Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Hello! I have a problem with my german echo dot 2. I live in Switzerland. I try to configure my echo dot with my computer because Alexa app for ios is not available in my country. It's not possible to have the english language. I must change settings to german. If I dont' do that the skills are not available... It's a big problem because I don't speak a word of german.. I have another problem too. If I try to configurate in german it's ok i see the Sonos skill but i have a message when I click the button "Enable" : "Unable to open new browser window. Please make sure popus are enabled in your browser". I have Firefox and I have "disactivate" Adblock. Please can you help me? Thanks in addvance... Just another thing : If I configurate the Sonos skill in german is it possible to turn back the language in english when the skill is configurate..??

Hi, I am having two major issues with the Alexa Sonos integration: 1) Most of the time, despite Alexa recognising my command correctly nothing reaches my Sonos players. I often have to repeat my command 2 or 3 times before anything starts playing. Alexa will say "x by the b playing on player" after I give it the command but a lot of the time nothing plays. 2) When I do eventually get an album, artist or station playing via Alexa it always seems to stop playing after the first track. Are these known issues or is there something wrong with my setup? I had lots of difficulties getting set up initially as discovery kept on finding both my players and my parents players. My parents inherited some players from myself so they had the same household id as myself. Eventually I think I managed to get their players associated with their own Sonos account I think. I'm wondering if my account is somehow still associated with their pl

Hi Sonos (I hope you read this).. I'm returning my Sonos One today, but as part of the return procedure, I didn't get a chance to say why, so here are the reasons - treat is as bit of product feedback. First of all, the Alexa trigger word rarely works properly. The One seems deaf to it most of the time and I have to keep repeating it and/r shouting at the One to get it to trigger - even in a quiet room. I had an Echo in the same place, and rarely got the same issue. Also, when the TV is on, the One will trigger Alexa constantly. During an evening, it will 'bleep' at me 20-30 times. Alexa doesn't continue to listen, so you rarely get Alexa replying with something, but the beep is annoying. Kind of ironic that it will miss-trigger so often, but not trigger when you want it to. All that said, the audio quality is so much better than the Echo, and I like the idea that the One becomes a speaker on my network (so I can use i

We have an 8 zone Sonos system made up, mostly, of pairs of Play:1's and Play:5's. We also have a number of Dots scattered around the house, so was looking forward to the Alexa integration. Annoyingly though, I think I'm going to have to switch off the integration until the software comes out of beta. For me, the show-stopper is the way all the Sonos speakers reduce in volume if any Alexa in the house is used. For example, my home office is on the top floor of the house, and it's very annoying when I'm listening to the radio, and suddenly, for no apparent reason, the volume drops significantly just because my wife has added something to the Alexa shopping list in the kitchen, or because the kids have asked Alexa a question from the family room (rooms which are far away!). This seams like a crazy oversight on the part of the developers. Is there anything I'm missing? For example, surely an easy work around would be an option to not drop the volume at a

I am having a party with a lot of commotion going on and would like to somehow disable the microphone so Alexa is not accidentally prompted. On my echo I can simply press the microphone button but not the case here. Prefer not to remove the Alexa feature because I still want it for my other sonos devices in other rooms.

I have 2 Play:3 and 2 Play:1. I can't stretch to the new Sonos with built in Alexa, so I'm considering an Amazon Echo Dot. I have a Spotify Premium subscription and normally use that when playing music through my Sonos system. My question is, could I use an Echo Dot to voice control the Sonos i.e. can I tell Echo to tell Sonos to play music from Spotify. And if that is possible, is it the Sonos system that's streaming the music from Spotify, or is it the Echo which is streaming it and then passing it on to Sonos?

I think there might be some hope. I had 3 Sonos Ones, one on its own in a room and the other two in another room as a stereo pair with a sub. The single One was really bad at waking and at recognition and I eventually gave up with it and returned it to Amazon. I now have my original Echo back there and am again enjoying accurate waking and voice recognition, even from another room. The other two Ones were equally as bad at first but now seem to have improved. They're not as good with voice as the Echos and Dots but I would say they are almost acceptable now. Perhaps there was a fault with the single one as it never got any better, but I wonder if Sonos and Amazon have made software improvements that have improved the wake word response and voice recognition accuracy of the other two. I'm sure it's not my imagination as they were pretty bad at first and I speak to them in the same way as I speak to the Echos and Dots. Has anyone else noticed any recent improvements?

I am thinking of purchased an Amazon Alexa Dot (2nd Generation) after installing Sonos 8. I use Deezer though Sonos, therefore, does it working using Alexa. Reading and watching various items from Sonos it does not mention Deeezer.

I just bought and installed the Playbar and created a surround setup with my existing two Sonos ONE. Only then, I discover something really annoying that was finally able to isolate: -When the TV is off, the ONE pair hears and acts just like expected, I can start music, ask for services, weather, etc. -If the TV is on, Alexa cannot do anything, just blinks for ever and makes an error sound after about 30 seconds. I cannot access the skills, add something to my list, ask for the weather or the time. In effect the Playbar hijacks the entire system. -Sometimes, only sometimes, after turning the TV off (it does not work by pausing a movie or even exiting the app (Amazon video, Youtube, etc) I regain control of alexa on the ONE's. just that now, it takes about 20 seconds to get an answer. Apparently it takes ages for the ONE to tell the Playbar what to do, even stop the music. (don't get me started on how long it takes now to turn off a lamp...)

I keep getting this error when trying to Alexa to play Spotify via my Play Ones ‘Your Spotify account does not support streaming to this device’ I have followed all instructions in the set up email, reinstalled the Sonos Skill, I have a Spotify Family Account. All works fine directly from Spotify and Sonos apps only a problem via Alexa. Any idea?

Just purchased a Sonos One to replace an Echo Dot in the bedroom. So far, I am very disappointed. With the Echo dot, I could talk normally to it and it would work. I could even say 'Alexa' from outside the room and it would pick up and respond. With the 'One' I have to say 'Alexa' repeatedly, often shouting before it responds. Even when it does hear me, often the light on the top flashes for a while then silence. No errors, no notifications, no idea about what has gone wrong. Is this 'usual' behaviour or do I have a faulty unit and should return it. Sound quality is great when it works, but for the Alexa functions, the echo dot was far superior.

HI, I have only one room using Sonos. I want to use Amazon Echo to control Spotify, but don't want to always have to say "in the living room" since I only have one room in my system. Is there a way to manage this? Thanks.

Seeing Alexa launches in Canada on Dec 5th, I can't test this yet. I have 4 Sonos Ones and curious if I'll have any issues integrating Alexa into the Control4 or should I have planned for a bunch of Echo Dots. Also a big plug, please give me back how Sonos used to be integrated into Control4, this approved driver is like stepping back into the stone age...

I purchased a pair of Sonos One's about a month ago but have been unable to use Alexa on them because they can't hear me unless I'm standing literally right next to them. An update was released, 8.2.1, and I'm really anxious to get it to see if it helps fix this problem so I can start using them. So I go to Sonos app, press 'update now' -> tap the button update -> then it asks me to open in App Store -> I'm at the Sonos Controller app and press open -> takes me back to where I started in the Sonos app asking me to 'update now'. So basically I'm unable to get the update because it keeps taking me through this endless cycle. So not only is the Sonos One defective but the update is defective too?? Or am I somehow doing something wrong?

Hi All, Hopefully you will be able to help. I bought the Sonos One and went through the set up all great. One week later Alexa responds to commands and will play music on other speakers but if you ask her to play music on the Sonos One it says playing music but nothing happens. Alarms etc work but not music. Can start music manually with the app and tried deleting and restarting. The Sonos One replaced my play 1 which has moved location and been renamed. Any advice much appreciated. Ade

I have Pandora selected as my default music service. However, unless I say “From Pandora” when giving the command, Alexa is always playing from Amazon. The only time this isn’t the case is when my Pandora station doesn’t share the same name of an Amazon station. For instance, if I say “Alexa, play New Age on office” it plays from Amazon, I’m guessing because it’s defaulting to Amazon’s generic genre station rather not than my Pandora one. However, if I say, “Alexa, play Accoustic New Age Radio on office” it grabs my station from Pandora. So the default music service only sorta works, at least for me.

Im looking to see if anyone has any information from sonos on whether they intend to implement the ability to use the one and play one as a stereo pair. I purchased the one for this exact reason and Im fairly surprised and disappointed that its not available. I can see from other posts that there is no work around, but im curious if anyone has a hack and/or have sonos given any intimation of whether they will be implementing this.

Color me surprised. I always in a snarky way ask for a briefing and this time I got one! With external audio and everything. A day earlier than planned even. Alas. Things like Sleepsounds, etc. audio from other apps is not working for me. But. Sat there surprised and happy that without a software update I was finally getting a flash briefing. Now if I can get sleep sounds. Yay!

Have a weird situation: My Sonos One has been working great with Alexa, but all of a sudden it interacts with me fine, but when I ask it to play music, it confirms what it's going to play, but I never hear anything. The Alexa app shows everything as normal, and of course I can use the Sonos app directly to push music to the speaker but for some reason Alexa isn't cooperating with the Sonos One. Again, if I talk to the unit, it responds and acts exactly as I would expect and other Amazon Echo units in the house work just fine. Any suggestions, ideas, thoughts on what might be happening?

If I ask for the weather on my Echos and Dots, I get it for my UK location. If I ask for it on my Sonos Ones I get it for Seatle, and the Alexa app won't let me save a changed location for the Sonos Ones. This is what Amazon support say: "From your email I understood that your Alexa device is giving you the wrong weather information. I can definitely help you with this. "If you're unable to edit the device location on your Sonos speaker with Alexa, is because this device hasn't been completely released on United Kingdom" Any idea when Sonos will get this working on their devices?

When the integration was first released, my playbar in the lounge would lower volume when my echo dot heard the wake word. It still works this was in another room, but has stopped working in the lounge. I've tried disabling the Sonos skill and re-enabling, to no avail. Has anything changed in the way this should work? Has anyone else experienced similar?
