Voice control and smart home

We have a small house so I was looking at one or two Sonos Ones to pair with my Beam for TV but then be able to separate them for general music listening in separate rooms or on the balcony  - is this easy to do and would you recommend with one or two One’s

It takes at least 7 seconds for Alexa to be ready for another command after one is processed on my Sonos One speaker.  Regular Alexa speakers have just 1 or 2 second lag times.  Why can’t Sonos have the same, lower, lag time between command execution and readiness for a new one?

Love the new sonos one i bought about a month ago except that it keeps disconnecting from alexa and requiring me to go into app and remove alexa and reinstall.  i have read this is a know bug and would like to know if anyone here has a fix.

Hello! I have several Echo Dots and several Sonos Ones throughout my home.  Recently (perhaps coinciding with my update to S2), when I say, “Alexa” in a room with an Echo Dot, a Sonos One in a different room responds, which of course I can barely hear.  Is there a way to choose a primary device for responding if multiple devices hear the wake word or to adjust the sensitivity of listening for the wake word per device? This used to work perfectly but now if I don't whisper to my Dots, the Ones always respond. Thanks!

Please be aware - Amazon have changed the Group settings and “Preferred Speakers” are no more.   Using an Alexa Device Group to get over the BBC dropping TuneIn problem can still work though. Create your Device Group and put your Sonos speaker(s) and the local Alexa device into it.  Ensure the Sonos speaker(s) are set as the “Speakers” for the group.BE SURE TO SCROLL RIGHT DOWN THE SPEAKER LIST to find the “Playback Options”.Chose “Change” and select “Always” Job Done. 

I have two homes.  Each home has a wifi network with the same SSID (we’ll call it Gandalf for simplicity).  The idea was that anyone who had access to the SSID in house A would also have access in house B. I have a reasonable sized Sonos system in house A (Play:Bar, sub, and about 8 Play:1 and Connect devices).  At house B, I have a Play and a Move. I’m running into a problem getting Google Assistant set up on the Move at House B.  When i go into the Google Assistant setup process, it can not find the Move when it looks for it.  I have already stripped down the network (killed off the 5GHz access, and disabled the additional Access Points).   Could the fact that I have two systems on the same SSID be posing a problem?  Is there something else that’s causing this issue? Worth noting that I did have this working for about 2 weeks.  Then I had to reset a bunch of stuff with my Google account, and we’re back to square 0… Thanks 

I have an Alexa routine that turns off all my lights, televisions, plugs etc.. on my way out the door with “Alexa, I’m leaving” voice command.   No other device has an issue but Sonos. I can’t seem to figure out how to simply add a stop music command in a routine. Yes there is a stop music command with my echo speakers but I only use Sonos speakers to play music so that’s useless.   If my music is playing via Sonos speakers I literally have to say “Alexa, stop my music” BEFORE OR AFTER the “Alexa, I’m leaving” voice command.    

Alexa controls one echo dot and Sonos one.  Different rooms.  No groups.  Every morning I will listen to BBC sounds on the Sonos, and then say ‘Alex off’, and usually the Sonos goes quiet.  About every 5 or 6 times I do this it listens (vol drops and light brightens), and then carries on playing regardless.  I have looked at Alex/settings/history, and it clearly hears ‘off’  but does not respond.  It usually responds to other obvious things like ‘music off’ or ‘turn off’, but when it fails to respond to ‘off’ it also fails to respond to any of these other commands as wellWhy is this - it is odd that it is intermittent and correctly ‘heard’ is it fixable?  I end up turning it off at the wall.

Has anyone in the group experienced Alexa losing its connection when it’s close (in proximity) to a sonos speaker?   I’m ticking off possible issues with our Alexa dropping (intermittent wifi) connection.   The rest of the house WIFI is ok (verified already and other iOS devices operate when Alexa is down).  I’m wondering if there is a channel interference issue being so close.   Thanks

If I try and play music or radio through my sonos beam using Google assistant,  it cuts out all the time. I have to turn on the tv and link to the sonos as the source to allow it to work. Eh? Seemed to have happened all of a sudden.  Used to be able to play music through the beam without the tv needing to be on.

We are fairly new to Sonos, at present we only have one Sonos speakers, it’s a Sonos One. We have a couple of new Amazon Echo Dots. While we both love the actual sound from the Sonos, the Alexa side of it is a bit of a disappointment, we find we have to shout loud to get it to use commands, we are going to buy a couple more Sonos SL speakers to use in another room to use in stereo via an Echo Dot, have no problems with echo dot and commands. The Sonos One is approx 3.5 meters away from were we sit, and having to shout loud command is a pain, especially is the lady in the house has to shout them..lol. Can I switch the mic off on the Sonos One and control it by an Amazon Echo Dot which will be right next to we’re we sit, we never have to raise our voices with any of the Echo Dots.

I have a "good morning" homekit scene that comes on when I say “Hey, Siri, morning”. It also activates audio playback on my Sonos speaker in the garage via AirPlay. I have three (3) Apple TVs. Since TvOS 14 the AppleTv turns on the Basement Apple TV. If I switch the TV off again, which puts the AppleTv into stand-by mode, the audio playback is also stopped.Before TvOS 14 the TV didn't turn on when I controlled my Sonos speaker via HomeKit.Does anyone else have the problem and know how to solve it?

I’m new to Sonos and I installed my first device, a Sonos Move, about 10 days ago.Everything was working fine until this morning when Alexa wouldn’t respond while I was playing an m3u playlist from my Music Library. Through trial and error I determined that she does respond if I pause playback but not while the playlist is playing. I also verified that Alexa responds normally when I’m playing a playlist from Amazon Music.I tried powering it off and on to no avail.Anyone have any ideas?I[I posted this in the Amazon Alexa  and Sonos section but now see that I should have put it here...] 

Hello all,I have a problem with my setup.I can’t say : “hey google, switch the music on the sonos FIVE in the room XXX”Google says : “it’s not possible, I don”t understand”If I say “hey google, say to everyone the dinner is ready”google answer : “there is no other speaker configure”But in the same time I can say : “hey google, play music in the room XXX” -→ it worksOther example, I say “hey google lunch music on deezer” → OKbut i cannot say : “hey google stop the music in 5min”, google answer “I can not do that because there is no media currently playing !” :oI really don’t understand what is wrong…Thanks by advanced for your help.PS : sorry for my poor english

I have an Echo Show and newly purchased Move device within the same room. When I ask ‘Alexa, xyz’, both respond and milliseconds off. I have reviewed all the configs, and while I can config the echo device, there is nothing to adjust in the ALexa app for the Move. Any suggestions on having only one device respond? Music is playing fine. I could disable alexa on the Move, or shut off the Move mic, but that is not ideal as I take the Move to another room.

I moved into a house with Sonos speakers in each room. But have no instructions. I have a small tablet fixed to the wall where I should be able to control it. But after downloading the app on my phone and trying all I know and understand I can’t get connected. can any one help? thanks mezzabeth

I have searched but “wireless” just gives hits on wifi issues.  My question relates to searching for radio stations.  In particular Virgin Radio UK.I have enabled Virgin Radio UK and using Alexa on my Sonos One it can find it.  However, the default search via TuneIn does not find it, instead it tells me that it has found it on “wireless” (which I assumed would be a service or app).However, I cannot seem to find either a service or an App that is called “wireless” to install to my Sonos system.  Does one exist?  What is Alexa referring to when it says it has found my station on “wireless”?I am a bit baffled. Geoff

New Sonos One, most up to date Sonos and Google Assistant app. Have tried repeated deleting/downloading of apps, linking/unlinking Sonos from the google assistant app.  I am unable to connect Google Assistant through the spotify app, it just gets stuck on the “Linking Google Account...” page and then I get an error. On the Google Assistant app, it shows the Sonos One has paired successfully.

When is this issue going to be addressed? There are topics about the same issue going back over 2 years and nothing has been done to remedy the issue on Sonos’s part. Enough of the same ole response of “we are hoping that when the next update comes out that it will help remedy these issues”, yet nothing ever happens! We are tired of the same old same old. Customers have paid you good money for your equipment now step up and do the right thing in return! “FIX YOUR ISSUES NOW!” “IT IS REDICULOUS THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ALLOW TO CONTINUE FOR THIS LONG!”

Hi, Just got the Sonos move and was pretty impressed with it but now it seems that when music is playing, the google assistant doesn’t work. I have to pause the music on the top of the speaker and then say the command. I have deleted the assistant and then reinstalled but the same problem persists. Has anyone else had this issue and knows of a fix?

Just checking if the is my Roku TV or there is a fix? #1 Google Voice through Beam turns off and controls volume up/down but will not turn TV ON? #2 - Also: When I play music on through the Beam, what command do I say to get it back to TV without using the Sonos App? I tried variations of“Hey Google switch bedroom to TV”  “Hey Google switch bedroom back to TV“Hey Google turn on bedroom to TVNone of these work? 

Hello, I’m sure this has been around for a while but I can’t find an uptodate answer….If I use the Sonos app I can play 3 different Amazon music streams in 3 sonos zones. But if I use voice command to ask the Sonos ONE with Alexa to play some music then try to play Amazon music in another Sonos zone (Using the app) I get a message saying that Amazon Music is being used by another device. I’m pretty sure the Amazon accounts dealing with Alexa and Amazon Music on Sonos are the same.Why does the voice command limit the stream? Is it because you can’t use the same amazon music account on Alexa and Sonos at the same time?Maybe it needs to be a family account?Maybe I need 2 Amazon music accounts?Apparently there is a work around but I haven’t found it yet.  Many thanks 

In the new Sonos App where can i find what quality of stream is playing. I have seen online how to find it in the Sonos App1 but not in the 2nd version. 

I have a bunch of Echos AND a Sonos Beam.  When I am playing music and say something like “Alexa, louder” or “Alexa, next song” then the command is executed as long as I am loud enough for the mic to pick up my voice.  The Move I just bought doesn’t seem to behave that way.  Even if the volume is low and I basically yell into the mic, it doesn’t have an effect.I note that when the sound is off and I use one of the standard voice commands (e.g. “Alexa, play my playlist”) it starts up just fine.Does the Move work differently than the Beam and the other Alexa devices, or is there something wrong with my Move?

I love my three brand new Sonoses, but I’ve just disabled the Google assistant on all three because it’s too inconsistent.  The assistant volume is tied to the Sonos volume, so when I listen to my music loud in the kitchen then “ hey Google” it’s incredibly jarring and loud. Especially for podcasts or for TV on the Beam, both of which are relatively quiet so the assistant becomes tremendously loud. Likewise when the music is quiet, if I then trigger the assistant from another room it’s far too quiet.  I’ve switched back to a Google home mini for now but it would be great if Sonos allowed you to separately control the assistant volume.
