Controllers and Music services

When I use the Apple Music App and search it gives me artists, songs and albums in the results.Searching Apple Music in the Sonos app does the same. The challenge I’m having is once I select an Artist. In Apple Music I receive a list of songs, a list of albums, and so forth. When I do so with Sonos I only get a list of songs.if I search the full artist name and include the word ‘albums’ Sonos will show me the albums. This, however, is a lot of extra typing on a mobile device.How can I make the Sonos app return the same or similar results when going to an artist page as when I search on Apple Music. I’d rather have my Sonos directly streaming the music from Apple Music instead of casting it from my phone.

Just upgraded to the latest, new and improved Sonos app on my mobile phone (iPhone) and it has led to my losing my complete music library which is on a NAS.After some discussions with support, they confirmed that this option is not available - only the commercial streaming services (and it does recognise Plex) are visible and accessible but no proprietary My Music Library.Allegedly this will be rolled out in a future iteration, but no timeframe provided.Beware if you are considering upgrading

I have a system at home and a system at work, with the new app I have to constantly join and sign in to each system, the old app just switch seamlessly. SO ANNOYING! Plus, the speakers are constantly dropping off the system and have to be power cycled to work again. Adjusting volume across all speakers simultaneously is also clunky in the new app, such a poor experience overall… blech!

It's impossible to control the volume with this "update", it does what it wants, I have it at 54, move it to 75, goes back to 54, has done that 10 times without allowing me to change the volume.It keeps asking me to reauthorize spotify even though it says every time that it was authorized successfully.Every time I open the app, it can't find my system and have to jump through hoops before it finds it again.Sonos, do everyone a favor and FIRE all your "developers" and go back two versions until you are able to come up with a FUNCTIONAL app. This is worse than garbage. This is not even a beta version Using version 80.04.05 from July 3rd.

So within the BBC Sounds on the new app when you are trying to listen to a podcast or a show on catch-up there is no way of telling a)what date the show was broadcast or b) if you have already started listening to a show.In the previous app, when looking at shows in BBC sounds it would display both the date of broadcast, but also usefully a little circle that would fill up around the play button showing what percentage of your show you've listened to. You'd then know whether to continue listening or go onto the next show. But on the new one it's impossible to tell. Very annoying.

Sonos did not find my iTunes playlists when updating my library.iTunes stores playlist info in the file iTunes Music Library.xml. I found it on my Asus in C:\users\Asus\Music\iTunes. I tried adding this folder to the Sonos library but still no playlists. I keep my music in a different folder C:\iTunes Music, which I add to the Sonos Music Library. Sonos finds my music here. Sonos seems to need the xml file in the same folder as the music. So I copied and pasted the xml file to my C:\iTunes Music folder. Now Sonos finds the playlists. I just have to remember to copy and paste when I create a new playlist. BTY, I love Genius for making playlists.I am not sure how I found this solution. I may have to credit someone else. But I could not find in prior conversations. So I thought this post may be of help to someone.  

Hello, I recently got a Move 2 and love it. I added Apple Music and it works great! However, weeks later I am trying to add Pandora and Amazon to the content services section. The message I am getting after clicking “add to sonos” is “service not found” and then only one button that says done. I have restarted the Move 2, my phone. All apps are updated and on the same wifi. Any ideas? I can use Bluetooth but cannot add them in the native sonos app. Also, I have searched this forum and don’t see anything additional that has helped. TYIA! edit: I have an iPhone 15 fully updated. 

I’ve just upgraded to the latest version of the Sonos app, v80.05.04, but now I can play any content services!I have 3 services connected including Deezer and BBC sounds, and I can search and select music or radio channels but whenever I actually try to select and play something from Deezer I get an error “something went wrong try again” but it never works.if I select a BBC Sounds channel the play button spins for a while but then stops and nothing happens!if I go to my music library and select tracks they will play, but if I do a system wide search and then pick something from my music library I get an error message with a link to check service status even  though it’s my local library and connects fine if I manually pick a track! another pile of s**t from Sonos!I used to be a major fan but after recent updates I’m getting close to giving up on a 8 speaker multoroom setup!   

The Sonos app on my iPhone is not working.  It can’t load my services and recent plays are not there.  What is going on with it???

I can't seem to add podcasts from amazon music. There is an option to add but it's just blank. Thanks for any help.

Something that I have found frustrating about playback of FLAC encoded files (on a local media server) is that playback can be very inconsistent, and it’s often not obvious why.After a bit of investigation, it seems that one reason is that the track can be encoded in a way that Sonos doesn’t support, and yet the system tries to play it anyway. The example I have here is OK (2-channel, 44.1kHz) except for one parameter: it is encoded at a bit-depth of 32, while Sonos only officially supports up to 16 bit-depth.The problem is that the track plays OK for about 2 minutes and then just stops playing. Oddly other tracks from the same album - also encoded with bit-depth of 32 - play fine to the end. If I re-encode the problem track with bit-depth of 16, it plays OK to the end.My request is this: the bit depth is readable in the track metadata before playback even starts. My system has been essentially bricked since the new app. I have probably six grand or so in components that are barely usable. I’m unable to run it on my desktop as of a couple of years ago (won’t support Win 7), the new build won’t run on my Ipad (it is too old to support the required iOS) and the app is completely unstable on our Android devices, a pair of Motorola G7s with Android 11.Attempting to open the app on either Android results in a black screen with Sonos logo that freezes for three to five minutes until the system pops a message that the app has quit responding with selections to cancel or wait. Selecting wait, oddly enough, will get me into the app but it is unstable when it opens. It is marginally responsive to volume adjustments or completely unresponsive.The updated UI is terrible compared to the last one that functioned. I cannot be the only one having this problem. After the last update, I wrote to Support 2 times about my problem with the App, but have heard NOTHING yet. The problem is, when I press Sonos and have to select start or stop of a room, it usually takes 5 minutes to get to it, which is a very BIG DETERIORATION. After this update, Sonos has become VERY MISERABLE and particularly UNMANAGABLE.

Hi, I am considering changing from iPhone to Samsung and want to know if people are having issues still with the app on android? I occasionally use airplay because the iOS app sometimes fails

literally hours managing and developing my music library playlist before the change.  it has almost been two months.  when do i get these quickly back on my system / account ? I would like to see you roll out an extensive list of when we can expect all these extensive upcoming changes….not just what you’re doing in ”July” etc.   Further,  you have a great deal of personal data on all of us.  I don’t understand that if you “care” so much why you are not giving us reliable weekly/monthly updates using our emails to always give us status and coming soon.   why do i have to spend time going into forums or search your website to learn what sketchy written paragraphs you randomly offer?  we should be getting very regular updates from you in our inboxes.why cant you simply give us back the old app till you have thoroughly worked out this new?Many of us question your tech savy to have this entire problem in the first place.weekly/monthly email updates to a

Just to make sure I am correct (because it is hard to believe): the new app does not allow connection to a local music library - only to streaming services. I had the confirmed in a chat with the customer service  people but it seems so whacky that I thought I should check here. 

Well finally local library search is back. Although is always fails. Result “ something went wrong try again, .. and again and again… so yet again another release that doesn’t bring what is promised. 

Everything is up to date, firmware 16.3, new IOS apps on all three of my iPads. What is happening is, you have a queue in a room, that was playing, but now paused, you go to another IOS device (iPad or iPhone) and when you go to that room or speaker, the queue disappears and says “no music”. I watched it in real time by bringing up my Windows Controller app and when using one of iPads to change rooms, the current queue gets totally removed. This is with the newest app dated 7/17 even though it was released yesterday, 7/22.  Moderator edit: changed all “playlist” to “queue” for clarity.

I don’t seem to be able to see my currently configured Subsonic server from the new app.Will there be a way to connect to home libraries and media servers as normal? Plex is working at least.

What’s it gonna take for Sonos to do something about their new app? SO many people reporting connection issues. My speakers won’t connect. The new app is complete trash!! 3 years no problems. Give me back the old version so I can use my expensive products!! 

Under the incredibly bad Youtube Content Service - I used to have a saved Artist “Die drei ???? Kids” which contained short stories for my kids.After upgrading to the new Sonos App, the artist still comes up and all the “albums” but when I click on an album to listen to, it just shows the message "SOMETHING WENT WRONG". This is for ~90% of the listings.At the Youtube Music > Artist > list stage, I see all the “albums” but only the ones with a secondary artist listed [in addition to Die drei ???? Kids], will play.
