Voice control and smart home

Is it possible to use both Google Assistant and Alexa with the following setup:- Sonos Arc (Alexa) + Sonos Sub + Sonos One (Google) + Sonos One SL (all paired) 

Hi. Have Amazon music connected to my Sonos. When I ask Sonos to play something the Sonos speaker confirms this “playing your play list” for instance but nothing happens and no music is played !! I switched over to my Spotify account and exactly the same thing happens (playing music from Spotify) but again I get no music. I can select music from my phone app and play it through all the speakers via Amazon music or Spotify I just can’t get it to play music via voice commands. Any ideas as it is driving me crazy !!! 

Hello, I have a few questions regarding S2 and the two ways of connecting to Sonos speakers locally: UPNP This API is “undocumented” and not officially supported, but it works.   Sonos Control API on the LAN This API is not yet available, and its release date is unknown. My question is whether the S2 update will remove the UPNP functionality from upgraded speakers? If so, will the Sonos Control API on the LAN be available when S2 is released? If the answer to the first question is yes, and the answer to the second question is no, it would mean that upgraded S2 products cannot be controlled locally. This would mean that new products (such as the Arc) cannot be controlled locally at all, at least for the time being. I have tried searching for an answer to these questions, but I could not find them, so I decided to ask here. Hello all, as you all may already know Alexa cant speak out voice notifications like it can with any Amazon Alexa device. I have seen a lot forum posts asking why they cant hear their Ring motion and doorbell notifications and for the longest time ever those notifications never worked with Sonos. Well as of last night my Sonos One speakers started blurting out motion detections and doorbell presses. I cant find any release notes about this anywhere, has anyone noticed this too? I also noticed with Alexa routines if you had an Alexa response she would say “Alexa voice responses are not compatible with this device” now she doesn’t and voice responses work just fine with routines. Hopefully this isn't a fluke bug.

Hello to Everyone!I have recently bought a Beam, wich works properly with Sonos S2 app, it is ARC connected to a Sony TV, but I just can’t integrate Alexa in the Sonos S2 app, which - when I try to add Alexa - always returns, that this service is not available in my country (Hungary). Although, I have set up the ios Alexa app on my iPhone, with a Hungarian address, and Alexa seamlessly discovered the Beam. I can also give voice commands within the Alexa app (just as if I would talk to Siri on my iPhone, of course, in English) - and Alexa executes them properly, but the Sonos S2 app doesn’t allow me to add Alexa. I have linked my Sonos profile to Alexa, within the Alexa app, also. This means, everything works from the Amazon side, but the Sonos app doesn’t allow me to add Alexa, because of territory restrictions. Certainly, I would not like to create a new Apple ID with a fake US or UK address, just to be able to add Alexa to the Sonos app, because I’ve read, that is possible.Could you

I use my Sonos One speakers to listen to radio on TuneIn quite a bit.  Around the beginning of this year (2021), a bunch of stations disappeared -- if I ask the Google Assistant to play them it says, sure, then says it can’t find what it’s looking for.  The same stations still come up if I ask for them on other Google devices or my Cortana speaker, and certain stations still come up on the Sonos speakers.Is there some reason certain TuneIn stations disappeared from the Sonos -- and only the Sonos -- system?

Alexa routines work fine to play music from one Sonos speaker or let Alexa say things like the time on a given speaker. But I cannot get this to work multi-room. The Alexa announcement feature is meant to let Alexa say something on all speakers, and it indeed works across Sonos and Echo Dot when activated by voice command – but not if I activate an announcement through an Alexa routine (although I can select Sonos and Amazon devices here).Has anyone been able to make this work?Thanks!

Hi All Recently I enable google assistant continued conversation on all my SONOS devices. The Sonos ONE is working as expected with continued conversation however I noticed that the ARC does not work for this.  Is this feature currently supported on the SONOS ARC? 

When are you going to support apple music on Sonos one via google assistant?how hard can it be?I have a google home speaker that now supports Apple,  google assistant app supports Apple.  I use Apple Music on all my Sonos speakers via the Sonos app.what is the timeline for rectifying this?

Hi Everyone, Just brought a Sonos Arc and pretty disappointed that I cant get it to play a doorbell alert from my Ring Door View Cam like all of the other Echos / Shows I have in the house as it doesn't appear in the list of announcement devices. I’ve had a look through the forums but can’t find any news on whether this is being implemented at any point. It seems strange that I now have to keep an Echo in my living room to get the doorbell alerts there.  I have noticed that the arc can be enabled in the Alexa app for announcements and calling / messaging which seems to be working fine in my testing so seems like its just 3rd party devices that can’t announce? Has anyone had any luck getting this working or can point me in the right direction to put in a feature request for this? Thanks in advanceJoe

At this price range it was suprising to see no Chromecast support. As an Android user who purchased both the SONO Move and Bose Portable Home Speaker and compared them to decide which one I liked the most. Seeing Chromecast support not the move would have made my choice a no brainer. 

I feel that the volume of Alexa’s voice should be able to be set independently from the Sonos volume. For me, it is too hard to here her voice over the sound coming out of the Sonos speakers. Thoughts?

I am very dissapointed to see that the New Sonos 5 does NOT have voice recognition built in. As a family of 5 people who all use my current Sonos Play 5 Gen 1 using an Amazon Echo Input which is plugged into the Play 5 via the 3.5mm Jack lead to talk to the speaker. I currently am subscribed to Amazon Music HD family plan. I would like to upgrade my Sonos Play 5 for the New Sonos 5 but I am struggling to justify the price for an upgrade which would simply enable me to use the new S2 app on my smartphone. I feel that the rough cost to upgrade (£400+) for this speaker is a lot of money for not much gain. This is why I was so disappointed that the Sonos 5 doesn’t even have voice recognition built in! 😳 I don’t buy the argument that music boffs prefer the item without this option as surely if the product is simply made with voice recognition built in, the customer using the product simply has the option to either turn this facility On Or Off. Quite a simple solution! I’m sure other people

I got Deezer and Spotify working with the sonos and google assistant. But when I try to have my sonos play apple music. It said playing apple music then a few second later it saids apple music is not supported by sonos. Only way to play apple music right now is still with the app. Is this normal?

Hi,For several days now that the sonos move speaker does not playing music when I request through Google Assistant and it's only saying "sorry, I can't to that on this device" how can I fix this issue?Thanks. 

TLDR - cant use google assistant as my integrated voice control on a sonos Beam as the assistant app fails to find them as devices - but they do show up in the google home app.---------------So, just purchased a Beam. The set up process did not go as smoothly as I had hoped and it took many attempts to get it connected to my WiFi network but eventually it all seemed to be working. I then initially connected it to my Alexa service and that worked fine. However, I decided to switch to google assistant (to avoid command conflicts with an echo that’s in the same room) and it fails to find the device in the assistant app. After many attempts i looked into the devices in the separate google Home app and 2 sonos devices were present (the speaker itself and once called TV control) and my account was linked. Indeed I was able to command  the beam from a google hub in a separate room, but the beam itself refused to accept google assistant commands and the sonos S2 app said it wasn't a linked ser

I have Alexa working on my Sonos System (Arc, Sub Gen 3, 2x Sonos One).  But there is an issue.  Alexa can’t hear you unless you shout at it or are inches away from the Arc if music is playing or if there is any background noise.  Literally you need to say Alexa five times, eventually shouting it to get it to listen.  It’s driving my family crazy, as our old system with an Echo Dot worked great. Is there a fix for this, or can I move the default Alexa from the Arc to a Sonos One?  The Sonos One is more in the center of the room, and may hear better.

Hello everyone, i have two Sonos One SL in different rooms. They work fine. The problem is that i cannot control them with Siri nor with the Home app. It shows the following message „Controls unavailable for this device.”    Now, i have done a reset to all devices including the router and reconnected everything again. Still the same error. All devices have the latest updates. Does anybody know some secret settings i‘m missing somewhere?    Best regards, Irfan.

Hi, I've got a system both s1 and s2 compatible. I'm wondering whether I should upgrade? My system is as follows: Bedroom: Play5 (1st gen) (not S2 compatible) Living room: playbar + 2x sonos one (2nd gen) - this is set up as surround 5.0 for my TVSonos boost - to create separate network for all sonos products   Now my question is:1) what are my benefits to upgrade to S2 for living room which is S2 applicable and keeping bedroom as S1. 2)Also is it possible to setup Alexa in living room on sonos one, when the system is set up as surround. This is not possible for S1 and I wasn't able to find an answer if that's possible for S2  Thank you in advance for your help 

I recently installed a Sonos 1 in my office, I have 6 speakers in my home. I enabled the alexa feature and asked her to play a song ( I have amazon music), the respone I continue to get is “hmm...to do this you must enable the skill in the alexa app and then ask me to discover devices”. The speaker is set-up in the alexa app and the songs skill is enabled. The speakers I have at home still work as they should, any idea what would remedy this?

Hello,My Sonos One suddenly stopped responding to voice commands out of nowhere today. The microphone light on top won’t turn on. I did a factory reset and when I try adding a voice assistant through the Sonos app on Android, I immediately get a “Connection problem” error when I tap either Google Assistant or Alexa. It doesn’t even try to connect or search for anything, it just instantly throws this error. What’s the deal? It happens from my wife’s iPhone as well. I’ve unlinked Sonos from my Google Home app and still nothing.I submitted a diagnostic report, 620881377

Imagine Saving up all your money to buy a Sonos Move only to find out that the Google Assistant is nonfunctional of the device? I spent roughly $500 on a  SONOS FIX THIS ASAP, theres no excuse for this. Moderator Edit: Offensive language removed

The sonos app says that Alexa or the google voice assistant are not available in my region. I’m in the Cayman Islands.  Is there another option or have I just bought the wrong product?
