Advanced setups

Hi! Is there any type of Bluetooth product out there that could somehow tap into the Sonos Connect (that I’m using for my turntable) and stream music to my Bluetooth headphones? Some days the family just isn’t into Dad blasting his tunes, if you can believe that. Thanks!

I have a PS4, and a projector that does not have optical audio nor ARC output. I would like to connect my PS4 to my Beam via optical audio. When I do this, the Sonos app does not recognize any source. Is this possible? Please advise. 

I’ve just had a new Sony Bravia and I’ve finished setting it up with my Playbar and 2 x Sonos One (Gen 2). I’d spoken to a rep at the place I bought the TV from and they assured me that I could use my setup as surround sound, which I had been unable to do on my previous TV. I have the Playbar is plugged in via the Optical port and the Sonos One’s are setup in the room as the surrounds. I’ve setup all audio settings on my TV and Sky Q box to Dolby Digital but I’m still struggling to get the audio I was expecting. I read online that all TV channels don’t necessarily output DD5.1 but I’d have expected Sky Cinema and Sky Sports among other channels would output as DD5.1. I’ve cycled around some channels and check in my Sonos app and I can see the audio on my Playbar is only Stereo 2.0. The model number of my new TV is KD-49XG8396BU. I’d really appreciate some advice.

With the new Sonos Arc, did Sonos missed an opportunity in not supplying an HDMI out?    I am setting up a projector and will use a Sonos Arc, but there will be no way for me to use Dolby Atmos. The source I will be using is a Apple TV 4K and a Sky Q 2. Both support 4K and Dolby Atmos. The normal setup would be to connect both sources into a TV and then connect the HDMI eArc from the TV to the new Sonos Arc. But since I am using a projector (same if one would use and older TV), there is no HDMI with the Arc output on the projector.    Many new sounds bars mitigate this issue by having a hdmi out on them. So you would plug your Apple TV or Sky Q direct to the Sonos Arc and then from the Sonos Arc to the projector.    I understand that only enables you to connect one source at the time, but one could use a HDMI switch before the Sonos Arc to achieve this. For example the Philips Hue HDMI sync box could be great.    But it looks like there is a miss opportunity here. I cannot see any HDMI

I’m an IT engineer and have an enterprise class wireless network in my home.  I have 3 Meraki access points all broadcasting the same SSID with 2.4 and 5Ghz enabled.  Each access point is on a separate channel following WiFi best practice of 1, 6 and 11.  I would prefer to run Sonos in wireless mode but that doesn’t work, I get all kinds of sporadic behavior.  So I have been forced to run in SonosNet mode and using channel 11 for SonosNet.  Which still of course conflicts with my AP on channel 11 but at least it is the farthest away from any Sonos speaker.  Has anyone successfully got Sonos working on a Meraki wireless setup with 3 or more AP’s?

UPDATE: I have just realized there is an “advanced setup” section of the forums. But I don’t know how to move my existing question. If a moderator can move it, please do!   I’ve had a Sonos system for a while (all Play3s)  always with one wired to my home network. Times have changed, my home network has grown more complex and now I’m in the situation where I have several APs all using the same SSID but on different channels. This is a common practice to increase coverage, but the end result is on 2.4Ghz, the APs are already broadcasting on either 1,6, or 11. Letting Sonos use SonosNet, just ends up causing interference both to my wifi network and to Sonos. I use my wifi network for a lot more things, so I’m not very tolerant of interference from Sonos here. I’m comfortable with the reliability of the wifi network, so I decided to try moving Sonos to my wifi network. hi all, i have a mix of wired and wireless units around the house inside and out. The colours on the matrix change often with sometimes red showing but the system works without dropouts.  As you can see on the screenshot there are several undefined devices. i have several root bridges, not all devices have the noise floor info and OFDM info also. I have my managed switch with STP on, but this setting makes no difference to the squares showing that the STP is forwarding, this is the same state with the STP turned on or off on my switch. I've also made sure all devices have their IP listed in the DHCP table of my router so they get the same IP every time. looking for some help thank you  

Hi all, I have a very nice 5.1 full sonos SetUp; 4x Sonos OneSL + PlayBar + Sub Listening to TV is great with the central sound coming from the PlayBar under the TV Experience with Music is not good because we can not TurnOff the PlayBar without having off also the Surround….. How can I set-up my installation to listen music only with the OneSL+Sub WITOUT the PlayBar ?( way too much presence of the PlayBar) Thanks to all !!

I use my Amp to allow me to use my Monitor Audio Bronze 2 Stereo speakers. I have now ordered a Sub which I want to use with this set up but have a concern. Will it integrate and perform the way it should? ie. will the Sub take the bass sounds 'away' from the MABs, deliver enhanced bass and allow them to deliver 'better' mids and highs?

Hi My PC has two active studio monitors connected via an audio interface. Is is possible to add these speakers to my current Sonos system if I purchase an Sonos Connect of some sort? If I can, will the Connect need to be a Connect:Amp or would an Gen 2 Sonos Connect (without amp) work ok? I’m also reading about a 70 ms delay with the Connect. Would this mean that my monitors would be out of sync with the rest of my system if I’m streaming e.g. Spotify, or from my line in turntable through the house? Thank you for any help.

I’m trying to figure out what the best setup would be to do a 5.1 setup with in-ceiling speakers only? The house I’m working on is pre-wired with 3 front speakers and 2 rear speakers, all in-ceiling. They want to utilize these all since they “paid for it” instead of simply going with a Playbar/Beam w/ rear surrounds.  What’s the best way to make this work?

I’m working with 8 Sonos Connect devices, plugged into a managed switch. The Sonos devices are daisy-chained in a pair of four. Meaning they’re only 2 total network cables connecting to the switch. I quickly learned about the issues w/ STP/Broadcast storms after having plugged more than 1 of these devices into the network. I was able to find a helpful document on configuring STP on the Dell switch to accommodate this. Even so, I ended up plugging in a small, unmanaged switch solely for these two Sonos connections, and a downlink connection from the unmanaged switch to the Dell PowerConnect. This seems to have alleviated the issue with STP. Here are some questions I’d love answered, if some of you can spread the knowledge. What is the exact, technical reason plugging two Sonos connects into a managed switch leads to a broadcast/STP issue? I am building a multiroom set up through our house using 3 Sonos AMPs and existing wired passive ceiling speakers and bookshelf speakers. Using the Sonos Amp for what it was intended to be used for is working very well. However, We also host live music gigs at home and it would be great to be able to connect our analogue wireless microphone system into the line-in on the Sonos AMP, to then amplify the sound out to our wired ceiling speakers. No streaming required.   I tried this last week and the latency made it unusable for live music, even with uncompressed line-in on the Sonos AMP.   I understand from other threads and the help pages that this is because the AMP uses buffering to help with reliable streaming to wireless speakers and causes a delay of around 75ms.   Last week I hooked up the wireless microphone system to the line-in on an old school HiFi A/V receiver / amplifier, connected to the same ceiling speakers and achieved undetectable latency. Hi all   My older Sonos system worked fine. Playbar, 2 play 5 gen 1 and a zp80. I have virgin media and used an ASUS RT60 as a repeater as the house is big enough to need help with a stronger WiFi signal.    I decided to upgrade, using the original upgrade program, to two play 5 gen 2, a Port and a Move. (I will pass over the annoyances in Sonos changing the policy to allow older devices to be kept/used).    At the same time I also bought a Tenda MW6 mesh system for my house, with 3 units. They are in bridge mode and I was using the virgin modem router alone as a router (not the ASUS).    I engaged with Sonos support as when I connected two devices with cables, my network went down. Turns out the virgin modem is poor so I connected the ASUS again and ran the virgin unit in modem mode. No more crashing, all good.    However, I’m finding that the Move - which has to connect to the WiFi rather than SonosNet - is causing issues. Have my Sonos network on Unifi US-24-250 Switch - 4 wired (wifi off on 2) & 6 wireless Network gear is ER-X → US-24-250 off that is 2 x UAP-Pro and US-8 in the shop. Experiencing dropouts when using RTSP across switch and then enabling STP on Sonos wired ports. When entire switch is using STP, there are a variety of issues with non-Sonos wired devices like slow connect-to-LAN times. I’ve read a number of threads from different time frames and wanted clarification on current best practice settings for Unifi switches? I’m currently running STP (4096) on US-24 and STP (8192) and having dropouts? This was the settings before playing around with RTSP config mentioned above so I’m at a loss. Can submit diagnostics or anything else if requested. Would just like to make this work on all fronts.   Sonos Support InfoUS-24-250 Config 

Dear friends! I am working on new Multiroom Audio Project. We have a 4 floor house. Total number of Sonos devices have to be 50+. I know that maximum number of Sonos devices in one system is 32 units. What is a best way to divide system? Do somebody did same systems? Need advice from practice. =)  

Hello I just purchased a Sonos Port in order to connect my Beosound 3200. I ordered this cable and connected to the AUX in my B&O system, and to the “out” on my Sonos Port. Nothing is happening, no sound no music. Tried both Sonos App and AirPlay. i tried on another system I have (a Yamaha soundbar) amd works perfectly.    attached is the cable I have. It is a 7DIN, now waiting to receive a 5DIN hoping it would work.    do you know why Sonos port is not working? 

I have 30 Sonos components hooked up in this house. Two Playbars, Five Subs, One new Amp, Two Play 3, the rest mainly Sono Ones G1 with one Sono One G2, and a handful of Play 1s. Two boosts.   Main problem is when I switch from Pandora to Apple Music. The devices cut in and out for one to two minutes. Also I’ve noticed that on my downstairs Playbar surround sound when playing music it gets a half second lag after a few songs. This is the only room that has ever played out of sync. Only way to correct is by powering off the room and then bringing it back into the fold.   I looked at my Sonos Matrix and so much of it is RED RED RED.

I am trying to find the best way to integrate Sonos with my already pre-wired family room sound system.What I have:   Living Room 4 rear speakers (pre-wired in the ceiling) Front LR speakers (pre wired in the wall) Front Center speaker (pre wired in the wall below the TV) TV above the fireplace Currently using a Receiver in the basemen Rest of House 12 other zones in the house with a 12 zone amp in basement.  I plan on using Connects or Ports for all of those (NOTE: all zone speakers in the ceiling wired to the basement). What I want: The ability to play music via Sonos to all 7 in-wall speakers in family room. The ability to hear my TV sound coming out of all 7 in wall speakers The ability to also play the TV sound in any other room (I can live without this) Use my existing speakers instead of putting an ugly soundbar in front of my inwall speakers (seems tacky) I NEED a great quality center channel… I can't hear dialog very well with current set up. Has anyone had any success in setting up a wifi only environment with the ORBI WIFI 6 router and mesh system    I am trying to set up the MOVE and I can’t get it    Is there some workaround to the 5ghz issues as I believe the Orbi only broadcasts in that space   Thank you   Peter    

Hi, Recently, I bought a Sonos 5.1 system (Beam, Sub, 2 one SL) and I did the Trueplay. These days, I realized that the Sub has a low crossover configuration by default, like 80 Hz. My problem is that, to hear the subkick of a song, I need to turn up the volume of the sub to - 3 approximately, and then, when I'm watching to a film, I feel a huge difference of volumes between the dialogues and the bass effects. So, my question is if there is some option available in Sonos to be able to change the crossover of my Sub to 100 Hz. I suppose there is some one because the Sub is an active subwoofer… Thank you. 

I’m not sure if the problem is from a Sonos or Ubiquiti update but when I first setup my large 27 speaker Sonos system last August everything worked good. Recently I noticed that I could not group certain speakers together and I could not create a stereo pair no matter how hard I tried. The speakers would work individually fine while the grouping functions between certain speakers would fail consistently. From long wisdom in working with large Sonos environments (I have two) I learned that in order to get the best performance and reliability I would make sure there was always at least one wired Sonos speaker in close range to every Sonos wireless only speaker to make SonosNet work best. In the end I had six Ethernet wired speakers doing this job. To accomplish this I had one wired speaker right where my main internet switch was located. I then utilized Actiontec MoCa adapters via existing coax cable to connect two more wired speakers and I also utilized the 5GHZ wireless uplink feature

I recently purchased two IKEA Sonos Symfonisk products (lamp+shelf), I’m hoping to make them work as a stereo pair (L/R), unfortunately after following all advice and guidance of ikea and sonos in order to pair them together, I’m still unable to do so each time getting the error message: Stereo pairing unavailable You need to have 2 compatible products set up to create a stereo pair. any suggestions to solve this?

Just bought a new SONOS Move. Right now, I cannot decide if this was a really stupid move (get it), on my part, the answer to my question will answer this for me. I have multiple SONOS products, sporting a total of 14 units. And now a Move. But connecting it to my existing system is not a process I get or agree with. Seems to me, that the ONLY way, I’ll ever get this Move to function, is to provide the unit my wifi credentials . Can this really be true? I mean, when the other 13 units clearly function together, and a easily connect without providing any wifi credentials. Everything else is connected via cable through a ZP90, and I intend to keep it this way. Is there any way, that I can possibly connect this Move to my existing system without providing my wifi credentials to the unit? Maybe create a temp guest network and then disable that to include the Move to the SONOS wifi instead?
