Using sonos on across networks

I have a firewall between my wifi network and my wired network. While they are two separate IP blocks, the firewall permits bidirectional traffic between them (I plan to lock things down once I have everything working).  I have an older Sonos V1 system on the wired network. When I try to locate it using the Sonos V1 app on my mobile device which is on the wifi network it does not discover it.

What do I need to do on my firewall to allow the controller app running on the wifi network to discover the Sonos system on the wired network?

Thanks

Sonos doesn’t support working across two different networks.

You might put up a network monitor and log all the various Sonos protocols being used and see if you can see some way to pass them all, transparently, to both networks.

  • Put your Sonos and a WiFi AP on the same network.
  • Connect your controller device to that AP.
  • Lock that AP down as much as you want to deal with.
