So we have a number of Sonos boxes; a couple of S2 Connect:Amps and Connects, play:1s and now a Beam & Mini Sub.Everything was pretty stable until the summer, when the amps started glitching.  Some days fine, sometimes all over the place.   I am not sure what suddenly made these unstable - a random software update on Sonos or the wifi router, or the amps getting too hot in the cupboard they are in.  (Could this make this happen?).  They sit next to each other on a shelf feeding remote ceiling speakers.The other boxes work fine.I have tried all sorts of things; moving wireless router away, restarting everything, resetting, wriing differently.We have a TP-Link X20 mesh router of 3 boxes (one of which is (was) near the amps.  The amps are wired to a Netgear unmanaged switch.  The amps are wired to the switch.    (I read that mesh networks could impact performance - but it all worked fine for about 2 years.)They do the same thing, whether using Sonosnet, or the wifi network, whether st

(Newbie questions here)I have two televisions and each will have a Premium Arc.  I will also have 2 sets of Era 100s in either the same rooms or different rooms.  I want to add a set of outdoor speaks for my yard. (None of this is yet set-up)My questions are this:(1) Do I need the amp for the outdoor speakers? (2) If I do need the amp, I presume it has got to be connected via wire to each outdoor speaker, right?(3) Do I need the amp for the Era 100s that are in the home?(4) Using the app, will I be able to control what is playing on each speaker (e.g., have them all in sync, or just have the Era 100s and outdoor speakers in sync, but Premium Arc separate)?  Thanks in advance!  

I have a Sony STR-AV880 A/V Receiver vintage 1990s or so. It doesn’t have a dedicated pre-amp out for audio but does have RCA out for a 3 channel (Red/White/Yellow) A/V cable. When I connect the Red/White (L/R) line out to line in on PORT, there is no sound. Was on the line with support and after a considerable amount of time working through troubleshooting with me we narrowed it down to issue between SONY OUT and PORT IN. (yes, we tried alternate cables). They suggested contacting Sony, and I’m thinking anyone in Sony’s support department wasn’t even born when this receiver was made let alone still support it. Was ready to give up when I reconnected the PORT to my BOSE Wave Radio. Thought I would try using connectivity in both directions instead of just using the WAVE as a speaker for the PORT. Once hooked up, no sound from WAVE. It worked yesterday just fine. Only difference was that both input and output were now connected between BOSE and PORT. Just for kicks, I unplugged the cable

So recently I’ve noticed my connect amp appears to be dropping out regularly and consistently. Can support tell if the connect amp is faulty or it’s some other issue via diagnostics?

I am still on S1. I am wanting the sonance mag 6.1 garden speaker setup for outdoors. This system comes with the newer sonos amp and can power all 6 speakers and sub.  I have an extra older S1 Connect amp and wondering if it can also power all 6 of the garden speakers and amp as well? That way, I could use my extra connect amp and just purchase the garden speakers and sub separately without the newer amp.     

I have a Sonos system that I have locked down at version 8.4 because I have several CR100 controllers that were built into the fabric of my home when Sonos was in its infancy and I wanted whole house music from my own music library (a state that continues to this day) and everything still works as intended.I have a few old units that unfortunately were off line when the system was fixed at 8.4 and are hence at slightly different software versions (prior to 8.4) and although they were all working fine with other controller software (which does not care what version the devices are at) one unit has been  factory reset and can no longer be added into the existing system.I am thinking of setting up a new S1 system for those items (and only those items - a ZP120 and 2x ZP80) but am reluctant to try just in case it messes up the current working system (in particular, bricking my CR100s). Is it possible to run a new S1 system alongside the existing system without the old system getting update

Having suffered  worsening and  considerable amount of audio drop-outs from everything on my system: TV, radio, Roam, music library and vinyl over the past several months; I once again contacted customer support. After  running diagnostic checks the temporary solution was to disconnect the Sonos Port.This has resulted in all audio playing correctly with only one or two drop-outs in the day or so since the ‘fix’ was applied.The advice was to connect the Port only when we want to play vinyl, but the vinyl drops-out as well.Is there anyway I can re-attach the Port to my system, or have Sonos mis-represented the nature of their product and the Port is incompatible with other Sonos products? My system is:Room 1 Home cinema system consisting of Playbar, two x Play 3 and Sub-mini; Room2: Play1;  Room 3: Play 1; Room 4; Port and record deck; Roam

This is an installation and functionality question. I am a builder + tech/audio enthusiast but not a professional in the AV installation field.  I have an older house with wood clad walls. I am installing a TV on my wall with a recess so it sits flush to the wall. My plan was to install the sonos amp vertically behind the TV - to which i had verified the depth. However I have a question relating to vertical and hidden installations.  If I am ‘hiding’ my Sonos Amp within a wall, on a wall bracket, will there be any detrimental performance issues? Obviously I am considering heat dispersion and have allowed for passive ventilation. However the void depth in which I am installing is 90mm-100mm (64mm sonos amp, installed on a wall bracket, allows for around 30-40mm), the height and width is essentially the entire cavity of the wall. So lots of space to dissipate any heat is what I think? I will be cabling direct to the sonos amp (cat6 cable, HDMI to TV, speaker cabling + power of course). S

Hello,I would like to know if the input CONTROL IN is a trigger input ?I bought a Sonos Port and I connected the trigger line to the CONTROL IN input with a mono jack3,5 cable but the AV receiver doesn’t wake up. I have several gen 1 amp connect and would like to know if they can be used with the 6.5 Sonos in ceiling speakers?  Also, are the speakers wireless?  If so, can they connect wirelessly or do I need to connect them via conventional speaker wires?Thank you very much!Mark

Hi all, i have a question regarding my just bought Sonos Connect Zoneplayer ZP90,  i want to connect this device to my Mac mini using the 3,5 audio output on this device.  I checked and upgraded firmware of this Sonos Connect ( S1 ).  I have four Play:3 speakers compatible with S1 controller.  I setup this system via de IOS S1 app and everything is working perfectly using my iPhone and app. But when i connect the Connect with my Mac mini using a suitable audio cable , it does not work :(   No sound output at all.  What am i doing wrong or what must i do to make this work?    My goal is the 4 play:3 speakers working om my mac.  So i can adjust volume and so using my keyboard volume buttonsWho is willing to help me out in this?Much appreciated 

When trying to connect my PORT, I get an error code when it tries to verify the app. I have reset the internet, the speakers, uninstalled the app, but nothing has worked.  someone please help!

I dont know if anyone has ever asked this question here, but i want to know if you can connect a sonos connect gen 2 to studio monitors can you then interact with them in the sonos app that they can stream sound via wlan?I also want my studio monitors stay connected as my PC Output.Is it then possible to stream the sound Output of my PC to my different sonos products?like in both directions?The studio monitors go in an amp and then in my audio interface and i would connect the sonos in between those devices

Hi there, I would like to stream music through my Yamaha Srt1000 TV sound bar. I'm using a sonos play 1 and play 3. I considered buying a sonos connect gen1/gen2 to make that connection, but I'm not sure. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I am trying to set up YouTube Music on my Sonos. Everything seems to go OK. It has me log into my account. I do so. It gives me a code to authorize my account. I copy/paste the code, and I get a confirmation screen that says, Success! Your device is connected! Then when I go back into Sonos to open the service, I get an error code that says, ERROR unable to re-authorize your account. I have contacted Sonos customer service twice on this issue. Each time they think it’s just a software update or something. But I have never been able to access YouTube music on my Sonos and have been trying on and off for 2+ years. Any ideas? Hi I have a connect amp zp120 and 2pcs Play3. I would like to connect these to my home cinema projector. I connected the audio IN on AMP but how can I connect the 2pcs play3?

I want to add a second pair of hard wired speakers to my amp. I understand they will be on the same channel. Can I hook up a volume control for one of the pair? 

Hi all.  I got my first Sonos speakers, am hooked and want to expand. I got a Beam Gen 2 and a pair of Era 100s. I’m looking to add more for my large house, and my engineering brain craves more knowledge on how this system works.My questions boils down to this: I’ve read that when adding a sub to your setup, Sonos will automatically apply a low-pass filter to the sub and high-pass to the other speakers, thus unburdening them from having to handle low frequencies.  Thats cool.  My question is, does Sonos only do that when adding a sub to a group, or do they also do that for other speaker combinations. For example, if I add a new five to my existing Era100s pair, would Sonos apply some filter to optimize for that combination to account for what I imagine is better bass capability of the five vs. the Era100s?  The answer may help me think about how I grow my system either incrementally or with bigger upgrades. Hi, all!This very happy -- but recently frustrated -- Sonos user could use your help.My seemingly simple question: How can I effectively add an input for another device to my Sonos amp?My Sonos amp now talks to my TV, a CD player, a pair of wired speakers, and a handful of wireless Sonos 5s throughout the house. This set-up allowed us to preserve beloved old-school elements (speakers and CDs) while letting us listen to music throughout the house without spidering wires everywhere --- and it works beautifully!Then we decided to add a turntable to the mix --- and that’s where things got sorta complicated.We bought a Pro-Ject T1 SB (the kind with a pre-amp). Like a dummy, I assumed we could just plug it into the Sonos amp, just like our CD player. But there isn’t another in-line port to accommodate it. Bummer!Other than occasionally swapping the input RCA cables from the CD player to the turntable and visa versa (a clunky solution, but not the end of the world), does anyone have a suggest

Good morning, I currently have 2 Sonos Ones connected to an ethernet network. I need to connect a wired mic 🎤 to give conferences. If I buy a Sono Amp and plug the microphone into the jack input. Will the sound from the microphone be broadcast on the Sonos One? 

I have a simple setup with a Connect:amp, Sonos sub and two loudspeakers. Randomly the streamed music is cut out for 5 to 10 sec. The sound is not completely gone as you can hear low hz mumbling music. Most times the cut out is in the end of a song.The system is wired but the problem is the same in a wireless setup.Any suggestionsregards Niels

Trying to layout speakers for home theatre in new construction. Need to know how everything connects.I have never used Sonos. I’m old school AV receiver setup so trying to get my head around thisThis is what I was told for a 7.1 setup.Sonos soundbar connects to HDMI/ARC on tv.Will have 6 architectural speakers. Two in front, two on sides and two in rear. These will connect to Sonos Amp which will connect to Soundbar. I will have 1 Sonos subwoofer which will also connect to Soundbar.Questions I have.Is it ok to place Sonos Amp in a utility room and it will be able to communicate via network (wired) to Soundbar? How will the Amp know what the 6 speakers are? Meaning Front left/right, Side left/right, Rear left/right? Only 4 plugs on back of amp. Will sub connect to soundbar via wifi or do I need to connect to Amp thru Sub port?

Since a short time my Sonos connect 1, does not streaam correctly. It works with hickups. I changed the networkcable and assigned a unique IP adress, but it stays the same. Could I reset the device to solve this problem, or is the device broken?

Hi,I have a Sonos Connect connected to a Yamaha A-S501 amp, I also have a Sonos 5 series 1, the system is 5-7 years oldI orginally had Cabasse indoor speakers and Niles outdoor speakers, a few years ago the tweeter on one of the Cabasse speakers failed, I assume too much power so I upgraded to Klipsch speakers and more recently one of the woofers failed in the Niles. I have since purchased Sonance outdoor speakersWith volume control on both the AMP and the phone app is there a way to control the system so I don’t get too much power going through the speakers? I don’t want to blow up any more TIANigel
