Voice control and smart home

Hi there, I have a Sonos Arc connected to my TV using the hdmi cable into the ARC port. I added Google Assistant during the setup process and in the Google Home app, I see "Sonos TV Control" correctly located on my living room, but when I say "Hey Google, turn on the TV" I get a response from the TV too confirm it will turn it on but it never does. When I open the "Sonos TV Control" device in the Home app, it shows as "not responding". I have deleted and reinstalled a few times but it's still not consistently responding. Can you help?              

(Several years ago I know this was not possible, but it seems like some people have successfully done this, so I’m hoping there’s a solution!)I have a Sonos One and a Beam, plus an Alexa Echo Show 8. I’ve installed the Sonos skill to my Alexa account so now I can say, “Alexa, play the Beatles in kitchen”, or whatever and that works. However, it only works for streaming services, not my local iTunes library.Next, I installed the My Media for Alexa server on my Mac and installed that skill in the Echo. I can now say, “Alexa, ask My Media to play [song from local library]” and that will work. However it will only play it on the Echo. (Saying, “Alexa, ask My Media to play [song from local library] in kitchen” doesn’t work - it just ignores the “in kitchen” part.)So, is there a solution to get me to the finish line where I can tell Alexa to play [artist/title/whatever] from my local library on my Sonos devices?

Is it better to control all, accessing Fire TV and Prime Music through ARC or through Cube - along with Lutron lights?  My preference, I think, is run all through Sonos ARC so I can store away Cube in cabinet.Thoughts?

I recently discovered this new iOS app called Soro. https://apps.apple.com/np/app/soro-for-sonos/id1550457805Soro allows you to easily control Sonos speakers with the iOS Shortcuts app. I have been able to create shortcuts/widgets for different EQ presets for Movie, Music, TV, and create a widget for playing a specific playlist on a specific Sonos speaker in my house. So far, it works great! Rather than manually changing the EQ in the Sonos app every time I switch from music to TV to movies, I just swipe right and tap once on my iPhone and it changes the settings within seconds.  

I have a Sonos Port that I’m trying to control all of my speakers downstairs. I created a group called downstairs in the Alexa app and my Sonos Port shows up. However when I go to the Sonos App it doesn’t show up. When I tell Alexa to play music down stairs it says “Playing music on downstairs. Sorry I cannot play music on downstairs. Sorry something went wrong” and that’s it. I have already removed all products from Sonos and Alexa apps and also removed the Sonos skill from the Alexa app and then reconnected all of my devices and still nothing. In different rooms upstairs I have a few Sonos ones and they all work with the Alexa and show up in my Sonos App. Any thoughts on how I can get Alexa to control my port? Or could it be an issue with the port itself?

Hello all! Has anyone experience alexa wouldn’t change the volume on the Beam  regardless of what volume commands you give it and its always “device is at volume 6” manually changing the volume by tv remote and the touch control it still works as normal. For example if i decrease the volume on the touch controls , the volume does decrease and when asking alexa what the volume is, it would be still at 6.   

Hi,after upgrading my 5.1 sonos system from the playbar to the arc, Google Assistant is not functioning as it used to. Most command simply do not work at all, it does not recognize any input and just sits there staring at me.Is there a way to select the sonos one as the speaker with assistant functionality? Since it does work with the sonos one, but not with the arc.all in all im very disappointed with the lackluster google intergration on the arc.diagnostics report:  796466105kind regardsT

For at least a month now, when I set an alarm on my Sonos One using Google Assistant, Google says the alarm is set, the alarm goes off the following morning, I ask Google to turn it off, and as soon as it turns off, the chime for the timer starts and then I have to ask several times for Google to stop the timer. Software is up to date on the speaker. No updates available. Help?  I just want the alarm chime when I set an alarm. 

Hello, just installed 2 Sonos Arc, 1 Beam and 3 Sonos One. I have 2 Amazon Echo’s.  Can these play teh same music or extend the TV from the sound bars?TIAI am brand new and sorry if this is to simple.

Hi,So I’ve just set up my Sonos system in my new apartment. It’s a Sonos Bram and Sonos One (Gen2). All is working smoothly. Have added music services and all that without any issues.Then I’m trying to add Google Assistant to my speakers. But once it just jumps over to the Google Assistant app and after I’ve successfully login, the Sonos page (inside the Google Assistant app) tells me to register my speakers to the account I just signed into, and until then Google Assistant can’t be added to my system.Here’s the thing. It’s the correct account and when I log into the same account here on Sonos.com and view my “System” both the speakers are correctly registered.What the hell should or can I do to get around this? The curious thing is, that the text where it says I need to register my speakers talks about Alexa. Could there maybe be an incredible annoying bug in Sonos system?

Hi, Has anyone else noticed the performance of Alexa on Sonos products has been deteriorating in recent months? It now seems to have got to the point where the smart assistant is almost more trouble than it is worth on the platform. I’m not sure how these things break down and who maintains the Sonos / Alexa relationship (Sonos or Amazon), but it would be handy to know so I can feed back in to the right place. We are finding that she responds to her initial wake word, but more and more is then simply going quiet and not responding to the request or specific query you have voiced, so you have to wake her again and ask the question for a second or third time, which gets frustrating. There are also some skills that are not working particularly well, specifically Amazon’s own Audible skills via Alexa on Sonos. The Audible app appears to work fine on my son’s Echo speaker, so it seems to be an issue with the Sonos branch of the skills specifically. Alexa on Sonos doesn’t seem to recognise t

I have 2 rooms with Sonos equipment in.  Let’s say I had to upgrade to the S2 app in this room to get everything working (which I did).If we now turn to another room, in this room I have only one Play:1.  I’m putting this speaker on eBay.  I have 2, new speakers, a Sonos One and a Sonos One SL.  I’m assuming that I will obviously need the S2 app for these 2 speakers in another room?How do I connect these 2 speakers together and add Alexa in this room?ThanksHB

I just setup my Port to my AV receiver.  Through the app, I named it TV Room.  I added the Google Assistant and now I see “TV Room” (my Port) listed in Google Home.  In Google Home, it is listed as a Speaker, but I am unable to add it to any of my existing speaker groups.  I can have Google play music from Spotify thru the Port on my receiver but I don’t know how to have it play music from the port to my speaker groups.  My groups are either Google Home Mini’s or Chromecast Audio devices.  Additionally, I have my home music located on a NAS and the app plays that music just fine, but, I cannot figure how to have google to play my music from my NAS through the port.  Whew!  And that was just my first post.  Thanks for any help.  Ralph.

I have sonos all over my house and Alexa does not have a service in Greece. If i buy a product like Echo Dot will i be able to give voice command to Sonos and play my music from APPLE MUSIC and not Amazon music? is there another product i can buy so i can give voice commands to sonos in Greece and play my APPLE music??? Thank you in advance!

Explain to me like I’m an idiot why Google Assistant isn’t available in certain countries. Why can’t it just be “switched on”. I live in Japan. I get why maybe Japanese language support isn’t ready but for those of us that are happy to communicate in English, why can’t we have the option?

In my living room I have both my TV, with a Beam for sound, and my hi-fi (turntable, amplifier, passive speakers). I’m looking at getting a Port or Connect for my hi-fi to both stream music to the system from Spotify and also to integrate the turntable into my multiroom system.I want all music to go through the Port/hi-fi, and all TV to go through the Beam. So my understanding is that I would just create two ‘rooms’ - one for TV and one for Music?What I’m unsure about though is the Alexa integration. The Port obviously doesn’t have Alexa integration and the Beam does. I can connect an Echo device to the Port, but having two voice devices in the same room could be annoying.So, is there a way of setting things up so that if I ask Alexa through the Beam to play music, it plays on the hi-fi instead? Or would I need to disable Alexa on the Beam and connect an Echo device to the Port, and use that for all voice-control in this room? Or something else?!

Using Google Assistant [ga] I turn off the TV, then ask to play music on Spotify and Beam always asking me if I want to play on TV!?! I say NO NO NO and nothing happens. I have to use the app to listen to music. Very annoying. Anyone knows a solution to this? Thanks.

I’ve seen there’s a couple of similar topics about web radios not launching from TuneIn, but none fits exactly my problem. I have a Sonos One SE with the Alexa voice control. I’m based in Spain, and have used the command “Alexa play X on TuneIn” for a long time (I can either say it in English or in Spanish, and it works). But three days ago, every time I ask the same command, I get an answer like “The station X isn’t available right now on TuneIn” (well, Alexa says it in Spanish, literally “La emisora X no está disponible en este momento para TuneIn”) So it seems the command is recognized, because the name of the station is said correctly. I have another Echo device and the same command works perfectly there. Launching the station from the Sonos app on my phone also works. The problem happens with stations from my country (like “RAC1” “Cadena COPE” or “RNE Radio Nacional”), so it shouldn’t be a matter of regional restrictions. The only station I’ve managed to launch is “CNN en Español”

Hello, I’m facing a weird problem. I’m having Alexa enabled on my Move, my Arc and two Play:1. Alexa is working perfectly fine on the Move but neither on the Ones nor on the Arc. After saying “Alexa” the sound appears and after telling it “play radiostation x” it confirm “playing radio station x from tunein” but then nothing happens. As well, I have a skill setup for my favorite radiostation. After saying “play radiostation y” the skills start, the welcome me on their station and then - dead silence. All of this is working perfectly fine. Facts in reagards to the system:3x Play:12x Play:One1 Sonos Arc with Sub 3 and two SL as surround1 Move Of course, the latest software update is installed, controller up to date. WIFI/Router has been rebootet, no settings changed. If unplugged the entire system and bootet it up beginning with Arc and ending with the Move. If completely removed Alexa from all speakers, rebootet the entire sysem, setup Alex again - exactly same issue.  Anbody got a clue

A weird one, but we use the Google Assistant on our Sonos One to regularly set timers, but now - no matter what time we ask for - it only sets a one minute timer.So in response to "hey Google, set a 10/20/30 minute timer", we get "1 minute timer starting now" We can ask Google to add to the timer, and it does this absolutely fine, but the initial request just isn't working. Oh and if we ask it for a 1 hour timer, it sets that up fine too. Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone know a fix?

Hello!I have 2 sonos one which i struggle with.I want to use my google hub to (Voice) control the two speakers. I want the two speakers to be synconized, so that i Can hear the same music in both rooms.How do i do that?

I have a Sonos Beam in my bedroom and a Sonos One in my office.  If I am listening to music in my office and my wife asks Alexa something on the Sonos Beam, my Sonos One mutes.  How can I fix this?  This doesn’t seem normal.

If subscribed to Tidal music streaming service, you can link up to Sonos in the Sonos app, and you can add it to Alexa via the Tidal skill. There is no option to add it to Google Home, and apparently that’s because it is not supported.No problem - my Sonos One stereo pair runs Google Assistant, but I have an Echo Dot sitting next to them, and it’s set to use the Sonos speakers as the default music output and Tidal as the default music service, so I can just say “Alexa, play (title)”, and it plays from Tidal on the Sonos speakers.But if I say “Hey Google, play (title) from Tidal”, it thinks for a long time with the light flashing (7-8 seconds), then says “Ok, playing (title) on Tidal… Sorry, it looks like Sonos isn’t available right now.”Probably the issue is simply that Google Assistant doesn’t support streaming from Tidal.
