Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Really disappointed that Sonos voice assistant isn’t available in Hong Kong yet in your stores in HK you readily market it that you have voice assistant but you don’t….this is false advertising…What I want to know isWhy isn’t it available outside of the countries listed here? When is it going to be rolled out? 

Hi there Sonos experts !I have a simple, but annoying, difficulty that I’m hoping someone has already overcome or reached a dead end with.I regularly group a number of our Sonos speakers together so we don’t get the phasing issues with them when moving from one room to another (kitchen, dining room, study). I have always used the Sonos app to group/degroup  them (& have enabled the Sonos skill in the Alexa app so I can speak to ‘her’ to play music, raise/lower volume and short circuit the syntax to do so), but I’m curious as to whether I can also use specific syntax to also group/degroup the speakers from one another if I want to play different music/content in different rooms, rather than having to use the Sonos app on my phone/iPad to do so ?If the answer is ‘you can’t (yet)’ that’s fair enough, but I didn’t want to not use the feature through ignorance. Cheers,Mike

Hi AllHope all is well.I have a Sonos ONE in the kitchen running as expected with Alexa.I have just added a PORT into the lounge hooked into my existing amp and speakers.Via the Sonos App I can get both the PORT and ONE playing music together in sync.I use the ONE for voice control and I what I would like to do is is ask the ONE to also play music into the lounge at the same time rather than using the Sonos App.  I am trying to set this up via the Alexa app adding groups but Its all getting a little confusing.So simply put, music is playing on the ONE, I then want to add the PORT via Alexa so both the ONE and PORT are playing at the same time in sync.Anyone any ideas, is this possible?Thanks :)

I just got new Sonos One devices and trying to add my first one to a “Downstairs” group that contains an Amazon Echo Dot (oder model) and an Echo Plus (also, not newest model).  The Sonos One shows as incompatible.  When I remove the echo devices from the group and add the Sonos One, then the echo devices show as incompatible.I did add the Sonos skill and followed all those steps.  I also disabled and then re-enabled the skill several times.  I made the Sonos one a preferred speaker for the “Downstairs group” but it just accepts the command but does not play on it when the other (echo) downstairs speakers are playing.Any help will be very much appreciated!

When I use the Alexa to activate something else like lights for example it automatically turns on my TV. I then have to ask it to turn the TV off.  Is there a way to use the Alexa on the Arc without this happening?  Thanks

trying to add additional voice enabled units to existing system.  I originally created an Amazon account for the purpose but no longer have access to its associated email.  When I try and add new units it links automatically to existing old Amazon account and states its sent a verification email to my redundant inaccessible account.  I don’t seem able to break this auto completion of existing Alexa account . Tried deleting all existing voice account links and starting from scratch to use new Alexa account but I can’t break out of the precompleted old account details- help please  

I have 5 Sonos rooms and have these grouped in various ways both in the Sonos app and Alexa. I’m having issues where I’ve asked Alexa to play on a particular group then either immediately after or sometime later ask Alexa to play on a single room within that group, where it then plays on that whole group againAs an example:I ask Alexa: “Play music in the kitchen”, music will play on the Play:1 in the kitchen as expected.I then ask her to stop playing in the kitchen and a few hours later ask Alexa: “Play music downstairs”. It play music on the devices in the Kitchen, Living Room and Dining Room as expected.I again ask her to stop playing Downstairs. A few hours later, I ask Alexa “Play music in the Dining Room” and it then plays music in the Living Room and Kitchen as well as the Dining Room (but not the devices I have upstairs), i.e. on the Downstairs group. If I ask her to play in a room that isn’t in that group, it is fine, so if I ask to play in the Bedroom, it only plays in the Bed

I currenly have a Sonos Move and I'm thinking of getting more speakers. My question is, if I buy 2x Sonos One Gen 2, which also have mics and Alexa, which one of them will activate if i use the voice commands? 

I just installed my new arc (upgraded from playbar) and notice the voice assistant volume is low by default.  When I increase the volume on voice assistant, the  tv volume goes on blast high. I can’t seem to have voice assistant and tv volume aligned. Anyone experiencing this issue?

Hi There,My setup includes one Echo Dot (in the kitchen), two Sonos Five speakers in a stereo pair (in the living room), and a Sonos Boost connected directly to my router.  The line-in for one of my Fives is connected to a nearby TV.  Both the Sonos and Pandora plugins are added to my Alexa app and appear to be functioning correctly. The problem:Each evening when I get home I will say something like “Alexa, play Today’s Hits on Pandora in the living room”.Alexa then replies “Playing Today’s Hits radio from Pandora in the living room” followed by “What would you like to play”.  Nothing is played.  If I ask again, same thing. The work-around:If (after Pandora fails) I then say “Alexa, play Today’s Hits on Amazon Music in the living room”, music will begin playing on the Fives.  This also works with Spotify.I then tell Alexa to stop the music and retry with Pandora and all of the sudden Pandora will work again (and continue to work for the rest of the night).Also, if I open the Sonos app

I’ve had my Sonos Ones almost 2 years and at last the mic problem has been fixed with the latest update. I now don’t have to repeat myself 2 or 3 times when I’m standing or sitting a few feet away from them, but they could hear me first time upstairs or in another room. Two years to fix this when many have complained about it.

If the above occurs; as the title suggests, the first thing to do is to “disable the affected skill and re-enable it” in the Alexa app.My incident involved Alexa saying that my ADT security system commands (arm/disarm) were not being initiated when in fact they were. Alexa would say “ADT is not responding please check the device’s network connection.”The visual indicator on the ADT panel would indicate that the command had been executed. To verify I purposely tripped the alarm to confirm even though Alexa indicated otherwise. To make Alexa respond correctly, I performed the step mentioned at the beginning of this post. I again tripped the alarm to verify.This tip (as a first step) may save you the frustration experienced if deleting and reinstalling the Alexa App and/or the app linked to the Alexa skill has been your go-to step in the past. We all know that deleting/re-installing apps is a PITA.

Hi everyone,I primarily use Alexa as my voice control. I've had the Beam (1st gen) for the last 6 months and the mic and Alexa worked just fine.  The mic was sensitive but not too much. Today, the mic sensitivity suddenly plunged. I have to stand directly above the Beam and yell "Alexa" for Alexa to recognize the wake command. The only change was last night I added Alexa to my Samsung q60t TV but removed it when I noticed the mic sensitivity drop. Google Assistant works just fine with no mic sensitivity issues. I've seen plenty of posts regarding poor mic sensitivity on Sonos devices for Alexa and I've done the following:- remove Alexa from Beam via Sonos App. - deregister and delete Beam from Alexa- deregister and delete Samsung TV from Alexa- deregister and delete all other Alexa devices (an Echo and Dot)- Factory reset of Beam- Repairing Beam with Alexa.No luck with the above. Called Sonos and they said to call Amazon support.  They offered the same fixes with no luck. Wondering if

Bonjour Comme beaucoup d'entre-nous, j'ai été obligé de scinder mon système SONOS en 2 systèmes S1 et S2 (connect Amp obligatoirement sur S1 et sonos roam sur S2 !).Or la skill SONOS ne sait pas asocier 2 systèmes. Avez- vous trouvé une solution pour gérer les 2 systèmes via ALEXA ? J'ai vu la solution stupide proposée par SONOS qui est d'utiliser Google Assistant : je pense que SONOS n'a rien compris de l'utilisation des assistants vocaux. Une autre solution est d'utiliser un autre compte alexa : quelle est la marche à suivre ? Cordialement  

Hello -Our Sonos set up plays in two parts of the house - the kitchen and the family room.  When anyone rings our Ring doorbell, or when motion is detected, Sonos stops playing in the kitchen and we have to open the Sonos app to reselect the kitchen for it start playing again.  We have Alexa & it’s what produces the Ring’s doorbell sound in the kitchen.  When I look in the individual Sonos and Alexa apps, they are not showing as connected to each other. Ring & Alexa are connected and Sonos and Ring are not connected. Any ideas? 

Is there any way to turn off the annoying sound a Sonos One makes after Alexa replies and you have follow up turned on? I like follow up mode but I don’t need the sound after every response.

My system made up of a Sonos Roam and a Beam (Gen 2) in separate rooms. Using Alexa as voice assistant on both devices. Set up was put together over a month ago and has been working fine until one week ago.  Without any change to any physical arrangement or software setting, when trying to use the Alexa wake word on my Beam, The device is having tremendous difficulty. Only hears the weak word and remains activated about 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time is split up: 25% of the time the Beam hears the wake  word and the light illuminates for just a fraction of a second before immediately turning off without listening to a command. That is to say it doesn’t even give the speaker a chance to lower the volume and listen so it does acknowledge the weak word it just instantly decides to go back to its regular state without listening to the command. The other 25% of the time my Sonos roam, located in a different room quite far away hears the command and tries to complete the task.  O

Only recently my Beam is ducking the audio when using my Amazon echo in the same room (group).It never use to duck when "playing" audio via HDMI, but it has started to do this I think since that latest update.I have contacted Sonos support but they claim that it has always done this. I have seen other post in the community wanting this "feature".Also just to add, the mic is turned off on the Beam.Does anyone know how to stop it?

I find it difficult to believe (but maybe it’s just me) but I still don’t seem to be able to ask Alexa to play ‘BBC Radio 2 in the Lounge’ (Lounge grouped to a Sonos 5). It’s fine with other (non BBC) radio stations though and even okay playing BBC Radio on the internal Alexa speaker. Is it a Tunein problem? ‍♂️

Is Alexa drop in now compatible with the arc?  I know previous products aren’t, but thought the arc was.  Needless to say, I cant get my arc to drop into other rooms.  Any help will be appreciated👍

Just recently purchased the arc surround bundle. In alexa i have set spotify as my default but it will still play amazon music unless i say play from spotify. Is there any way tow fix this or is this just how it works.

My Ring Doorbell, is not reported in my Sonos One via Alexa (Stereo Par) and it does on my Sonos One Second generation. Any Solution? I have noticed that for Alexa, the 1st gen is reported as a speaker and the 2nd Gen, as an Echo device. Is this last correct?

Hellocan we adjust the volume by a voice assistant other than from 1 to 10?If we use the TV remote control, it gives us more levethe problem may not be the same for listening to music but for the sound of the television (the 1st operation of a sound bar), we should have a lot more level available the difference between two levels is too great I think it can be fixed with a software update. thank you

I have. 5 Sonos One devices around the house.  They suddenly all showed offline.  After trying a number of things, I ended up completely eliminating all devices from Alexa, disabled the Sonos skill, hard reset every Sonos. I confirmed that there were not Sonos devices or groups set up in Alexa.All of my Sonos devices are back online.  I have linked music services and they all operate. Or rectory through the Sonos app.  HOWEVER, Alexa Voice will not activate on any of the devices.  When I choose the device, then log in to Amazon, it attempts to load voice on the device.  This is where it stops.  I get an error that says “!  There was a Problem”.   help?

Alexa is now available in the UAE and the Sonos app is still showing "Not available in your country" when can we expect an update?
