I can no longer select specific speakers to play specific music. Instead, each speaker plays something that was cued up days earlier and won’t shut off! My four speakers are now worthless. Anyone else have this problem? Were you able to fix it.

The new app needs to be retracted and the old app reinstated.

Start with the current room at the bottom of the screen.  Scroll up on the bottom room to get the room list and then tap the room you wish to control (that room will now be at the bottom).  Choose the source and it will play to that room.

To group rooms, choose the Group icon (two rectangles, one on top of the other) in a room, and select the rooms you wish to group.

Terrible user interface. Much preferred the simplicity of the old app.  Worked quicker and never had to restart it to get control back!

Funny, because people said the exact same thing about the old app when it was released.  There were thousands of posts calling it complicated, slow, buggy, and unintuitive.  I imagine in a couple years when Sonos overhauls the UI again, the current one will magically become the beloved old interface everyone loves.  Lather, rinse, repeat.

Jgatie: nope.plays randomly and speakers and when I click a particle speaker and select two others, it keeps going back to the ordinal clicked speakers and then all of a sudden plays on all of them. It also will not let me control volume and it won’t stop the music when I hit pause

Linda, that really sounds (sorry, no pun intended) like an issue in the local network. I’m using the latest version of the app, and absolutely not experiencing this.

One thing I’d try, off the bat, is a simple refresh of your network, by unplugging all of your Sonos devices from power, and while they’re unplugged, rebooting your router. Wait a couple of minutes for the router to boot back up before plugging back in your Sonos devices.

( a little West and South of Seattle)

I have found that Sonos achilles pain is in their software, which is inconsistent, too much of a pain to handle, has a mind of its own, when it wants to do something or not, it acts irrational.  Can’t turn off one room, on another, and randomly will play two of the three rooms.  Won’t allow adjustment of volumes from iphone any longer, and frankly, I DON”T TRUST WHAT THIS SYSTEM IS GOING TO DO NEXT, let alone consistency.  Why do I monkey around with it?  When it works it is a brilliant sounding system, and great concept.  They just need to put some “quality” time into their software and once and for all solve their problems.  I have unplugged and rebooted my router so many times that I wore out the plugs, lol!  This is stupid and I anticipated great things from the new software!!!  Written code to dissapoint!

Linda, having the exact same issue.

We have that issue too

UI software designers at Sonos and many other places just don’t prototype and test their products before releasing them.  Patches and endless updates erodes consumer confidence and no matter the beauty and sound performance of the speakers hardware all means nothing if I can’t easily control the software i.e. music being played.  Sonos get your act together.

CEO letter is unbelievable bad. You are telling us you know the update is terrible for everyone and your plan is going to try working on it by releasing updates every few weeks until you get it right.  WTF

You are controlling timing of updates so releasing updates that don’t work   How does that even happen??

We have the same problem and others. It worked perfectly for the several years we’ve had it until this update. My husband and I cannot both control at the same time so that means if we’re having a party or company, only one of us can deal with changing the music, adjusting the sound. Super super frustrating, and continually defaults to a speaker we normally don’t use and we have to manually turn all the speakers on every single time we use it .

I’m having the same issue. Pressing and holding play on my Roam won’t join an already playing speaker. Going into the app and trying to add it manually spits an error about “cannot connect try again later.”

Trying to add another in-house speaker shows the check, but no audio from that speaker.

Unchecking speakers and clicking apply doesn’t uncheck them. They remain a part of the grouping.

This wasn’t amazingly reliable before, but now it is actively got me questioning just enjoying the silence and not bothering to listen to my music. I don’t want to fight this f’ing technology  I just want to listen to my music.

This is seriously stupid.

I’m going to shop other systems… I listen to music as a way to decompress, and the system is causing me to be frustrated Every time I use it …not worth the hassle.
