Voice control and smart home

We all know how all encompassing big tech can be. I was one of the few people that invested in a Nest camera before Nest was acquired by Google. Once Google acquired the company, Nest became a little compromised in terms of what they offer. If Sonos bailed out because of the big tech squeeze, Sonos will never be the same under Google. Whilst the Google Home Hub sells well, it’s nowhere near as quality a product as Sonos products. Any Sonos legacy products are easily superior that any of Google’s newer products (Google does not really have special interest in speakers, they have special interest in a bigger slice of the market -whatever it takes. I recently switched to the Ring Doorbell because they are genuinely about home security rather than also trying to harvest users’ personal info in effort to sell you more products (soon there’ll be a Google refrigerator, Google car, shaver, etcetera, it’s mind numbing). Sonos has a moral duty to not cede their innovation spot to the G. What say

Starting roughly Dec '18, Alexa stopped playing music on my Sonos One. It acknowledges that it's going to play music, but then nothing; silence. I've logged out of Amazon on all account and on the web, and I've removed Alexa from the Sonos app, then reinstalled and logged in, but that didn't work. Today, I logged out of Amazon on all devices and the web, uninstalled both the Sonos and Alexa apps on both of my devices, and factory reset my Sonos One; still the same issue exists. I used to play Amazon music, but I also tried adding iHeartRadio, but Alexa still acknowledges the request but doesn't play music. I'm getting so frustrated that this is an issue in the first place, and that it's so difficult to come up with a solution. I'd greatly appreciate any advice I can get to get Alexa playing music again.

I purchased the Move about a month ago. Have it linked to Alexa and use it mainly to play on Spotify. Voice commands will work for a period of time then will stop responding to Alexa. Only thing that works is removing Alexa via the Sonos app then re-adding. That will work for a period of time then it will stop working again. I’ve tried resetting the Move, enabling/disabling the skill in Alexa, logging out of Alexa and logging back and nothing works. The only thing that gets the voice commands working again is deleting & adding the voice assistant in the Sonos app, which again only works for a period of time before it stops responding to the Alexa voice command.  Any thoughts?Thanks a lotSonos diagnostic code: 169626  

Hi!I am trying to link my Sonos system to my google home. But every time when I am using the google home app, push configure a new unit search for sonos and then link the app just say that the account is link and I am back to the beginning with no speakers.Can somebody help me?

I have an echo dot and when I say “Alexa play “song name” it plays the song. When I do the same thing with my Sonos move it says it will only play the song with Amazon music unlimited. Are my accounts just not linked correctly or will the echo dot do it free since it is an Amazon product?

I have an Arc, Sub and two OneSLs connected to a Samsung The Frame (2019) and with the TV off, when I ask Alexa “play BBC Radio2” she responds “here’s BBC sounds, here’s Radio2” but then nothing comes out of the Sonos system.I can connect to the BBC Sounds app through the TV, but then the screen has to be on - which I was trying to avoid.Any advice welcomed, thank you

Can other people come into my home and use their music app on their smartphone and connect to my sonos speakers?

I just triggered an Alexa routine on my Move that ends in an audio response. Up until now I always got the “audio actions and routines are currently not supported on this device” message, whether Alexa decided to respond as programmed or not. But today, she didn’t argue with me at all. She just very pleasantly responded like she was speaking through an Amazon Echo device. I tried it on my Beam. Same thing. And on my Sonos Ones as well.Am I losing my mind or has the Alexa integration on Sonos devices gotten a big improvement or something? Does anyone know if there are other things she’ll do on my speakers that she wouldn’t before? 

I just put a Sonos Beam in our living room. We currently have an Echo in the kitchen. Problem is, we sometimes get a response from the wrong Amazon device… i.e. Echo responds to command for the Beam and vice versa. Suggested workarounds for this?

Hi, I have set up Google Assistant on my new Sonos Beam, which works OK. However GA will not play Spotify on Sonos. I have set up Google Assistant in the Sonos app, and logged in with the same Spotify premium account on both the Sonos app and the Google Home app. I’ve even signed out and in again on both apps to be absolutely sure. But when I ask Google assistant to play Spotify on Beam, it claims that I have not signed in with the same premium account on both apps. I use an Galaxy S10+ for setup. Any ideas?

Hello All,I am trying to play white noise on my Google assistant through Sonos continuously throughout the night.  No matter what I do, it only plays for one hour and stops, waking us up.  On Google Home, you can say “Ok Google, Play White music for 10 hours” and it will do so.  On Sonos, you can say the same thing, but it will stop after one hour.  Makes no sense?  I have Sonos in every room and gave up my Google Home so hoping I don’t need to bring it back!Thanks

I estimate my Sonos One forgets Alexa every other day. De-registering everything and having to set up Amazon etc all over again every time is driving me mad, especially in lockdown when I am at home all day and my Sonos One is in the room where I work and I rely it for all sorts of things. Surely this is not normal? Anyone else experienced anything as frustrating?

After 5 minutes with Google Assistant controlling my devices in the house it’s already a mile ahead of Alexa who was always rather clunky. And the app was terrible. However one of my favorite things to use my bedroom Sonos One for was to ask Alexa to play Thunderstorm sounds while falling asleep. When I ask Google assistant the same thing all I get is “Alright, Playing lighting and thunderstorm sounds on Google Play Music...Sorry it looks like the subscription to your for* Google Play Music is not supported.” A standard google home device plays ambient sleep sounds without a Google Play subscription. Alexa was kind enough to do the same. But does this mean I’d have to pay for a Google Play Music subscription in order to simply have ambient sounds? I don’t think it’s too early to start having basic expectations of our smart home devices. Turn on lights, tell me the weather, play white noise seem like they should be basic freebies to me. Hi,I have had the Arq for one month and the experience with Google assistant is really poor.My first comment is it only seems to work when I shout or get really close to the microphone.  What i’d consider a ‘normal’ user experience (reasonably loud) command often doesn’t get results. My second comment is that there is a vast difference between the accuracy of Sonos Arc vs iPhone Google Assistant.    I use Arq with commands and i get ‘sorry, something went wrong’, or some garbage response, or just flashing LEDS and back to music.  I say the same thing on my iphone/Google Home and it’s works perfectly.

How do I enable continued conversation on my sonos one with Google assistant ? I've tried looking through the settings and end up going round in circles. Thanks for your help in advance. 

Has anyone worked out how to group Sonos One and Amazon Alexa together in the same speaker group ?So that they all play the same music perfectly synced together. When i have tried it’s either the sonos or the alexa that can be selected , never both.Many Thanks

I’ve seen many questions to the below but not found an answer so I will add my penny worthI have new sonos beam and all integration with sonos app and youtube music is fine apart from the truncation list issue. ie I can play youtube music from the sonos app OK Google questions like weather and what is my diary work fineBut when i ask google to play a track eg ok google play artist trackname  i get the following reply “Ok playing trackname on YouTube music. Sorry I can't find what you're asked for”I have the basic youtube music. All the various combinations of asking to play a track/artist fail with the message above. I have a  google home speaker and all the commands for youtube music WORK on this.Any ideas please

2 weeks ago I set up our new family Sonos speaker on our home WiFi. I think we’ve spent £160 on what is essentially a high-end doorstop. I and both my parents downloaded the new app, connected to Spotify, connected Google Assistant, set up voice recognition for me and my mum. The lot. Up until now it had been working fine, e.g. Me or my mum could ask Google Assistant to play music on Spotify and it would, or, we could play music through the Spotify app. This morning I did just that and played music on the speaker, no problem, but a few hours later my mum, and then I, ask Google to play some music on Spotify. She says “I can’t do that here, but you can ask me to play on one of your other devices” (we don’t have any) - or something to that effect.  So I go to my mum’s Spotify- can’t connect to the speaker, odd, because when I go to my own Spotify, it connects and plays just fine. Google Assistant is still having none of it. So I open the Sonos app on my device, and then my mum’s, and the

Beam was working fine with Alexa. About a couple of months ago Alexa volume decreased to 25% of the regular TV volume. The only way to hear Alexa’s replies is to manually increase the TV volume. This seems to be a ongoing issue. Is there a solution to this problem on the horizon?

Hi, I have recently brought a new Samsung Q70 series TV and a Sonos beam.I have been though all of the setup and got it working so I can play the tv sound through the beam. My question is how do I disable the beam when I am just watching tv and don’t want the sound coming through the beam.  I only really wanted the beam to use while watching movies and Netflix style shows.  every time I switch the audio Settings back on the tv it diverts straight back to the beam.  any ideas ?

I have a Sonos Beam setup in surround sound with a Sonos One and a Sonos SL. Right now, when communicating with Alexa, everything is coming out of the Beam.  Is it possible to set Alexa to come from the Sonos One instead? It’s more central in the room and would be a much better experience.  The other issue is that the Alexa coming out of the beam is SO QUITE. Regardless of the volume of the music coming out of the Beam.  Any ideas?
