Advanced setups

I have a Sonos Arc, Sub, and 2 Play 1’s. Can I listen to Music differently and with only the 2 Play’s + Sub (2.1) instead of with all speakers including Arc 5.1?

I have looked at many threads on similar topics but none of them addressed my need. I am installing two outdoor speakers which will be connected to the Sonos Amp in my basement.  I then plan to have occasional TV viewing outside and I am looking for a way to have the TV audio play on the outdoor speakers.  I will not run a HDMI from the amp in the basement to the TV outside. I am looking for a wireless solution, is there a wireless HDMI that would pass the audio signal?  Wirelsss Bluetooth signal?    A less optimal solution, I have a roam that I could try to connect to the TV via Bluetooth and then group with the outdoor speakers? 

We have a ton of difficulty getting consistent audio to come out when using Apple AirPlay to play Apple Music through our all of our Sonos Speakers. We have 10 varietal (brand new) speakers and we use a Sonos Port to play audio through additional old hard-wired speakers using a regular Yamaha amp. When it’s working, it’s amazing!!Wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to listen uninterrupted. It goes off regularly now, even when I leave my phone stationary in the kitchen.  Thanks for the help!Jordan   PS: We much prefer airplay because of the Apple Watch compatibility with Apple Music. I have previously had issues playing to multiple devices, especially ALAC. The solution was to add a couple of ethernet connected devices to SonosNet, this has worked well.I understand that the first device playing is the group coordinator, and if possible should be a wired device.Reason I ask, is I’m thinking or replacing some wired P1’s with ERA100’s and don’t want to break my existing system, ie cause drop outs etc. Here is the Network Matix with P1’s connected to ethernet, this is fine and stable:  I disconnected the two P1’s I want to replace with ERA100 and SonosNet doesn’t look so healthy. If I add a couple of ERA100’s in this setup, I would be stressing the SonosNet again, and the drop outs may return? What happens when a non-SonosNet is the first device?eg lets say I start streaming to an ERA100, and then group a non-wired SonosNet device.The stream will go through router, via WiFi to ERA, back via WiFi to router, then via ethernet to wired SonosNet device, and then onward via

In the old days before Sonos I used to just be able to sync up with my neighbour (we have great neighbours and enjoy the same music) and put it on the same radio station. Because it was on the same time delay (instant) we could enjoy the same environment without two different sounds going on. Now with streaming services and delays in network traffic not to mention Sono’s time delay to make sure all the speakers sync up we can’t do this. Is there anyway to do a neighbourhood sync so we can give permission or even a crazy technical hack (we are both pretty technical) to make this work. Only think I can come up with is to run a network cable between the houses but then we would still need to be on the same network. Thoughts? 

Hey there! I’ve never had trouble connecting my Sonos to the internet. It’s only about 2 years old. I moved last week and my new apartment uses AT&T InstantOn internet. I don’t know many details about it or what to even look for as everything is already set up. Has anyone encountered this problem or know how what I can do correct anything? I usually believe problems like this are due to user error but part of me feels like I’m going to have to retire my Sonos until I move into a place with regular internet? (My apologies, I am very tech and internet illiterate and can’t believe I just said “regular internet.” Lol)

Hello,I have Sonos in two homes on obviously different networks.  One system is relatively new and I can upgrade to the S2 app.  The other system has an older component on it that still requires S1.  If I upgrade my S1 app at the home where it can be upgraded will it turn into S2, erase the S1, and thus prevent me from using it at the home that requires S1? 

Hello sonos community!Is it possible to group two rooms with one having the sonos beam+sub+one sourrounds (capable of dolby atmos music via apple music) and the other room having the new era300 and both playing dolby atmos?Currently the 2nd room is equipped with a five and when I group these rooms I loose the dolby atmos format for all speakers…Thank you in advance!

Hi,I would like to make a feature request to maintain Dolby Atmos when speakers are grouped.My setup: I have a large open plan kitchen, family, dining room. In the family room (TV area), I have the Arc, 2 x One SLs and the Sub Gen 3. In the kitchen-dining area I have another pair of Ones. When playing music I often play through all the speakers so as to fill the room and get the benefit of the sub.Yesterday, I tried playing Atmos music through the Arc setup which sounds great in the family room area. However, as soon as I add the Ones in the kitchen-dining room area, I lose the Atmos in the family room area. It would be great if the system could continue to play Atmos music through the Arc + One SLs while also playing (stereo) music through the other pair of Ones.Hope that makes sense, Thanks!

Hi gang,I’m getting a little frustrated here and want to make sure this will even work before spending any more time! I have a Port in my office running to our main router through ethernet. Wifi is turned off for this Port as there is a phono stage in close proximity. The router is then connecting to a mesh network point (wirelessly) in another area of this house. This point has an ethernet port and is wired to a Connect on another hifi system. I was hoping this would create a Sonosnet mesh network for the three One SL’s scatted around the house, but it doesn’t seem to be doing so. When I enable wifi on the Port it does work. Is Sonosnet unable to interface with hardwired components? Thanks!

I have a 5 AMP system to power my home ceiling speakers. I have them connected to my network via one ethernet connection from one amp (let’s call it amp 1) to my switch.  The rest of the amps (2-5) are daisy chained via Ethernet cables from 1->2->3, etc so the entire system is hard wired. I am getting a Sonos sub that I would also like to hard wire into my system. My problem is that the room/amp I want to ethernet connect it to is amp 1.Currently, amp 1 has both ethernet ports taken..one connection to my switch and one ‘beginning’ my daisy chain to the rest of my amps. My question is..can I move my switch/ethernet connection to the amp with an open port?Would the amp now connected to the switch/network now be able to connect itself and output my network to the others or would I have to reset and redo my network to get it all working correctly?Before I change it over, I’d like to know so I don’t break anything.  If I would have to do a system reset, I would probably just connect s

The SONOS system will require specific features enabled in a Cisco controller-based wireless system, such as the 2504 WLC, in order for reliable operation wirelessly.  Things like Airplay will not function without proper configuration.Here is a list of features enabled on my 2504 Wireless Controller that resolved an ongoing issue where the SONOS One speakers would not “show up” on Airplay lists on my iOS devices.   The SONOS app would, however, function properly.   After months of sporadic operation, and iterative changes to configurations -- the following features proved to work well: Enable “Broadcast Forwarding” Set AP Multicast Mode to the Group Address of 239.1.1.1 Ensure the mDNS setup includes the “Services” of AirTunes, AppleTV.  (There are other Services you can enable in the mDNS>General menu if you’d like) Enable Global Multicast Mode Enable IGMP Snooping Enable MLD Snooping Within the WLAN Configuration: Under Advanced Tab… Uncheck DHCP Addr. Assignment “Required” box. 

Hello all you experts!! I am seriously considering purchasing the latest generation of the Brennan (B3) to rip/store/manage/play by CD collection to my Sonos ecosystem. I have read and watched what I can find. I am eager and curious to hear your experience -- how easy was it to setup? How easy to use (play directly/wirelessly to Sonos “rooms”), any issues, etc. Thank you in advance, David

Hiim trying to connect my unmarked party decks to my Sonos amp with 2 rca leads, I have turned the amp to line in using the amp but it can’t detect the unit, I’ve tried starting every thing up , then plugging in the rca leads but still no sound and nothing detected, do I need a pre amp many thanks

Can I connect my earc output from my Onkyo reciever directly to the sonos arc? Thanks!

Hello !I recently bought a Sonos Ray to remove my bulky pc speakers.The Sonos Ray works... but randomly:Sometimes, after 5 minutes (sometimes 2 hours), the sound will start to scratch which forces me to change the audio source and then put it back.The speaker is up to date, my computer too, Windows, the Bios too.I also tried to change the optical cable but the problem is still there.If ever, my motherboard is a MSI Z590 Torpedo and I'm under Windows 10. Have others already had this problem?Thanks 🙏 

Hey all.To say that trying to figure out how to play my records after switching to Sonos has been a nightmare would be an understatement. I can’t seem to figure this damned thing out.I moved to a new condo and downsized and had to kill my onkyo amp and enormous speakers. It was just too cluttered. So I got the Arc, Sub and a couple of Ones for the rear. Great - works perfectly with my Samsung Frame as a surround system!I also got the recommended Sonos Victrola. Went though three of them - the sound was just awful. Massive interference and crackling. Must be something to do with the condo as nothing worked. So that went back.My latest effort is failing. I got an Audio Technica LP120. It has both Bluetooth and USB output. First of all I hoped I might be able to just Bluetooth connect to something… Like my mac or maybe the sonos itself. I’m trying to figure out how to stabilize a Sonos system (16 zones made up of 28 Sonos speakers) spread out across 4 floors of a house. Individual zones generally work well, but as you group more zones together for a party, issues increase such as big delays getting music to play and operating transport controls, UI errors like “can’t play song,” and speakers randomly dropping out and coming back. Most zones are individual speakers, though some have 2 speakers, and there are 3 TV rooms with Sonos soundbar/rears/sub. The homeowner has spent many, many hours with tech support and tried all kinds of different configurations (Wifi, SonosNet, etc). The network is made up of (4) Eero Pro 6, all wired with Ethernet. WiFi is fast with 400Mbps down in all rooms.  There are 3 more Ethernet cables through the house that could be used to wire Sonos speakers. The Eeros also have spare LAN ports on them. Questions:This is reaching the upper limit of 32 total devices supported in a Sonos system. Will

I’ve set up my Port to play line-in output through to a One-SL pair in a different room. I want to be able to select between two sources for that - turntable or CDplayer.I’ve done this by connecting my Port to an analogue (Marantz PM5005) amplifier. I’ve connected the Port’s line-in RCAs to the amplifier’s Recorder-out RCA ports. My turntable (Pro-ject Essential III) is connected to the Phono-in RCAs in the amplifier (i.e.there’s a built-in pre-amp in the amplifier). I also have a  (Marantz) CD player connected to my amplifier via CD-in RCAs.Both CDs and vinyl sound great on my analogue wired speakers.To get digital output on my One-SLs in another room I select line-in input on my Sonos App. I play vinyl by selecting Phono on the analogue amplifier. This all works perfectly. However, when i select CD on the analogue amp, the sound through the One-SLs is hugely distorted.Does anyone have any idea why this happens?  The phono signal has gone through pre-amp so the signal power shouldn’t

I've got the following Sonos system including a Sonos port denon receiver 4500 connected to the Sonos port via “CD” input on receiver to the Sonos portfluance rt-85 connected to the denon receiver built in phono stage  is there a way to play the vinyl to the port for Sonos?  I’ve tried connecting a cable for zone 2 on the denon to the port’s “in” connections and setting up the line in as seen on a few videos but I get no audio 

My home network is an Orbi router with three Orbi satellites, now all ethernet connected. I’m considering adding a fourth satellite, primarily for better coverage to hopefully make my Sonos network more stable. If I do, I would ethernet connect one each of two separate pairs leaving the other paired speakers on wifi. Or will the ethernet speakers somehow “take charge” of the non ethernet paired speakers?I also have a Sonos Arc soundbar that is ethernet connected to one of the satellites, which is also ethernet connected, part of a system including a Sonos sub and two Sonos Ones in the rear. I was told they all work together through Bluetooth at the direction of the Arc. So my question is, will the Sonos Ones used just for music elsewhere in the house, do the same.I hope all this is clear and look forward to your responses. Thanks in advance.  

Hi,Looking to make a request to be able to create custom sound profiles / config similar to “night mode” and “speech enhancement” but with ability to have control on the levels in both of these areas. At the moment I find that with night mode off the background sounds by default are too loud in comparison to the speech but with night mode on you lose too much of the background sounds so an ability to control this and make a profile from it would be great as I find with night mode off I’m having to turn up volume when it’s a “dialog scene” and then turn volume down when it’s a “action scene”.  With speech enhancement off the speech is drowned by the background sounds, so find I permanently need it on but again having variable controls on this would be an overall improvement. N
