hi I'm interested in buying amp but I would like to ask you 2 questions should i attach the projector to the hdmi (amp) port is it possible? I only have 2 passive speakers, can I create a 5.1 by adding the sub and play 5 sonos?

Hi! The Sonos replacement program tells me that my Sonos Play:5 gen 1 won't receive update from may 2020. Have any of you any experience with Play:5 gen1 vs Sonos Move? I love that's it portable but I don’t want to step down too much in sound quality. But since the gen1 is quite old it might not be any big difference?   Thanks

I have 2 Play-1s and would like to add a Sonos Beam Shadow for 3.1 setup. I have read that this setup would only allow the Play 1s as rear channel speakers Does the newer “Beam Shadow” allow the Play 1s to be used as front L&R speakers ? THX

Hello. Im thinking of getting the amp so I can connect my LP player. The idea is also that I want to connect a speaker for my terrace where I have no electric outlet, whereof I need an Sonos Move as I understand? There for my question is, can I connect the Sonos move to the amp? Or is there another, better solution for me? Thank you !

I'm dying to get a Sonos surround sound setup going, but my media room has a projector at the back of the room. From my understanding, I'll need to run an optical cable from the back of the room to the PlayBar up front which I'm really not thrilled about. I love the idea of going wireless, but having to run a 50 foot optical cable along my wall in order to go wireless seems a little like defeating the whole point, yea? Please tell me there's a better way to do this...wouldn't it make so much sense to have other devices capable of accepting the optical connection? It would be way easier in a projector setup to run an optical cable to either the sub or rear speakers which could be placed near the source. With a projector, the only speaker that kind of HAS to be wireless is the soundbar. Has Sonos given any thought to this?

I’m being offered a 30% discount for trading up my Legacy Connect: Amps and Play:5 but not my Bridge. Is there a reason for that?  

Hi, Thinking about installing a pair of Genelec 4020 in our restaurant. The rest of the hotel is pure Sonos and I really would like to continue using the Sonos app. How should I set it up and what kind of equipment is needed?

I discovered this section(Play Hours) recently and was quite surprised that my usage was very low. But after following this section during December and January, i am starting to doubt if this data is reliable. For ex, during whole of January, the section says i played Sonos for 7 hours. But in reality it should be much more than it. I know it because i had many holidays and my usage should have been more than 12 hours.  I use my Sonos One to listen to music via spotify. Does the feature not count the hours if i directly play Sonos from Spotify app rather than Sonos App?  Also, i listened to 1-2 hours of audible. Neither was this data captured at all.  

I am eligible to trade up my (2) Gen 1 Play 5’s. Would I be able to trade up both Play 5’s and get 30% off each of (2) Gen 2 Play 5’s or 30% off  only (1) Gen 2 Play 5?  I found the description of the program a little confusing. Thanks

I have a Connect:Amp that is a legacy product, so I am considering my options. I could do a one-for-one replacement with a Sonos Amp, or I could buy a Port and with the AU$280 difference in trade-up price find an old secondhand two channel amplifier or receiver on eBay. I’ve had a bit of a look, and there are some nice offerings from good name brands of yesteryear, and even today (NAD, Technics, Pioneer, Marantz, Denon, Onkyo, etc). What does the brains trust think?

Hello everyone, I'm new to the community, even though I've been using a Sonos Play 5 1st generation since 2014. I would love to consider upgrading the system, and of course, money is often one of the main factors involved in taking decisions. I've never listened to a pair of Sonos 5 (1st or 2nd generation), neither a pair of Sonos one, with or without a Sub, so I have no empiric experience on my side. My question would be, is it better to by another second-hand Play 5 1st gen to pair with mine, or to sell my own one and buy two Play One and may be one day add a Sub? I wasn't able to find a similar thread on the community, but I hope not to be redundant.

Hi everyone! I am just about to buy a sonos device for a 5.1. Main device will not be wall-mounted so I have decided going for the playbase. I am just little worried about an apparent sibilant, crispy annoying treble. It will be used mainly for Cinema and Videogames. Is there really an annoying issue with the treble in the playbase? Should I go for the Beam or the Playbar, knowing that I will not use it wall-mounted? Thanks a lot!

I’m curious to see if anyone has walled mounted their Move, and if so, what did you use.   I just noticed this available on Amazon.   https://www.amazon.com/Acrylic-Bracket-Compatible-Portable-Speaker/dp/B081SHJRGD/   It’s not the prettiest mount I’ve ever seen, but it utilizes the charging ring and can be quickly removed from the Mount.  The prices is also hard to beat.  I’ll probably be giving this a try, unless someone has found something better.

Anyone interested in providing some feedback?  Here’s the room: And here’s my thoughts:  wall speakers for built-in L/R channels, and ceiling mounted for side/surround channels. I’m trying to plan out a house install using a Sonos Amp with in ceiling speakers.   A couple of places I’d like to put speakers such as a bedroom only really make sense to have a single speaker.   Is it possible to have a single Amp appear as two separate zones? So one zone uses speaker channel 1 and speaker channel 2 shows up as an independent zone?   This would mean a single Amp could handle two smaller rooms quite efficiently, whilst still allowing independent audio control. I initially thought this is what Dual Mono mode meant but now I’m not so sure.   If this isn’t possible then it would mean I’d have to use a Sonos One wall mounted for these areas which simply won’t be anywhere near as clean.

I’m finally ready to start unplugging old amps and getting rid of all these cords everywhere.  I’m far from an audiophile but have been underwhelmed by my wife’s Bose Bluetooth “smart” speaker so I’m trying to calibrate expectations. I think I want to start with my office which is currently just a pair of B&W 600 S3s (no sub) run off of an old Harmon Kardon receiver.  How would a pair of Play 1s compare to this setup acoustically with the highest quality streams from Spotify? J   A pair of Play 5s would probably be overkill for this space but I certainly don’t want to downgrade an already modest setup.  I’m also worried about the living room which is next where my wife wants small speakers that are “modern” and I’m worried the play 5’s might be too large for her although I can probably hide a sub somewhere if needed if she’s ok with Play 1s in the visible area.   Thanks.

With the May end of life for my Bridge support, I'm not sure whether I should buy a new Boost or if I can go without one. I'd like to remain on a separate network. I'm hoping for some advice. Thanks! 

Hi, How does TradeUp work for a CR200 Controller - essentially a product for which there is no (hardware) replacement? The TradeUp page allows me to check the box next to it and then “Click to receive your credit” (which I haven’t done yet, because I’m unsure about what I let myself in for). This doesn’t indicate that the recycle mode will be initiated. Does this mean I can claim 30% per controller that I own, but it won’t stop working? Can I then use the discount on any Sonos product? If I understand it correctly, then as long as I leave a legacy product (e.g. a CR200 controller) in the setup, none of my components will receive software updates, right? I guess I can’t use more than one TradeUp discount (30%) on a single new product? I don’t really need new products, but if I start adding the discounts for my controllers for the purchase of one item, I may “need” a new product ;-) Thanks….

I have two older ZP80 components that are eligible for recycle to get the current “Trade Up” 30% off credit. My question is - if I trade both of them, can the two 30% off credits be applied to purchase one new component, or do I have to purchase two new ones to apply 30% off to each? I already traded in one and I see 30% off applied to the item in the cart, but I see a “+” sign next to it as well which I am assuming means that if I trade up second ZP80 I would be able to apply both to one new component purchase:  Is my assumption that two 30% off credits can be applied when buying one component correct or not? Since trade up is not reversible, I don’t want to trade another one if I have to purchase two different components since I only need one. Please let me know. Thanks. 

When I bought my Sonos, it was the first one the store had sold other than the store owner’s. It was so new that they didn’t even charge me the full installation fee because they were learning how to set it up as they did it.   I have a ZP 100,. The CR controller died years ago. My Zone player is connected to my stereo and its speakers. I control it from my desk top I mac and Alexa. We listen to playlists, our music library and TuneIn radio .  Having this system become obsolete is going to be a bit traumatic for my 73-year old husband, so I want to, as easily as possible, duplicate what I have now.  What component do I need to buy to trade up?   Will I simply be able to disconnect my Zone player and plug in a new component and connect it to my router, or will I need to hire a techie, to figure it out.  Having your technology become obsolete before you do is a hassle.

I’m wondering if there is a list of features that I’m missing out on for new products vs the ZP100. Does anyone have a summary?I don’t really stream or use voice activation. Just play my music from a NAS.I do have to say that I’ve been SUPER impressed with the ongoing updates to the ZP100 in all the years I’ve owned them. In fact, it is the biggest rave that I tell everyone why they should get Sonos over other systems. So super KUDOS to Sonos for that. So yeah, I’m fine with upgrading. I’d like to continue to support Sonos as a business.

Dear all,   I recently purchase a pair of Sonos, and it was my entrance to Sonos system. My question is, since I have a Zeppelin air, how can I connect it into the new system. I have a new Sonos Amp and am setting it up with 2 passive Bose 451 exterior speakers and want to install a subwoofer as well. Most exterior subwoofers are passive and not powered, is this compatible with the new Sonos Amp???
