Advanced setups

If there is a Sonos FAQ on this I wasn’t able to find it…I’m going to be setting up Sonos gear in a second home. I’ve seen a number of responses on how to setup Sonos gear in a second location and I’m not sure which route to take.It sounds like I can just use a single Sonos login/account and just add a “second system” or add “new Household” (unsure if those are different terms)Questions:Can / Should I create a WiFi network that has the exact same SSID WiFi Name and Password in the second home or will that confuse the app? When I begin to set up the Sonos gear in the second home do I... just start adding the gear piece by piece? Would it just “gray out” gear that is not physically present and in a different geographic location? or create a “new household”?  (I don’t see this option in the app currently) Or is there a way to “Add a new system” to group the gear together. (I don’t see this option in the app currently) Ideally I would be able to flip back and forth (location to location

Hello community ! I recently bought a BEAM Gen 2 and I’m trying to setup it on my laptop. I already read Using Sonos as PC Speakers and How to set up your Sonos Beam on a Windows 10 PC posts but I still have trouble to succeed…I have plugged an USB to S/PDIF DAC and configured it just like on the first steps of the second post I mentioned earlier. I can’t proceed with the step that demand to define “ Dolby Digital “ as “supported formats” since my Windows version seems to be updated compared with the original post and I can’t reach this advanced setting window. But it works very well when I plug some speakers with a jack cable on the DAC so I guess the minimal setup is ok.But when I plug the BEAM to the DAC via the optical cable, no sound is out.The BEAM works well in WIFI (when I display music on it, from Spotify for instance) and the HDMI cable seems good too since it works well on a PC screen.I’m sure there is not much to do to make it work, but I have hard time to find it out… And

Hey I have an arc, and 2 rear in walls connected to amp for surround for my tv watching setup (let’s call it “tv setup”)in addition to that - I have few one’s spread in my house and kitchen and a five in my balcony. i want be able to watch tv with the arc and in walls, and in addition to play Spotify on the rest of the speakers including the “tv setup” when want to be in “music” mode.how easy is it to switch between the 2 setups ?

As I try to get my three wired Connect:Amp system configured for inter-vlan connectivity, I’ve noticed that depending on which vlan I’m connected to, the app displays one of 2 different “Let’s fix it” messages:Sonos and your mobile device must be on the same network. Let’s fix it Unable to connect to Sonos. Let’s fix itDoes anyone happen to know if there is a difference between the 2 messages as far as what the app thinks is going on? The two vlans are configured identically and each one will control Sonos if the connection is first established using the Sonos vlan and then swapping networks. It seems that some initial “handshake” is not properly configured still, but once open, it stays open…at least for some extended period of time.Any help & insight appreciated!

Hi - I have an existing system set up at home but am on a long term project overseas and am trying to add a new product using my existing account. The app is prompting me to update my existing products from the home network to the new overseas network. I don’t want to do this obviously as the family use the system at home. Does that mean I have to set up a new account entirely and cannot have 2 different systems in 2 countries on different networks controlled on the same account? Thanks in advance for any advice. 

I am trying to set up a new ASUS ZenWiFi AX6600 Tri-Band Mesh WiFi 6 System (XT8 2PK). However, Sonos devices will not appear on the network and do not show up on the Sonos App, even though they appear to be available.  I tried the 3 different ideas posted in the forum, but still no luck.  Wanted to see if anyone had new ideas on how to get this to work?

I have several Sonos componets: amps, variety of speakers, when I leave the house the system shuts down or stops playing music.  I prefer my music to be playing 24/7, I turn the system on using an iPad that stays at the house but for some reason it shuts down when I leave.  Could it be because I used my iPhone to setup the system?  Thanks!

Hello.  I asked this question in another section and tried to move it here.  Don't believe I could.  Posting here as it may be more relevant.   Hello.  thanks for reading.  Two topics that may be related. I’ve had my Sonos system set up for about 5 years with help from this community.  Pretty much no problems after the initial kinks were worked out.  I’m in a rural area and had been using Verizon wireless, a grandfathered plan for the house.  A few weeks back, we got Starlink and I have that installed with no obstructions. I have the Starlink installed with their router, turned off in bridge mode, with an ethernet adapter, going to a Unifi Router.  The router feeds a Unifi switch with various rooms connected by ethernet (even though it obviously goes back to Starlink).   Ever since the install, one room in particular (the kitchen) will have music drop out from playing but you can still hear audio from the paired sub.  Then the music will return for a while, then drop out again for abou

Sonos support has not been able to assist in over 2 hours and 3 calls… I have 2 houses and spend half the year in each. Obviously, 2 separate networks. In one (let’s call it ‘A house’), all the devices work on an S2 iphone app. In the other (‘B house’) I have a ‘Connect’ that I believe works only on the S1 app. But now I foolishly bought another Five speaker for my spouse in the B house and it turns out to only work on the S2 app - which is being used for the other house setup…. She is tweaking. Is there any way to make this work?  Do I have to get a new spouse? Do I have to delete the S2 app and set things up again each time I go to the other house? Will that even work? ANY IDEAS???

I have had a Sonos setup for many years now and have regularly had an issue with audio dropouts for my Play 5 (labelled ‘Downstairs’), which is the only speaker located on the lower floor - separated by a concrete slab from the upper floor. I have a boost in the ceiling space that is connected via ethernet cable to the modem. The upstairs speakers (three Play 1’s) all work without ever missing a beat! To try and resolve the dropouts with the Play 5 downstairs, I recently had an electrician run a cable down to the lower level and that connects to an old Bridge I had used previously (via a switch that is only used for Sonos devices). It then SHOULD be connecting wirelessly to the Play 5 over less than 10 metres distance and with line of sight. Despite this the Play 5 still is occasionally dropping out. Here is what the network matrix is showing:Any direction on what the issue might be and what to do would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi, I would like to know if the sonos app allows me to route the signal send in line in to the line out with the delay indeed by Sonos ? To use it on my analog system syncronised with my Sonos One SL.Signal delayed on the analog system and processed on the Sonos SL = Syncro.

I have a late model LG eco TV that supports Bluetooth audio streaming (A2DP) to external devices.  I also have a high-end audio setup with the SONOS Port attached to it.Can I stream audio from the TV to the Port using Bluetooth audio streaming (A2DP)?

I recently split my system after adding an arc sound bar.when I launch the s2 app I will intermittently receive an error that there are incompatible products and asks me to upgrade or setup a new system. If I close and reopen s2 app it will usually work normally. Sometimes I will have to close and reopen multiple times. S1 system works fine.

I just found out that Sony has a new receiver that works with Sonos. My question is how to wire the video and audio. I see there are 6 video inputs some 4k and some 8k. So if I plug 4k into 8k is the video going to work ok? Then we move to audio do you just plug the sonos hdmi into the reciver and get your audio. Some questions may be silly but I sure don’t want to spend a $1000 and the system not work.

I have a Beam and Amp (for rear surrounds) connected to the network via ethernet. I also have a Sub connected via Wi-Fi. Everything was showing connected and linked fine in the Sonos app, but there was no audio from the subwoofer. While trying to fix this, I disconnected the Beam from ethernet and switched it to connect via Wi-Fi (like the Sub). Now there is audio coming from the Sub, but no audio from the rear surrounds powered by the Amp anymore. Why does it seem like all devices linked in the same room need to all be on ethernet, or all be on Wi-Fi for things to work? There is also no indication that there is a problem in the app, just no audio coming from the speakers. The Amp is in an A/V rack on the other side of the house, so I can’t enable Wi-Fi on the Amp, it needs to stay on ethernet. I would also prefer to keep the Beam connected via ethernet as well. Just the Sub needs to be connected via Wi-Fi. How can I make this work?

I have a  Sonos system comprised of 4 listening areas. I recently added a turntable, and shortly will be connecting a hard drive or NAS with all of my digitized CD’s for ease of play and organization.  Here is my current home set-up.Area One area has a Sonos Port connected to a vintage Sansui AU-D9 integrated amplifier/TV/my own speakers. Area Two has a Sonos Port connected to a Pro-ject turntable-turntable preamp and a Marantz 7025 Power Amp or NAD C268 Power Amp. Area Three has a Sonos Amp connected to TV/my own 4 speakers, and,Area Four has 2 Sonos One speakers. I’ve been considering a Preamplifier to use with the Power Amps in Area two. Would I need a dedicated Preamplifier in this set-up, or would my Sonos Port App function as the Preamplifier? In what situations (if any) would a dedicated Preamplifier be a good choice to add to my system?

i have a room that is 30’ by 15’ with a TV at one end, playbar mounted directly under.I then have 4 Sonos 1’s  - Two at the far (opposite) end and two mid way on either wall. How do i setup the rooms, surrounds etc to get the best sound?Currently i get a lot of latency and echo.  

Recently purchased Amp to replace old stereo receiver and add floor speakers into the Sonos system. Used the ethernet hookup that had connected to receiver. No other Sonos products are connected via ethernet. Also have Home theatre with Arc, 2-Ones, 2-Sub gen3, a dining room with Ones in stereo connection, and Master bedroom with Fives in stereo connection, and Move in kitchen. In connecting the Amp to ethernet am I in effect removing entire Sonos system from wifi and creating a separate Sonos net network? We have excellent wifi coverage. Is it best to remove Amp from the ethernet connection. This statement in Sonos support seems to suggest I am bypassing my home wifi network:“Hardwiring any Sonos product with a built-in Ethernet port will switch the entire Sonos system into a wired setup, in which Sonos creates a dedicated wireless network separate from your home WiFi. In a wired setup, Sonos products without a built-in Ethernet port will continue using home WiFi.”

Hello All!I would like to connect the Victoria Stream  turntable to my very old Sonos Play 1 and Play 3 system (circa 2013). Can this be done without buying the sonos port or sonos amplifier?  Victra website says yea but they mention Sonos One, not Sonos Play 1 which is different. Thanks for your help!Michelle 

Just passing on a tip that will hopefully save someone a few frustrating hours.I moved a sub from one room to another with an Amp.  The iOSApp did the move perfectly.  Music worked initially but then dropped.  Performing a factory reset a couple of times would bring the sub back each time but would then drop minutes later.  Initially the eero 6 unit was next to the sub and another article said 1m separation was needed.  That was not the issue.The root cause was too much distance between the sub and the Amp that were paired/coupled.  I switched the sub to a wired port on the eero unit and also connected the Amp to a wired connection.  Works perfectly now.  Not sure what the maximum allowed distance is but the Amp is located in a metal rack in an attic closet on the second floor on different side of the house. 

Good day,We are trying to setup multiple Sonos Systems in a hotel complex. We have multiple speakers for every system.Hotel reception Restaurant 1 Restaurant 2 Conference center Gym Spa etc...What is the best most efficient way to set this up?Create a different wireless network/VLAN for every location? Can I have all speakers and locations on the same Wifi network?Do I need to create a different Sonos account for every location?Thank you for your help!!

Hello all! I have a new sonos amp and want to run 3 speakers. They are all on one wall, so I would like the left side to be left, the right side to be right, and the center to be both.  Can I do this, and if yes, how do I wire the third (center) speaker?

Hi. I have two five speakers connected in pair stereo. I have  connected a diferent source to every speaker, Tv and a turntable, but I would like to control wich source to listen if both of them are working.

I have a Kurzweil keyboard and would like to send its output into my existing Sonos system. I tried to plug it into the input jack of my Sonos 5, but get delay and poor sound. Any suggestions?

I understand the line-in feature (on some Sonos products) has latency and is not intended for live music or as a PA system. I further understand the latency is necessary for perfectly synchronized multi-room audio from a potential variety of sources (which Sonos does better than anyone else).With that understood, has anyone tried hosting a house party where there is a live band or DJ (e.g. playing holiday music) using an appropriate non-Sonos PA system, and in an area (for “enjoying the band/DJ”) that is separated from Sonos speakers (except one with line-in and zero output volume). Then the Sonos devices “throughout the house” are rebroadcasting the live audio (albeit delayed) as “background” music. … If you have tried a set-up like this, did it work well? How was the sound? What did you use to bridge the band/DJ’s output to the Sonos line-in?
