Voice control and smart home

Hi Using the BBC radio stations from Tunein has stopped working. If I say, for example, "Play Radio four" it replies playing "Playing BBC Radio 4 from Tunein on (Front Room)". Then silence. On all my Sonos speakers. Other radio stations from Tunein work. If I just use my Echo Dot it works. Though I suspect Amazon are not using Tunein? I am not sure. I can play Radio 4 through the Sonos app on my mobile phone. Music works. From Spotify. Tunein directly works on my PC. I have tried switching my router off and on again. I have switched my Sonos speaker off and on again. I have Disabled and Enabled the Sonos skill. Not working. Anybody got any suggestions?

Hi, I’ve just purchased a Playbase and totally happy the performance. The only thing I’m less impressed with is the connection to my TV remote. Does anybody know whether the TV volume can be adjusted using voice control via Amazon Alexa? I’ve got several Echo Dots around the house that work faultlessly with my Play 1, Play 3 and Play 5 speakers. Thanks.

Has anyone had any luck in having Alexa access their Nest thermostat, or any other smart devices? I have the skills added and linked, but Alexa cannot find my nest thermostats, iHome smart plugs, or Arlo Pro cameras. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to set up a routine on Sonos one through Alexa app it seems to control the lighting but will not give me audio response? Why is this?

For Christmas, I bought an Alexa Dot off Amazon Canada for the main purpose of voice control of our Sonos system. The description said it supported this. I would not have purchased Alexa if I knew this was, in fact, not the case in Canada. I'm very disappointed. When will the Sonos skill be available in Canada?

So I turned on follow-up mode on my sonos one and now it has gone crazy. After I issue a command it goes “bong” bong bong bong bong etc continuously. Unplugged and plugged in and it kept doing it. Turned off follow-up mode for now which seems to have solved the problem. Any one else see this?

I have music playing on my sonos via the sonos app. But sometimes when i ask alexa to play it will say hmm. you''ll have to enable the skill, but yet if i then go into the actual sonos app and press play it works. why does alexa not always play and pause when i ask it, even if music is showing as paused on the app?

I've had my first Sonos One for a couple of months now and I'm deciding to part ways with Sonos entirely. There are just too many cons to the few pros for me. I thought I'd provide some of my feedback: Pros + Great sound quality - best in its class in my opinion + Great build, looks elegant and sleek Cons - Proprietary Sonos app for iOS is complete junk Can't scrub songs i.e. skip forward Need to save favourites to the Sonos app and then they don't reflect in the music service Can't play the previous song when using the Google Play service - Can't cast from native apps of Sonos supported services like Google Play (this seems to be an iOS thing) - "Can't connect to device" when I'm more than 5m away from it even though my wifi signal is max - No Bluetooth, which I can get over, but when a friend want's to play some music, then it's a complete waste of time getting them into the eco-system - No mini-jack input - Alexa is not supported in my country

I just got my Sonos system (Play Bar, Sub, and 2 Play 1s ) I set all of these up in the same room (Living Room). Living room appears as a device in my Alexia app, but I can not add it to an Alexia Multi Room Music group. Does anyone know why or how I can fix this? Thanks

Where can I find a list of Alexa Skills supported by Sonos One? It's frustrating to go through the setup of skills only to find they are not supported. Thanks.

Hi I just got the Sono one but the Voice command cannot be connected. Does it mean Alexa is not available in Singapore?

Just got the new Alexa integration working but where are the Audible Audiobooks???!!! This is my number one use case and been waiting for two years since Sonos broke the previous integration. Come on people!

I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times, but I can't find it under the search menu. I just got a Play:1 and in discovering more about just using the Sonos App, I was listening to a station that I have selected in Amazon Music. I wanted to repeat a track, but there was no was of doing so via the Sonos App. This does not make sense, especially if I heard a song a couple of minutes ago, and want to know what song it was, artist, etc. I can't figure a way to back up the app or look at play history. Now, you may be asking, why are you posting this in the Alexa section? Because, when I use Amazon Music through Alexa app or voice control, I cannot control the volume of my Play:1 with my iPhone. I guess that is an Amazon thing, but this too is foolish and creates a fragmented system. I have to go to Alexa app to back up a track or figure out who it was, and then I have to go to the Sonos app to control the volume of the speaker??? This can't be the way it is designed to be. I h

Hello, I bought a $30 Alexa remote over the weekend and this little guy is just great.. no more yelling across the room to control Sonos through Alexa. No more yelling across the room to control my home lights through Alexa :) While the voice activation sent from over the remote works great controlling Sonos, The remote has some hardkeys that unfortunately do not control Sonos. I would just LOVE if Sonos can work with the Alexa team to make the hard buttons active across the Sonos platform. Considering that Sonos never really had a remote control (except the original Sonos controller that went extinct), it would be super ideal to have a pause button, fast forward/skip or rewind and volume buttons all active on this cool little remote so when pressed Alexa will somehow know the commands are to control the active Sonos system that’s playing music. Please please won’t the Sonos team work with the Alexa team to implement this feature.. pretty please 🙂

I am a new user setting up a system for my father so he can using Alexa commands to listen to music stored on my mom's computer. (He's very computer-phobic). I can get Alexa to open up the music library and start playing at random, and from there to skip a track. But I can't get it to start playing a particular song or artist. Even more confusing, if I say, for example, "Alexa, play Warren Zevon," it will start playing Warren Zevon songs that are not in my library. I don't know where this music is coming from! I removed all streaming services. Help!

According to online messages re the availability of alexa voice control for sonos one in Australia it was stated the app should be released in Autumn. We are now into the middle of autumn but still no alexa app for sonos.:@

I am curious to know if alexa on the play one is able to do drop in. If it is not then when would it possibly be available? Thanks

Using the same voice commands on an Echo Dot works great, it'll play Discover Weekly, or any of my created playlists from Spotify. However using the same commands on a Sonos One, it "cannot find the playlist". Trying a variety of commands: Alexa play Discovery Weekly Alexa play Discovery Weekly from Spotify Alexa play Discovery Weekly playlist All return the same error through the Sonos one. Anyone else experiencing this or have a solve?

We set up our new sonos with alexa a couple of months ago and she worked fine for about 2 weeks. Then voice services just completely stopped working. In the app, it looks like everything is still fine. So we disconnect Alexa and reconnect and it works fine. Again for about two weeks. This keeps happening over and over and it really frustrating. Any ideas?

I call them "Soundscape Skills" - like "Relaxing Nature Sounds", "Ambient Sounds: Cricket Sounds", "Rain Sounds", etc. There's hundreds of them. On my Sonos One, perhaps only one in ten works properly. If a Soundscape Skill doesn't work properly, the symptom is that I hear nothing at all. Evidence seems to point to the fact that Alexa thinks that the Soundscape is playing, but nothing whatsoever is audible at any volume level. I tried dozens upon dozens of these late last night, and only found a handful which worked properly. Alexa otherwise seems to be performing perfectly well. I am working with Sonos tech support on this, but since the diagnostic reports look absolutely fine, it's difficult for support to troubleshoot this problem. My question is, am I the only one with this symptomatology?

I just updated to the newest version for my 3 Sonos Ones. I have changed my default music service to Spotify. When asking Alexa (Sonos One) to play a song it will not respond the first time and just stays silent. Do it a second time and it plays right away. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've spent a few weeks trying to understand the capabilities of Sonos speakers - think I'm getting there. For a few years I've been using iMac/iTunes to Airplay music to 3 speakers around the house, but the arrival of an Echo dot and having signed up to Prime music (limited package) means I want to make more of this. Please could someone help to clarify my thoughts, concerns and fears... 1) Looking to buy 3 Sonos Ones & Playbase. (Likely the Echo Dot will be redundant, but feel it's worth buying the more recent 'Ones' than Play 1s.) 2) It sounds like I can still stream my iTunes library/ Playlists via the Sonos App. Presumably I could also control this from my iPhone/iPad as long as the Mac remains switched on? 3) Sounds like Airplay 2 is also on the way (including Playbase?). Not sure how this would necessarily improve things, although I've read about failings in the Sonos App when it comes to functionality but don't know what.
