Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Hi, I moved house recently and had to set everything up from scratch again.  Everything is now working fine apart from the fact that I cannot for the life of me get Alexa to play anything from BBC Sounds on my sonos speakers. I’m using 2 Play 1’s and a Soundbar with two Echo Dots. For the purposes of this particular problem I’m talking about my kitchen Exho Dot and my Kitchen Sonos Play 1.I can play from Spotify to sonos using alexa commands ‘Alexa play Madonna on Kitchen’. No problem, Madonna plays on my kitchen sonos. I can play BBC Sounds content via the sonos app.  I can play other services fine eg ‘Alexa play Absolute radio on kitchen’. Or‘Alexa play from Audible on kitchen’.No problem with any of this. But I cannot get alexa to pass a BBC Sounds command through to sonos. Command: ‘alexa, ask BBC Sounds to play radio 4 on kitchen’ Response: ‘playing the kitchen cabinet from 27th of august 2022’. Hi don't know if anyone else has came across this recently but whenever I ask alexa to play something it will play it but the first 10-12 seconds will play really quietly as if alexa hasn't stopped listening if you know what I mean... only started doing it in the last week any ideas peeps

For over 6 months I was able to use Alexa on my 4 Sonos devices (3 x Sonos One + Sonos Beam). It was working much better than Google Assistant and I was able to control my smart home devices this way. However, few weeks ago Alexa stopped responding correctly to some of the commands and last week it declined to work completely. When trying to troubleshoot the issue I removed Sonos skill from Alexa. Unfortunately, now I cannot add it back. When trying to add Alexa in the Sonos app I can see a message “Amazon Alexa is not available in your country”. Is there any way to bring back the Alexa to Sonos? It was working perfectly fine in English. I was wondering if the Sonos team could disable the geographical restriction in Amazon Skills store? I’m really angry as my choice to buy 5 devices (Beam, 3 Sonos One and one One SL) was driven mostly by the Alexa support few months ago...

How to enable Alexa on Sonos one speaker? Bought this in Germany and using in India .

I have many Amazon Echo devices (made by Amazon and by others) and I can change the wake word on all of them (I prefer Echo and really dislike Alexa in part because we have a young child with that name). When I ask any other device to change the wake word, they do it. When I ask Sonos, it says “you are unable to do that on this device.” SO FRUSTRATING.I will probably install a Fire TV stick and avoid using Sonos for voice commands.

When will the company look at group speakers with other brands such as Amazon this is what people are suggesting and are asking for. Customer feedback is vital and should be looked into 

Recently moved to Vietnam and when trying to add Alexa it says that it is not available in this country. Have used it in a bunch of different countries without issues. Any ideas? Need the app to allow location settings for Alexa to work, which may be an issue. 

My Roam previously play radio music without an issue. Now, if I say ‘Alexa, play BBC radio 2’ it responds with ‘playing BBC radio 2’, then ‘BBC Sounds’. Previously it would then start playing music, but now I only get silence. It seems to affect any music station I try to play, eg Smooth FM. Alexa will still answer queries, so it is connected to the internet, and I can see it on my Sonos app. Any ideas for fixing this?

Alexa plays music between both speakers just fine. If I ask you a question, though, it only comes out of one speaker. Is there a way to make the Alexa voice come out of both speakers at once?

Recently purchase the Echo Show 8 and a new Sonos 5; what is the best way to connect the two and if it is by micro USB and 3.5mmmm jack, where did you get a long cable from?  I’m based in Australia

I have been living in Japan for years and have had no problem using my America Amazon account to connect to Alexa, but I have decided that I would like to use my Japanese Amazon account for more relevant local information on my new Echo 15 screen.  In preparation for moving over, I deregistered and deleted all my Sonos devices from my American account and changed my Sonos address to my Japanese address.  But no matter what I try, the Sonos app continues to default to the NA url (North America I assume?) server for Amazon login.  My Japanese account obviously wasn’t recognized there.  I tried adding Alexa in the Sonos app using a new iPad with no Amazon apps installed hoping that the Sonos app would pick a server based on IP only, with no influence from other signed in apps, but that didn’t work.  Are there any other suggestions for forcing the Sonos app to a certain Amazon login page?

My wife and I were talking while the Sonos in our bedroom this morning while Sonos was lightly playing. Talking about a show and how it parallels the Clinton/Trump election or the Biden/Trump one and out of nowhere it beeped and started listening. Nowhere did we use anything resembling Alexa. It’s happened numerous times before. That’s really scary. Just disengaged it. I will stick with Sonos Voice Control only moving forward. 

I have Sonos speakers in 3 rooms, currently if I ask Alexa to play music from my Amazon Music Unlimited it starts playing in that room only. I know I can manually add rooms via the app but this is tedious and the rest of the family can’t access the app.Surely a multi-room speaker system should be able to be configured to play on all speakers as a default. How do I configure my Sonos system so this happens?Thanks!

I have a 10-year old set of Sonos kit: Bridge, 2 * ZP Play 1 and 1 * ZP Play 3. I can't help feeling it's time to upgrade, and I'm interested in using the system for Alexa or Google Home voice interaction. The app (Sonos 1) has told me I can't remove the Bridge and connect to wifi directly (despite a perfectly reliable hub being in the same room), so I'd appreciate advice on what my options are, and on how well Sonos integrates with Google and Amazon. I have a playbar, sub and 2 sonos 1's as my rears with Alexa built in. Since alexa doesn't allow drop in with Sonos, I am trying to figure out if I can use an echo dot for alexa (turn off alexa feature on the 1's) and still keep the surround sound as well as the easy access of playing having alexa control?Appreciate any ideas??

Hi,2 years ago, I had a VPN to use Alexa on my Sonos, because I’m from Belgium and it was not supported for that country at that time. For a reason that I can’t figure, I can’t do that anymore, but that’s ok because as you can see below, Alexa is avalaible since more than a year in Belgium :  BUT ! When I try to use Alexa on my Sonos app, or when I try to add the sonos skill on my Alexa app, there’s still this message, saying that Alexa isn’t avalaible in my country. I know that Alexa isn’t the problem here because it works just fine with other skills or with my eccho dot without using any VPN, it has to come from Sonos. Sonos, is there a way to fix this ? As a Belgian who finally get access to Alexa, I’m dying to be able to use it on my Sonos Beam or Sonos One, as I used to do years ago ! (And without having to use a VPN because it’s a pain in the a**...)Thanks in advance if you can help me. (Hope I was understandable, English is not my main language)

I am trying to set up my eight Sonos One speakers to play through Alexa. I can see each speaker in the Alexa app, and I have created a Group and added all speakers to it, but whenever I tell Alexa to play music to that Group, only one speaker plays. Also, if I tell Alexa to play music to an individual speaker, a random speaker will play. Has anyone experienced these issues and resolved them? Any help would be greatly appreciated. 

Amazon Alexa is fully supported in Brazil, including full Portuguese-BR support and Amazon sells the full Echo product range on the Amazon Brazil store.And yet, the Sonos app tells me that Alexa isn’t available here??This is so frustrating because I went through a huge ordeal to bring a sonos arc to Brazil (its massive and I had to bring it through a separate cargo package as it doesn’t fit the luggage. And I bought it specially because the out of the box integration with Alexa groups and therefore echo products.This is very disappointing and I hope this is fixed soon :(

ISSUE 1:My Sonos Arc shows up as a TV in the Alexa app. Therefore, I cannot add it as a speaker to a room. Trying to group together two Sonos speakers is my goal, which I had done previously, but all of the sudden I can’t. Music will play on one speaker or the other, but not both. I find the Sonos support site most frustrating!!  It seems that every topic is discussed for every Sonos product!  What happened to the old concept of a user nmanual for each product?A simple question - can I control my Amp using Alexa?  I have spent a great deal of time trying to work through “Set up an Amazon Alexa device to control Sonos”, but without any success!!Any ideas?

Hi,  I have found an annoying bug with the move.  When the move is taken off stand and goes to sleep after a certain amount of time, when placed back on the stand, the announcement “Alexa make an announcement…” functionality needs two takes to actually broadcast your announcement. The only fix I’ve found is to remove Alexa and re-install Alexa in the Sonos app for the Move. This fixes the issue until the move goes to sleep off stand again.  Can Anyone else reproduce this ? Thanks Tom

Alexa will open BBC Sounds on request and ask me which station I would like. It will announce the requested station but nothing happens just SILENCE  Works through the App so no issue with adding BBC Sounds as a service or linking the account. Thi issue also becam a problem in the same way in the latter days of BBC radio through TuneIn. 

So obviously Alexa can be enabled on Roam, this question is whether the Roam can be one of the "Alexa-Enabled Devices" in a group and not just a "Device".The difference being I can tell an Alexa-Enabled device to "turn on the lights" and the lights in the specific group associated with that Alexa-Enabled Device turn on. With the Roam, you need to specify the group as it only appears as a Device. For info, when editing a group, both the Beam and One appear under "Alexa-Enabled Devices" whereas Roam appears under "Devices".

There are several system design issues that I cannot get around.  Please advise.I have two separate locations in which I own and regularly use 19 Sonos devices. This includes one Roam that I take back and forth between sites.  I have Amazon Echos to control the speakers, along with the Sonos app on my phone and my PC.Problem: I cannot use Alexa with both networks at the same time (even though Alexa has no problems controlling other devices across separate networks).Details: In order to control Sonos devices with Alexa, I must use the Sonos skill in the Alexa app. When I enable the skill, Alexa knows I have Sonos speakers on two separate networks, and asks me to select one by listing the Sonos devices that are on each network. Once selected, things work fine on the selected network, but do not work on the other. When I wish to change locations, I must disable the skill in the Alexa app and re-enable by choosing the other network. This breaks the first.  If I am in location A but my wife
