Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Alexa integration was working great with my old Play 5’s. Got a new pair of Sonos 5’s, set them up, they are working fine with S2 controller. I can play music from both Spotify and the Alexa app on the iPad and drive the 5’s. But if I try to play music using voice commands to my Amazon Echo, I get an error “sorry, on kitchen is offline” (Not sure why the message includes “on”). I’ve tried ideas from the forum, including disabling and reeanabling the skill, logging out of apps, deleting and adding the devices in the Alexa App, rebooting absolutely everything, none of that works. Especially odd that playing music from the Alexa App/iPad works, but voice commands to the Echo don’t. Any new ideas? I’ve spent over an hour fiddling with these new speakers and am thoroughly stuck. On the Services & Voice tab of the S2 controller, there are sections “Voice” and “Music & Content”. Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant do work in South America on other devices. But Sonos app have them blocked. Why is that?  If you by Alexa Dot, Google home or other smart speaker they do work on Ecuador. Only Sonos have them blocked on their app.  ​​​​​If I new this I would have bought the Sonos One (SL) version instead.   ​​​

My Arc and Beam randomly make a sound or tome similar to the Alexa attention tone.   But when they do it there is no reason.  There is a quiet house.  And then [TONE]. ….   What’s causing this?   I could understand if people are talking and it mis-hears an “Alexa”It drives my wife crazy.   Or maybe it isn't Alexa...maybe it just makes its own noise?

Here’s the issue I’m having: I pair my Sonos Beam to my Amazon Alexa account. Everything is working great for a day or two. Then, Alexa stops responding to me after a few days. However, if I manually hold down the mute/mic button on the Beam, Alexa still works.I used to think it might be an authentication issue with my Alexa app. But I’m signed in and shows my Sonos is online. It’s also weird that I can still manually use Alexa by pressing a button on my Sonos.For whatever reason, voice just stops working with Beam. Exact same issue with Google Assistant. It just stops working.Anyone else experiencing similar voice issues? What’s the fix?

Here’s a strange one! I have a pair of Sonos Play 3 speakers linked to an Alexa-controlled Amazon Dot. The system has worked perfectly for 2 years. This week I upgraded my Amazon Music account to HD. Since then the system will play any music I choose but when I ask for any Beatles music I get silence. I have tested the Dot by isolating it and it will play Beatles just fine but as soon as I link it back to the Sonos speakers I get silence and Alexa says ‘Sorry there is a problem.’ I have contacted Amazon Customer Services and after re-setting and re-starting the Dot they can find nothing wrong with it. Any ideas? Thank you.

My Sonos One microphone touch control is not working, if anyone has an idea what might be wrong then tell me please.

This seems like it should be really easy, but I keep going around with this. We have an Echo Show device in our kitchen/living room (it’s an open space). We also have Sonos speakers in this same space. I want what’s playing on Echo Show to also play on the Sonos speakers.I have setup Alexa skills, also added Alexa to Sonos. But they operate as if two separate systems. I want to amplify what I am playing on Echo Show — same stuff — on the other speakers. The speakers are Sonos 1. Shouldn’t that be easy? Thank you.

I am trying to play music on the Sonos Move at the same  time as my Echo devices. I am not trying to set up a Smart Group or to group multiple Sonos speakers.

So as I understand the new ducking possibilies which rolled out some months ago, all speakers within an Alexa group should duck. I have the following speakers: 1x Play One SL stereo pair 1x Play:5 stereo pair 1x Play One 1x Echo Dot 2nd Gen All three Sonos are in a group, and also selected as “Preferred Speaker” The Sonos One and the Echo Dot are selected as Alexa enabled devices.   When I talk to the Dot all speakers duck, when I talk to the Sonos One only the Sonos One ducks? That does not seem right. Due to another bug i have undergone a full factory reset of all speakers, so it probably is an issue everyone is having? Can anyone confirm?

I’ve tried so many different groups and settings and preferred speaker choices and this doesn’t seem to be possible.    I have an Echo, and an echo dot. I also have a Sonos beam with a sub and 2 play 1’s for surround. When I added Alexa third party to my Sonos app, I’m able to use Alexa on my Sonos beam which is great! However, when I create a group to include Sonos and the 2 Alexa devices I have, I can only choose the Alexa devices to play together OR just the Sonos devices. I can’t choose all of them so they ALL play music everywhere.   Does anyone know if this is possible?! Please advise😊

   I’ve been using Sonos system with units throughout my house for a couple of years.    Recently, (just over a month) I’ve been noticing that when we tell Alexa to skip a song, it tells us that we can’t, even when running iHeart Radio.    The second issue that has also been going on for about a month is looping.  At night we like to listen to Rain/Thunderstorms while we sleep.  Normally, after requesting Alexia play Thunderstorms, we then tell Alexa “Loop On”.  This will play the 5 minute Sound until we turn it off in the morning.  Now when we request Loop On, Alexa says it cannot loop music.   What has changed?  I see that several people have made similar posts and I wanted to add my own so Sonos will see that this is a problem.   Jeff Southern Florida 33467

The green mute light will not go off on my Sonos One speakers. The speakers are not operating.The sub and play bar are OK. Turned off/on the power to the Ones. When reconnected with the wi-fi, the light went white for just a second, then went back to green. ??????

Hello,  I have a mix of Sonos Ones, Moves, and a Beam.  My problem is that when I use a Sonos device to start playing news through Alexa with either “Play my Flash Briefing” or “Tell me the news” Alexa behaves erratically.  Usually it will start repeating the lead story three times.  And then the most annoying thing is when I say “Alexa stop” it will semi-mute for a second (indicating it heard me) and then just keep going.  And we’ve tried all the variations of Pause, Stop Playing the News, etc.  What does work is if we ask Alexa to play music and then the system will do that and then we can stop the music via voice.  Obviously the button on the speaker works too.  We use the NPR skills on Echo.  I know it’s tempting to blame the skill but this skill works flawlessly on the Amazon Echo speaker we have.  It is just the Sonos devices that don’t work.  I spoke with Sonos tech help on the phone and they acknowledged the problem but I’ve received no follow-up. Hi guys!I’ve started having issues with my Beam since customer support told me to reset it after an interference noise kept happening.Alexa had been working fine, everything looks good on both Sonos, Spotify and Alexa apps but when I ask Alexa to ‘Play Rage Against The Machine’ for example, she says ‘Now playing Rage Against The Machine from Spotify’ and then silence.Same happens if I ask for a radio station.I've done a bit of digging on here and tried all the unlinking accounts, deleting apps etc but no joy. Alexa will still turn on the lightswhen asked, TV sound and PS4 sound is fine, just no music.I’m pulling out what’s left of my hair and Sonos customer support aren’t replying now which is disappointing.Thanks so much 🙂

Hi Everyone, I have a few Sonos products in my home including the new Arc, however, I’m having trouble having Alexa turn on and off the TV. I have the arc plugged into the ARC HDMI and when I set my beam up it just automatically synced and worked.     Now if I ask Alexa to turn off the TV (basement) it turns off the Living Room TV that is connected by the beam.  But it won’t turn off or on the basement TV.  Otherwise everything works.  The TV is a vizio is that matters.  

Im wandering if anyone can help.   I have Alexa fully setup on my beam and ive got Apple Music added as a service in the alexa app (it shows a green ‘linked’ under settings). Its set as the default for both music and stations. Obviously, Apple Music has been added as a service in the sonos app as well.   Normally things work fine and i can say “Alexa play xyz” and it will beginning playing from Apple Music. However, very regularly and out of the blue it will just start playing from Amazon music or one of my other music services thats been added in the alexa app. I double check and Apple music is still set as default and whats weird is if i say specifically “play xyz on Apple music” then it will work.    Normally some combo of unlinking Apple music in Alexa and re-adding solves the issue but its happened today and nothing will resolve the problem. I’m having issues with the flash/news briefing in Alexa. I ask it to play the news, which works but if I ask it to stop, it won’t. Music stops, podcasts stop, radio stations stop but voice commands for news briefings won’t work. I have to physically  stop it in the app or touch the play/pause button on the speaker.  I have tried disabling/enabling the Sonos skill but this hasn’t fixed it. Any help would be appreciated.

My new Sonos Move arrived this morning. It's set up and playing music from the Sonos App however, Alexa Voice Control isn't working. Microphone on Sonos Move is on (light on), speaker has been discovered by the Alexa App, and I've disabled and re-enabled the Alexa Sonos Skill. Still not responding to voice control.

I recently bought the LG SL10Yg Soundbar and a Sonos connect. I already have two Sonos ones and a Sonos move I use throughout my house for my music. I was wondering if/how I would be able to connect my soundbar via the Sonos connect so I can play music through all of my sonos speakers and LG soundbar in order to create a whole home audio system that I could control through the sonos app or the alexa app.    

Hey Guys, I recently got the Sonos One Gen 2, and have finished setting it all up. However whenever I go to the Services & Voice settings in the Sonos App S2, it keeps asking me to enable the Sonos Skill, even though I already have. When I go to press on it and it takes me to the Alexa it says I have already enabled it. I'm just wondering if this is a bug or if I have missed something setting it up. Thanks guys.

Hi there - I’ve got a Sonos Play 1 which we use with Alexa (and Spotify music).    For a while I’ve had problems with the Spotify app or YouTube recognising/connecting to the Sonos speaker, which is put down to WiFi issues. Similarly, Alexa often won’t play Spotify tracks - despite repeating the name back... I’ve tried disabling and enabling Spotify - but that hasn’t changed things. When I go on the Sonos app I can play Spotify perfectly through it. So it’s odd that WiFi would be the issue.    if anyone has had a similar experience or knows what this might be I’d be grateful for any tips..            

I’ve recently upgraded to the S2 app. Using the original Sonos app I had issues every now and again e.g. silence from Alexa when making requests. To fix I would unlink everything and start again. This always worked. Using the new S2 app, I’ve just tried to unlink and start again for the first time as Alexa responded with silence when I asked it to play a song. When I try to link the Sonos skill to the Alexa app it says unable to link Sonos at this time, please try again later. This is infuriating. The money these speakers cost and the size of the companies involved i.e. Amazon, you would think more time would be invested in R&D before rolling out a buggy product/service. Can anyone please suggest a fix?   I’ve already unlinked Alexa, Spotify and the speaker system from S2 app and reset the app (though when I re-open the app after a reset it does auto-find the speaker system on my network). Sonos hive, seeing if anyone else is seeing this issue. I upgraded to S2 and did a full redetect of every device in my Sonos system. All are compatible with S2 and all upgraded successful. Alexa detected my SonosOne and picked up all my devices. So far so good.  My SonosOne was not showing the mic active. I figured out this was due to the voice service not being set right. I went through pass after pass of trying to get it working only to be stopped by the dreaded error that sonos could not make the amazon account "There is a problem adding Alexa." I have tried multiple speakers alexa enabled sonos speakers; same issue. I have also ripped out the sonos skill and put it back to no avail. It all worked under S1 software. And all the Alexa-Sonos groups and play services work. So this is limited to just voice services. What is interesting is I CAN successfully add the Google Assistant service without issue. So I  thinking this is a compatibility issue with S2 and Alexa. Anyone else see
