What to get

Currently we have a Playbar, Sub and two Play 3's for the surround in our main living area. It's a large space, the Playbar has always served us well but looking at upgrading. We have just moved and will not be mounting the TV at this new place. Wondering wether to purchase a Beam because it's newer and will be fine or the Playbase?

Hi, I really want to get a couple of sonos systems, but I can't seem to find anywhere to buy them in Hong Kong. Most of the audio & video dealers I have talked to claim there is no agent in Hong Kong. Is that true? Does that mean I cannot buy a Sonos system in Hong Kong? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi all, I'm currently orientating on purchasing a 5.1 system with the new Sonos Beam, two Sonos One's and a Sonos Sub. Now my guestion is, should I wait with the Sub? Out of these items the Sub will be the biggest investment, yet the one not supporting HDMI ARC and voice recognition. It would be a pity to have a '2018 system' running with an out of date Sub within the near future, limiting the possibilities of the overall system. Of course Sonos will not share their roadmap.... Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

Hi everyone, I am looking to delve into the world of sonos for home theater and music but am concerned about potentially using my existing system with a connect. I currently use an old analog rotel amp with mordaunt short ms10i bookshelf speakers. The speakers are a sweet sounding unit for their size and I would love to use them for the rears but from what I've read thus far I'm going to run into issues with lag if I try to use the sub/playbar when listening to music. My question then, is there anyway I could get this to work? Or am I better off ditching the old system and using sonos speakers exclusively? Cheers, Richard.

SONOS wireless headphones?

Hi guys. Could you please help me set up a solution for my bedroom audio? I am purchasing a tv projector and would like to find a sonos solution to listen to audio from the projector, and also audio streamed from spotify. I wanted to have two speakers working as stereo and have a subwoofer as well. Unfortunately, sonos soundbar or soundbase are not an option because there is no room to fit them. A regular receiver would be a solution, but I would rather go with some sonos solution. I though that maybe sonos connect:amp could work, linking the projector to two play1 speakers (maybe play 3 or 5), and then I could add a subwoofer grouped to the speakers. Do you think this solution seems reasonable? And possible? Thanks so much!

I'm the lucky owner of 2 x Play:5. I think the sound is perfect. I'm considering a sub to add to the 2 Play:5, but I'm not sure if there is any effect, since they play so good. Does anyone has this setup and what are your experiences?

By no means am i an audiophile, but I do notice a good home theater system. In between getting a beam + sub (already have two sonos ones) or a playbase with no sub. Generally speaking what would you guys imagine is the better set up sound quality wise? Initial reviews seems like Beam is going to be missing some bass, but sub in my mind would help make up for that?

Noob questions perhaps but will I get better 5.1 with the BEAM and HDMI than I would with the PLAYBASE/BAR and Optical?

Hi, I have a pair of Play 1's and an Echo Dot hooked up to a Connect in the kitchen. It was a rather expensive solution but ticked the boxes i) Children being able to ask Alexa for music ii) YouTube is a consistently good source for a type of music I like so I can bluetooth from any tablet or mobile device to the Dot I'm loving my kitchen setup and now I have the budget to look at my Cellar Lounger Room. The room is fairly small - 4.5m long by 3.5m wide I suspect I can tick all the boxes if I spend enough money and I see a couple of options Number #1 priority is good quality music system Number #2 priory is good quality sound from TV I looks clear that I get the PlayBar for my wall mounted TV which has optical audio out The decision I think is around the speakers I choose for listening to music / tv surround sound. I've had a single Play 1 for about 8 months now and despite it frustrating the hell out of me, I'm very eager to expand the system. I'm not an audiophile (in a sense that I have a terrible technical understanding of sound), but I'm a fanatic of awesome sound with perfect base and like it much louder than most. The Play 1 has been a tease! I also think the Echo is really cool but the sound quality does not make my ears happy. On a budget my first thought was a Play 5 and Echo Dot ($550). I want to see what that Play 5 feels like at all volumes...something tells me if I bought it I'd have a very hard time returning it. I also really like the Line-n feature because it would allow me to play my old school Ipod through it directly, bypassing that horrific app. Without question, my Ipod sounds way better than any of my iPhones ever have (both using auxiliary input in my car...no idea how it would sound with Play 5). The ability to have Alexa using a Dot really seemed to tip the sc

Hey folks, Just getting into Sonos. I'm not an audiophile...just like music. I have 2 sets of tower speakers (in different rooms): Boston Acoustics VR960 and Boston Acoustics VR30. I'm trying to decide if I should sell those and buy 2 Play 5's or instead buy 2 connect Amps for them. I'm leaning towards the Play 5's primarily because they are small compared to the monstrosity of the tower speakers. However, if there is a great difference in sound (with the towers being significantly better), you can probably convince me otherwise. If only slightly better or equal, it's Play 5's all the way. Note: I don't blast music at super high volumes often (i.e. rarely), so looking primarily for great sound at normal or the rare occasion party volumes. What's your thoughts? THANKS!

My system consists of the following components: A wired PC with lots of music files A wired Marantz SR6008 AVR connected to JBL studio speakers and an SVS subwoofer Multiple Sonos Play:1s and a One Spotify A wired Apple TV 4K Google Chromecast audio over wifi A Macbook Air on wifi What is the best way for me to just have music sent to the Marantz AVR to get the best quality and consistency (no hiccups, clicks, dropouts, etc.) to a. my main setup of the Marantz with JBL speakers and b. to the Marantz AND the Sonos speakers? Will a Sonos Connect into the Marantz, with the wired PC acting as a media server be the most logical setup? Can I play FLAC this way? What limitations will I face? I also use Spotify a lot - would a Connect benefit me at all for this, too? It would seem the Apple TV and Chromecast would be cut out of the audio equation if I went with the Sonos Connect, right (that probably doesn't matter much to me; the Chromecast was cheap, and the ATV is for 4K str

I recently purchased a house, and it has 3 zones prewired. I'm trying to understand if the new update to the Onkyo and Pioneer receivers will still require a Connect, or if it is independent. Any insight would be appreciated, as I've read several articles and feel like I'm seeing conflicting answers.

I have just seen the review for the Sonos Play 5 on what Hi-Fi, and their credibility is beginning to crumble. Firstly they tout high-res audio as a must have game changer, now they say that the audio quality of the Play 5 has been superseded by a £300 speaker called the Audio Pro C10. Looking at this objectively, there is more inputs on the C10 but c'mon What Hi-Fi... two tweeters and a woofer? How does that deliver the "impressive scale" of the sound... with two tweeters. Okay. And the design isn't close to what the Play 5 has. Now I haven't listened to this speaker, but if anyone has let me know what it sounds like. I just can't objectively see how it can deliver superior sound to a Play 5 with the drivers it has. Hi and hello, Was just about to pull the trigger on Sonos Playbar or base, sub and 2x Ones but then I see the June 6th announcement and am concerned that I should have held fire before spending not inconsiderable amount of cash (c.£2k). That being said though, I'd like everything place before the World Cup.....any thoughts suggestions? Part 2 - I'd rather the Playbar than base but my TV stand has legs running through it on either end that the bar would have too sit behind, will this affect the sound? Thanks A

Hi thanks in advance for any advice given here. Had a Play 5 for about a year and absolutely love the quality of sound it produces, hearing songs I've listened to all my life in a whole new dynamic. I love in a fairly small house, living room is about 30 feet by 25 feet. Do you think I would be able to appreciate the stereo effect of a pair of Play 5's or would it be overkill in such a small room? Thanks again for your opinions Regards Wayne

Hi there I know a 'bit' about our set up, but I want to buy husband Sonos so he can listen to his vinyl in at least one room more than the room it's set up in. I just want to be sure I'm buying the right thing and setting up properly. We have a project turntable, a preamp with one line in and one line out. This goes to our Marantz CD receiver to play through our speakers. So what is like to do is (I think), plug the connect to a line out of some sort on the cd receiver, so it can pick up the signal to transmit to the sonos when my husband wants to listen in another room Would that work? And if I buy an older connect from eBay - should that still do what current models do? Thanks!

I'm sure others have noticed that the Sonos website (US) has changed over the weekend. The CONNECT and the CONNECT:AMP are now absent from the product page. I can see a couple different possible reasons for this. 1 - It's a mistake. 2 - Sonos is still selling the two products, but for some strange reason, does not want to mention it on their website. 3 - The CONNECT and/or CONNECT:AMP are being replaced with updated products, likely announced on 6/6. This makes the most sense to me. Although I can understand how Sonos may prefer to be a speaker only family of product, and these two products may not sell as well, it seems like cutting these from the lineup would be a big mistake. The CONNECT:AMP is vital to customers who prefer in ceiling/wall speakers, replacing a centralized whole home system, or outdoor speakers. Hi! I would very much appreciate some advice from the community regarding choosing a Sonos unit for a very specific room layout ?. Please consider the enclosed floor plan, and bear in mind that no changes can be made to layout of the room or seating arrangement (so I will always be sititng ’off-axis’, and never usually in a sweet spot for stereo). * I will choose between a Play:5 or a Playbase only. No sub. * The unit will be used for music only. No TV. * The position marked on the floor plan is the only possible location for the unit. My question: Which choice is likely to give the best performance for music playback - a Play:5 or a Playbase? I understand that the Playbase for music-only might be an unorthodox choice, but aesthetically it would work great in my room. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on ceiling mount installations of Play:1 or Play:3 speakers that do not involve the Flexson products? The Flexson ceiling mount would be perfect but they are ludicrously expensive and I have not found many alternative products available. I have a screened in porch that I want to place a speaker on that is entirely sheltered for about 4 months of the year with a vaulted wood ceiling and available power supply but can't find many more cost effective options for ceiling mount.

In the midst of a major home renovation and trying to determine the best configuration for my needs. Currently (in my old house) I use a 7-channel receiver wired to 5 channel soundbar for TV audio. I also have a 5-channel receiver currently wires to 2 sets of speakers. NEW HOUSE WISH LIST: 1. Basement: in-ceiling vs sonos 1 for gym 2. Kitchen: in-ceiling 3. Dining/living: in-ceiling (location is between these 2 rooms) 4. Den (TV area): sound for TV. Would like ability to play sonos here as well 5. Back deck: exterior wired speakers 6. Master bedroom: in-ceiling I'm struggling with how to incorporate my existing receivers, sonos CONNECT:AMPs and/or CONNECT, and freestanding sonos speakers. Here is the situation: I have a fairly large space (including living room, kitchen, dining room, tv area) which is pretty much all open plus a deck. Currently renovating and planning for audio. Number of speakers: Living room 6 , kitchen 2, dining 2, TV area 2, deck 2. I'd like on/off/volume control for different areas. I can't see playing different sources but I suppose that would be a feature. Option 1) 1 Connect:amp per speaker pair. That's 7 x $500 = $3500 Option 2) 1 Connect for each area + multichannel amp. 3 Connects (living room, kitchen/dining/tv, and deck) plus something like the Russound D1650. That's 3 x $350 + $1000 = $2050 plus I get two extra channels or I could bridge to the outdoor speakers. The D1650 has screws for volume control on each speaker so I could fine tune before using Connect for volume control. I'd lose some of the savings in wiring and figuring out some 12V trigger workaround. Thoughts?

Just ordered a pair of Play:5's and am going to need a floor stand. Looks like the Flexon is the only one that fits the new Play:5? It will only allow landscape orientation though, which is kind of a bummer. Are there any other floor stand options available that will fit this speaker?

Isoacoustic stands often provide dramatic improvement for monitors and subs regardless whether they are mid-fi or hi-fi by tightening the bass and mids - increasing the fidelity. Question: 1. Anyone tried the smallest L8R130 for the Sonos 1/One? 2. Anyone tried the L8R155 for the Sonos 5? 3. For good measure, anyone tried those for the Sub? And did you hear improvements?
