Voice control and smart home

After connecting Sonos One to smartphone and downloading Alexa app (with Sonos Skill), the Alexa app dosen't recognize my device and sends an error saying "Detection ERROR". I retried to do the configuration from the beginning (I did a factory-reboot on the Sonos) but nothing change. I'm in Argentina, could it be that Alexa dosen't work here?

Alexa does not respond to 'stop' when using Spotify. Anybody any idea why?

During the week, I automatically received the new BBC skill, for playing BBC radio and podcasts. It works fine on my Echo & Dot - 'Ask BBC to play (station name) works as expected. Not so on my Sonos One - I get the announcement 'Here's (station name), followed by a chime, then nothing. I'd particularly like this skill to work as it's definitely higher quality than TuneIn on my other Alexa devices, and gives easy access to BBC podcasts. Any idea why it doesn't work please? Could it be related to the reason why the Sleep Sounds skill fails to play any sound? I've performed all the usual steps, disabling / re-enabling skills etc to no avail.

Got Sonos One and play 1, with Amazon music. Keep having to ask Alexa to discover devices to ask her to play music/playlists (otherwise she just says sorry I can’t do that or whatever it is. Then when it does after we ask her to discover devices, she adhocally ignores stop or next song, or just plays one song in a playlist. Also Every time we ask her to discover devices the app duplicates all our home (Phillips hue) as well so haveto delete them. Wondering if anyone has any ideas? Thank you 🙂

Hi any ideas how to add my mrs iTunes account to sonos so she can play her stuff when I am out?

I have sonos 1 and 5. Trying to have Alexa play on either or both devices. How do I set up multi room? On sonos or Alexa app and how ?

Is anyone experiencing their Sonos being unable to skip songs by voice request when Spotify is playing?

At present I say, "Alexa play x on lounge" which works well. Is it possible to default all music output to 'lounge' without having to say it, example, "Alexa play x" and it plays on my Sonos 'lounge' speaker?

Anyone else think this should be a no brainer?

I own an echo dot and I live in the netherlands. It works perfectly well. The only workaround is I have to tell it I live in the UK. I use it in english set to united states, just to be clear. I can set all these things through the alexa app. If I get a sonos one, will it actually work in the netherlands? I really want this product, and the limitation is silly to say the least. When I try to preorder one it says: --------- Voice control for Sonos is not supported in your country, yet. These features will be available when Sonos and a voice service launch together in your region. Amazon Alexa support for Sonos One is available in: Austria Germany United Kingdom United States ---------- Can somebody from Sonos reply to this simple question: - will I be able to simply change the country setting and have it work perfectly, like I do now with my amazon echo dot?

I have a Boost system which runs 2x Play One's in stereo, 1x Play One and a Play 3. A little confused at the new development. a) Two ways to make Alexa work with my system. 1: purchase the Alexa/Sonos speaker or 2: purchase an Amazon Echo or Dot. Is this correct, to make all my system work? b) Working with Boost, this creates a "special WIFI system just for Sonos speakers" Will this be ok to work with a) ? I have read everything on here about Alexa etc., I just want to have my system working under this exciting new system. Please help. Thank you.

I have echos and sonos in rooms that are adjacent, and i noticed in your email saying that you'll make it so just the room you're talking to turns down. I'd prefer that you left an option in to lower the volume on all speakers. As I said, having echo and sonos in adjacent rooms means that speakers in other rooms can still make it difficult for alexa to understand my commands.

One of the first things I wanted to enjoy when I got my first Sonos Play:3 was an audiobook - I've always loved them, and had by that stage been an Audible subscriber for over 12 months - and whilst I was disappointed to find Audible had not been integrated, I saw that Audiobooks.com was available - so I rushed out and subscribed (still got my membership, so big win for Audiobooks.com!) so I could have some Audioboks to listen to. Then I saw the Sonos ONE announced. Clearly I allowed hope to rule factual knowledge and so I didn't even look to verify that Sonos ONE, with Alexa built-in, would actually have Audible compatibility - I just assumed, given they would be working with Amazon to integrate Alexa, that they would figure out whatever obstacles stood in the way of Audible integration. Wrong! Now I not only have no Audible on Sonos, but - and this is the part I'm really annoyed about, the reason I'm making this topic - Sonos ONE will not take voice commands concerning Audiob

I have a Sonos One when I ask Alexa to play SiriusXM it says Sorry something went wrong. If I play it using the Sonos app it works fine.

Being a newbie to my Sonus and Alexa. I hope my query is a simple one. I have connected my Alexa Dot to my Sonos Play 5 using the 3.5 mm single jack lead. Alexa picks up my request to play music from my Spotify through the Sonos speaker and plays perfectly. However when i ask Alexsa a normal question eg weather forecast etc the dot picks up the request but i can hear nothing through any speaker.However when i disconnect the jack lead from Alexa and ask the question again I can hear the reply only through the Alexa speaker. Would like to hear reply through my Sonus without having to disconnect the jack lead every time. Tried everything i can think of. Anybody had the same problem. Many thanks in advance.

Set up new Sonos One. Alexa will start playing when requested but when requested to stop or pause, Alexa responds with "I can change playback mode only when music is playing" despite the fact that music is currently playing. Alexa will respond to other questions like "what's the weather?" but then music resumes. Alexa just won't stop, or play music on another speaker once started.

I have a new Echo, which my wife was using to play music (using Spotify via Alexa) in one room, while i was playing music on my Sonos speaker (using Spotify via Sonos desktop) in another room. However, it keeps on stopping on my speaker (or on Echo) because Spotify is being used on another device. We have Spotitfy family subscription. why can't we use on two devices? Any way around the issue?

Ok — the news is still fresh and I havent even had time to try any of this. But reading the news blogs it appears the sonos/alexa integration currently works with Tunein and Amazon Prime / Unlimited only. So no Spotify (yet), Deezer, Todal and no localally stored music. Ok, this is all well and good. But the obvious question then is if Amazon music offers no high quality service (320bps i believe) what benefit is there in there in having Sonos equipment over Echo equipment?? I guess we bought into Sonos due to its superior audio, and for my part my local music is lossless and my streaming service is Deezer hifi. It seems. If I want to use voice control I’m now limited to MP3 quality. Can anyone confirm this ? Regards Andrew

Is there a disposition and/or ETA on Alexa/Tidal integration?

I have 2 of the Sonos One and the Alexa App is setup on both units but only one is responding to the alert command. Both Sonos units appear on the Alex app under the Smart Home menu and are enabled. Is there a setting that I am missing or is Alexa only available for use on one unit and not both at the same time?

It seems that the Alexa routines do not support the Sonos yet. Can you add the skill to allows routines to change the volume for a sonos device and pause. Would need both capabilities to allow the TV volume to lowered since pausing does nothing for the playbar.

30 days ago I had never heard of Sonos. So when I heard about the integration with Alexa I ordered a Play:1. Now I learn that the Sonos Play:1 is NOT the same thing as the Sonos One. The Play:1 does NOT have the Alexa built in. I have gotten the Play:1 to work (kinda) with the Alexa but when you do multiroom play with Alexa, the dot I have in my office will not connect to my Play:1. May be, probably is, user error. but sure as heck aint an obvious thing to this old boy. I had to set up an Alexa group (in this case I chose "Office"). If my wife is listening to her music in the living room, and I want to play music in my "office", I have to play from my iPhone as the Alexa Dot says, "Music is already being streamed from another device. Do you want to stream from here instead?", So, one or the other of us gets to use our Prime but not both. And, again, if we share, the Sonos speaker is ignored. We have an Echo in the living room. It's hard to even google this as a search ALWAYS return

I tried setting a music alarm on Sonos One with the command “Alexa, wake me up to X at 6:30am.” Alexa responded that music alarms are not currently supported in my region (i.e., UK). Is this true? Is this expected tp change soon through an update?

Have routines set up in Alexa app, ie: Alexa, good moring. Where she should tell me the weather, traffic, newx, etc. Nothing happens except silence. Has anyone else had this issue or is there a trick to setting it up?

I have 2 echo dots and a couple of sonos play 5 and sonos ones. Playing spotify on the play 5 works great through the “alexa play xyz in livingroom” command. Up untill today i could say “alexa stop” or “alexa skip/next” and the commands would work if anything was playing on the play 5. For some reason now i HAVE TO SAY “alexa stop living room” or “alexa play next song in living room” (on the sonos one i do not need to specify room name, which works as advertised) Why do i have to say the room name, it used to work without that for stop or skip commands (it is also advertised to not need to specify room name for those commands)? I tried disabling sonos skill, deregistering, rebooting echo’s and sonos to no avail. Anyone have some advise how i can get this to work as it used to? I do not mind specifying room when initiating playback, but expect the context to remain when saying stop or skip without having to specify the room name. Thanks!
