchase is the possibility of using spatial audio and Dolby Atmos even without the Sonos soudbar to watch films from Apple TV or iPad Pro.Is it possible to use this function without a soundbar like the Beats Studio Pro?

I have a pair of connects. One died one day. Won't get out of the orange/white blink after a reset so figured it was time to replace them anyways. I purchased one WiiM to replace the broken Connect. After I got it set up I went to open the Sonos app just to make sure that was connected and I had a forced app update. After it updated and asked me to create a network again for my connect. Unfortunately it has not been able to find the connect that has been working for several years. When I tried doing another reset I tried turning the phone off and on. I've tried everything except try and connect it directly to the router just to set it up again.Is that my only option at this point or do you just replace that box since it's not supported anyways 

I have a Beam 2 with a 2023 Samsung Qled TV QE65S95B.Beam in HDMI3 (ARC) kabelreciver in HDMI 1. sound is through the Beam.as soon as I plug in another device (media player. Apple TV) the beam loses the connection with he TV and the sound goes through the TV speakers…called Sonos, did a new installation, no result.Called Samsung, no solution, only connect optical to the TV. ( no Atmos)any suggestions?Jan

I use my Sonos Ray perhaps in an unconventional manner.I do not connect to it via optical cable - but via airplay using an Apple TV.So when I stream video from an ATV all audio is via airplay to the Ray.BBC iPlayer and Netflix sound fine with dialogue - but Disney Plus is terrible - and the speech enhancements are ineffective using the Sono Ray options and EQ.I have only owned my Ray for a couple of days - it sounds great apart from Disney Plus speech which is dismal to say the least! 

Can't connect to my shared music folder on PC. In the description it additionally says the path name should be \\computer name\shared folder. In the app on my Android phone it says: //computer name/shared folder. Which is correct backslash or forward slash?RegardsBirger

Just adding one more extremely annoyed and frustrated user to the group. My 12-device system disappeared from the app today and can’t be reconnected despite following the factory reset procedure. It’s not my wifi network since every other device on that network is working fine. After seeing the numerous other folks with similar unresolved issues  i too am looking for a replacement.  Any recommendations for alternatives to this now useless Sonos collection of doorstops? 

Hello. I’ve recently switched my broadband from Virgin Media to Plusnet. They sent me a Plusnet Hub 2 router but I can’t get my Sonos Play 1 to connect to it.Using the app, I’ve gone to “System Settings”, then to “Set up a new System”, selected my Sonos and clicked “Add”, connected my mobile to the temporary network, heard the chime, pressed the green button, then on the “Now let’s add your Play:1 to your Wi-Fi” bit, it’s saying “We couldn’t connect to ...”I’ve tried connected router to Sonos with an ethernet cable but that doesn’t work either.Any ideas? 

Almost 2025 and still no comprehensive EQ for AMP. 😔I can understand limiting all-in-one Sonos speakers and soundbars etc. to bass/treble controls in EQ. These products have most likely been carefully voiced and I’d assume they don’t want to provide users a way to detrimentally alter the sound with aggressive eq’ing which could damage brand perception. Maybe that’s not the case and they just simply want to keep the app easy to use / configure.Either way, AMP users should be provided a more detailed EQ option, since the amp is paired with a myriad of 3rd party speakers, all with unique voicings. If the line-in wasn’t so poor, you could theoretically EQ somewhere else in the signal path, and then use the amp like a power amp, but that kind of defeats the entire purpose of being in the Sonos ecosystem. The Wiim amp at $299 offers a 10-band parametric EQ and a 10-band graphic EQ (and high-res streaming up to 24/192 - but that’s another discussion).I doubt this is a hardware issue, because

I have a second hand Sonos Connect which I would like to add to my Sonos One speakers to play CD/DVD from an old music system.When trying to add the Connect it tells me it is not compatible, I have tried the S1 app but it always wants me to upgrade to the S2 app. Is there a simple way to do this. i am 70 years old so a simple explanation of how to get this working would help.Many thanks in advance

I am able to successfully pair my Move 2 to the app and wifi network. I then get the message that it may not show in my system and tells me if that is the case to hold down the power button for 5 seconds, to basically reboot the Move 2. Then turn the move 2 back on and add it into the system. But it never shows up.  I’ve tried the reset, updating the app, opening/closing the app, etc. still won’t show up. What do you do from here?
