Amazon Alexa and Sonos

I was wondering if you could help me with how to Alexa to work properly with a stereo pair of Ones, as it relates to timer commands.I have got a number of Sonos devices in my home. In my kitchen I have a pair of Ones, configured as a Stereo Pair. One of the devices is called ‘Kitchen’ and the other is called ‘Kitchen 2’ The two devices are configured together into a stereo pair that is also called Kitchen.If the devices are NOT configured as a pair then I can use Alexa to set a timer on each of them correctly. I simply say, “Alexa, set a timer for 2 minutes on Kitchen,” and it works. Same with Kitchen 2.However, when I pair the two devices into a pair called Kitchen and issue the same command, I get back an error message from Alexa that says that ‘Kitchen’ is offline. I realize that Alexa is looking for the individual device ‘Kitchen’ and not the group ‘Kitchen’ and that’s probably why things are failing.Interestingly, if I say ‘Alexa, play music in Kitch

With only iPhone, I cannot swap logins on my iPhone’s Sonos App. I had to use another device - iPad to login for the 2nd home’s system. What happens when I buy a 3rd home? HELP!Ideally, I’d like to use the 2nd login on my 1 iPhone without having to delete the app and reinstalling it first. My workaround now is to use my iPad.

I own two Sonos beams . Both connected to Samsung 7000 series Tv.  Both use Firesticks. Neither will work with Hdmi  and the Beam.  I have tried  earc on and off, different HDMI ports, CEC on and off,  different cables,  called support. No one knows why audio will not  work on the beam while using firestick. One firestick is the HD 4K and one is the new Max.  Sound works fine while directly connected Ted from internet to Tv and back to the beam , it’s only while playing through fire stick. HELP !  thanks ☺️  

I see this same topic from a year ago, but no solution posted.  I use Alexa on a Sonos One to stream NPR through TuneIn.  It worked fine yesterday, but today, when I try it through Alexa, Alexa acknowledges the station (i.e. says something like “playing OPB through Tunein”) but then only silence. If I go through the Sonos app, I can get it to play just fine.  But then, I can’t get Alexa to stop it. On a related note, when I was able to get Alexa to play NPR, I could stop the playing by saying, “Alexa stop.”  But a week or so ago, this stopped working.  The only way I could get it to stop was to say “Alexa pause.” Anybody have any clues what’s going on here?

Sonos Roam - Alexa Voice Assistant doesn't recognize smart devices. I saw that the Alexa services were down until yesterday but the status shows that it is back up and it is still not working. I am quite disappointed with the Sonos Roam; I was very excited to get my first Sonos product. However, the setup has been so tedious, so many issues with making the device just play some music from my phone. And, the secondary reason why I bought this product was because it would be Alexa-enabled, even that doesn’t work.  Honestly, if it doesn’t work soon, I plan to return this product.

I used to have my Alexa set up to default play to my Sonos speaker but recently something has changed and i now need to always say ‘in the kitchen’.  Does anyone know how or if I can change it back to default play on Sonos?Thanks

Yesterday while playing a station on Sonos Five which was initiated via a request through my Amazon Echo, the station would not stop. I had to touch the Pause button on the Five. Today, I found that any request to play Sonos via Alexa Echo or Alexa App will not play anything. In troubleshooting I removed the skill, added it back in, removed the group and added it back in, removed the devices and re-discovered, rebooted everything. All firmware is up to date. Up until yesterday all had been good.Right now on the Alexa app I have the Sonos skill enabled and the Sonos Five enabled. I have no Alexa groups. I can play on the Sonos Five via the Sonos app. I can play on the Echo via a Alexa voice request to the Echo or via the Alexa App.  I can request Alexa to play to my Sonos Five via voice request to the Echo. It is acknowledged but no sound comes out. I can request The Sonos Five to Play via the Alexa App, but it does not start playing and does not show the playing bar on screen

I have had successful alexa and sonos integration for some time. Multiple ‘native’ alexa devices (spots, fireTV) and multiple sonus devices (tv sound bar & sonos 5’s) and a mixed sonos move device. Everything worked fine until a few days ago -- when I ask alexa to play my flash briefing I get time and day then “here is your flash briefing” then silence. Similarly when I ask alexa to shuffle my spotify playlist I get “Here is music from spotify” and then silence. I have powered down/up, logged out of amazon/alexa accounts and back in, deregistered services and re-registered,...still nothing.

My Roam has mostly worked for months but not won’t play music with Alexa to Prime or Spotify.  It says it is playing but it does not.   I have spent  hours removing and reinstalling apps but nothing has helped.  I have rebooted my network and the device a dozen times and that has not helped.   All my true Alexa devices work well.  This is very frustrating.  People have better things to do than fight with technology while support just takes the whole weekend off while users are frustrated.

Hello,I had a Samsung soundbar as well as an Alexa Echo in my living room.  Among other things, I used my Echo to announce when one of my Ring cameras detected motion.I replaced both the soundbar and the Echo with a Sonos Arc, and I have Alexa integration enabled on it. However, I don’t seem to be able to make it so the Ring camera motion announcements would also go through Alexa on the Arc just like it used to on my Echo.  When in the Alexa app, I select the camera I want to hear motion announcements from, but I cannot see/select the Arc to play it.I am correct in thinking that it doesn’t work that way?I searched but didn’t see a clear answer.Thanks!

Since today, my apps (iOS, Windows, 3rd party, ...) no longer show album art, title, artist, progress bar, etc. when I start songs by voice with Alexa. In these cases, the music is then streamed directly from https://d3rz60g1mtspwx.cloudfront.net and the info set is also reduced. Hello,I have been forced to turn voice control off on my new ARC because it thinks it hears ‘Alexa’ ALL the time when it hasn’t.  Tonight during playback of a film it activated three times in as many minutes.  It’s infuriating and I’ve had enough.  I shall put a my echo dot Alexa back in here tomorrow unless anyone has any idea how I can make it less sensitive?

Based on earlier questions I posed to ensure I get things right, I purchased a Sonos Five and a Sonos Amp and have them controlled by Alexa (via Echo).  Thanks to the Community members for their help with my questions both prior to and following my purchases. On my equipment, I have all the latest versions of the Apps and firmware up to date. All devices are in my “Family Room”.I set up the Five first, and during the set up using the Sonos App, I indicated its Room location was Family Room. The Sonos Five ended up being named Family Room and it was in the Family Room. When I set up Sonos Amp, I also said it was in the Family Room and it showed up with the name Family Room 2 (given, I suppose, that it was the second Sonos device in my Family Room).  I subsequently changed the names of the two Sonos devices to Family Room Five and Family Room Amp, respectively. Questions: By renaming the Sonos Five from Family Room to Family Room Five, when I

When someone talks to Alexa in my kitchen (Sonos one), it dims the audio (whilst replying) on my living room Arc. The rooms aren’t so close that the Arc is hearing the request. 

I have Sonos devices with Alexa setup in 3 rooms.  In 4th room, I have a Beam that WAS setup with Alexa, but I removed Alexa from it to try to solve this problem: while watching tv using the Beam, if someone speaks to Alexa in another room, the Beam mutes momentarily. I’ve 1) disabled Alexa (in the Sonos app) on the Beam, and left it off. 2) disabled Alexa on all devices in the Sonos app, turned back on for all but the Beam. 3) disabled Sonos skill in Alexa, then reenabled.  Help!

Hello FolksCould someone possibly help me please? I haven’t a clue with this unfortunately I possess the following Sonos products playbar (non Alexa)2x play 1s (non Alexa)1 x gen 3 sub (with Alexa)can I control all the devices which are set up for “living room” in the Sonos App with Alexa or must all products be Alexa voice controlled? Do I require a Amazon echo or similar to act as the master? If I require an echo how do I configure the Sonos to it?sorry to ask a dumb questionThanksMartin Stevens  

I have an Amazon “Echo Flex” for Alexa.  It has a silly tiny speaker and I’d like to connect it to my Sonos 5 so that whenever I ask Alexa something, it responds via the Sonos 5 speaker.   The Alexa app supports using WiFi Speakers for voice response output.  However, for the Sonos 5, the option is greyed out.  It says:“Why can't I use my Preferred Speaker?For a speaker to work with an Echo Inout, it must be able to play all audio.  Your Preferred Speaker is only available to certain types of audio, like music and audiobooks.  To use a Preferred Speaker with Echo Input, select an Alexa device with a built-in speaker.” Given that Amazon Alexa has been around for years, I thought that Sonos would have caught up?  The Sonos 5 is such a great speaker.  It seems a shame to have such small modern age issues.  

What is the point of having Alexa built into your Sonos One if you cannot combine it with your existing Echo and/or Echo Plus speakers to be able to play music throughout your house.  I have two recently purchased Sonos One speakers and was getting ready to add the Sonos Play Five, but that decision has been back shelved.  I can’t justify the $550 cost when it cannot be combined with my other Echo speakers for an EVERYWHERE experience when playing music!!! So dissapointed.

Please ask the engineering/coding team to incorporate Amazon’s ability to change the wake word and change the voice settings. Very frustrating that these options still are not included and Sonos is still essentially ensuring the virtual assistant stays gendered. Shouldn’t be that difficult and right now appears to be lack of priority/care. 

My Sonos ARC is connected to a Sony TV with a HDMI cable with ARC.  It is also configured as an Alexa.Sometimes I want the TV to be showing something, but the audio to be separate from the show. Right now it seems to “partially” work.  If I start playing from an Echo (with the Sonos set as the default Alexa speaker) the TV audio is silenced, but the Alexa audio is unheard.  Turning off the Alexa Audio (stop) does not restore the TV audio till I change something on the TV side, and even then, it seems to come back with the Volume at zero. It would be great if I could explicitly state that audio on the Alexa side takes preference in all cases.

I have a large kitchen/diner. I have 2x stereo pairs of Ones- called Kitchen 1 & Kitchen 2 in Sonos.Clearly I now have 4 Alexa’s in the same room but, due to the pairing, the 4 appear as just two Alexa devices in the Alexa app until you click on each ‘Alexa device’ and it has two speakers inside it, both of which can be configured.What I want: a permanent grouping of Kitchen 1 and Kitchen 2 so that whatever I do, they play together, ie. all 4 speakers play (as 2 stereo pairs) all the time under the command of the Sonos app and Alexa.What I get: an infuriating mix of, group them in Sonos, everything works fine… until at a random time when someone says “Alexa play...” it decides to break up the group and play from only one pair until I regroup them in the Sonos app. This is driving my nuts.I have tried what I think is *everything*… but I live in hope that the magic combo is

I have a Play 1 and a Beam and Alexa randomly stopped working on both today (have checked the mic is on).I have tried disabling/re-enable the skill, but am getting stuck when trying to enable the skill. I get the “You need to link speakers to your user@example.com Sonos account before you can add this skill.” error even though I can see my devices in the Sonos app fine. Going to the settings of each individual device shows the following under Voice:“There was a problem retrieving Voice Services account information for this room. Please try again” - this was the case before trying to make any changes.What I have done so far:Disabled the Sonos skill in the Alexa app and deleted all Sonos devices from Alexa, logged out and back in to the Alexa app Checked that my Sonos account has a valid postal address (this was suggested as a solution in another thread) Attempted to disable Alexa from within the Sonos app, but it does not show

I am trying to add my Sonos Beam to an existing (or new) Alexa group, but it does not seem possible.I'm following these steps:On Alexa, go to devices Select the Group Tap Edit Select the Sonos Beam Tap "Save"When I go back to that group, the Beam does not appear under group devices. If I try the above steps again, the Beam does not appear selected (part of the group). This is only a minor inconvenience as it prevents me from using commands such as "Alexa, turn on lights". Instead, I need to be more specific such as "Alexa, turn on living room lights". However, it seems like a bug with the Sonos/Alexa integration and I wanted to bring this up. Are others experiencing the same issue?

A couple of questions re setting up the Sonos system to be able to automatically respond upon a voice request to play:Is it OK to keep Sonos Amp and Sonos Five always on, so that a request via Alexa to associated Amazon Echo to play something on the Sonos equipment (Alexa Group) can be initiated at any time? Or do you typically turn the equipment on each day just prior to asking for something to play? (Amazon Echo is kept on.) Does Sonos Amp and Sonos Five go to sleep after a time of not playing and do they automatically awake when the Alexa command is given to the associated Echo for them to play? (This, to save energy and potentially not overheat internal components vs the always full on state.)Thank you in advance.

Alexa is supposed to be a great addition to Sonos. Are there any plans to add any new streaming services in the near future, eg napster. What about local media playing? These were asked for when alexa was initially introduced. It seems like there haven't been any significant improvements for a long time. Was alexa integration an unnecessary gimmick?
