Voice control and smart home

Hi, Is it just me or Alexa is an uterly useless assistant? I have been using my phone's Google Assistant for the past few years and assumed it was amongst the least performing ones since it came after Siri and Alexa. Oh boy was I wrong it seems! I have 9 Sonos systems, 4 of which are Sonos One. I was very excited at the idea of controlling my speakers with my voice. It took many more months for this feature to arrive in Canada, but it finally did. Setting it up has been a puzzling challenge. Critique: - For a start, I can't specify the location of my speakers (address). Every time I try to configure the address and press "save", I get an error message that stated: "We're sorry. We weren't able to update the address associated with this device. Please check your network connectivity and try again later". My network connectivity is fine, Alexa, thank you. This has been going on for months. Whenever I ask for the weather, it gives me the weather in Westlake, Wa. Worst, I ca

Problems encountered so far: 1) Would not recognise my Living Room and play music then randomly did. 2) Says it cannot work in my kitchen even though works fine in Sonos App, and also listed in Alexa App. 3) When I say 'Play (artists) in Living room" it just plays the last song listed on the Songs App. No way at all to select artists via voice command. 4) When asking it to stop etc, have to shout at it. I know its beta but this is unusable and not like a usual Sonos Beta- very poor quality needs pulling and sorting out first. Fault may be with Alexa which I have generally found next to useless, for example very poor at controlling my Nest Thermostat etc. Fortunately the Sonos app itself still works fine and never lets me down. Could it be because we are operating on a Sonos bridge?

Is there any scheduled date for alexa to be working on sonos one in ireland

I have a Sonos One which was working perfectly with Amazon music (Prime) and Tune In Radio via Alexa until the 8.6 update. Now it will not play Amazon Music. For example, if I say 'Play rock' its says 'No rock music found', but I can use the Android app and chose Amazon music and it works fine - the same command works fine on my Echo Dot. If Is say 'Play Radio 2' it now longer says it is playing it from Tune In, it says 'playing Radio 2' but there is no sound. When I ask for my daily briefing it starts playing the briefing at a lower voulme before it finishes saying the words 'Playing your daily briefing' How can I fix this? thanks

Hello, I have a question to the community... I have an Alexa dot connected to a stereo system via aux cable, and also a Sonos system with 3 speakers. My question is - can I tell Alexa to play music on a stereo system AND on Sonos as well? I have no problem when asking Alexa to play music on stereo system OR on Sonos, but can't get her to play music on both systems at the same time. Is this possible? Thank you

Alexa is connected but can't find any music

I've enabled the Plex Skill in Alexa and am able to issue voice commands to play music from my Plex server on my Echo device. However, on the Sonos One, it goes through the motions and actually says it's playing music, but nothing comes out. Does anyone know if this is a feature not or not yet available on the Sonos One or if I have an issue with my device? Thanks.

Hello I m having an issue with my Sonos one / Alexa whenever I say Alexa it says I m having issue understaning right now it used to work but had to make some changes on my amazon account ( changes made by amazon support ) since then I can no longer control my sonos one using ALexa I deregistered my sonos and tried to register again skills is enabled device is discovered on my Alexa app I can see a sonos one that I cannot unregister

My Sonos one cannot connected to Amazon Music as it is defaulting to Amazon.com instead of amazon.co.uk when adding service. Anything I can do about this? Thanks.

Alexa command to play music in one room with Sonos One, causes other room, which is already playing music on a different Sonos One to stop.

Sonos One is not playing certain skills such as Sleep Sounds (and other similar ambient noise skills). You ask it to open this skill and it does nothing. If you give it a further command in the skill it responds saying "you're currently enjoying Sleep Sounds, etc..." so it thinks it's playing it but it's clearly not.

Has any one come across an issue with their Sonos one where Alexa on Sonos one take about 5-10 seconds before acknowledging the command and then returning the response. A simple command of whats the time take about 10-15 sec to return the answer. The Google Home mini as a comparison responds instantly. I hope I don't have a dodgy speaker, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

How have Alexa play music on ALL my Sonos speakers (not just one)?

How do I change the metric units from Fahrenheit to Celsius on Sonos One? Also how do I set my correct location in the UK?

I bought a Sonos One today and got Alexa working in The Netherlands just flawlessly ... although they say its not available overhere ... I activated the Sonos Skill, Hue Skill and can control lights and play music on my One ... I can add my other speakers / rooms to the Smart Home Skills in the Alexa-app, have used unique names and when I ask Alexa to play some music by any artist she responds with: " I didn't find anything that can play music in the living room (or master bedroom or kids room) ... I have restarted my speakers twice, reset the whole system, began form scratch twice ... but still ... It worked once this afternoon ... so it it possible to say to Alexa to play music on another speaker in my network ... but she thinks it's not possible ... although they are visible in the Alexa-app ... what can be the issue? Anyone had similar experiences?

So, it's great that when I'm in the living room with music playing and I speak to the Echo in the same room that the volume automatically mutes on the Sonos gear in the same room. However, I find it kind of silly that it mutes Sonos equipment in other rooms. For example, it's 8am, I'm downstairs in my home office, listening to the news or some music on my Play:5. My wife's getting ready to head out to work, and in the bedroom, which is on a different floor and at the opposite end of the house. Both doors are closed too. She takes a moment to ask the Echo Dot in our bedroom about today's weather. And my Play:5 gets muted, despite being nowhere near where she is. Why not group into zones to prevent this? Like "Upstairs Echo & Living Room" get grouped, and "Office Dot & Office" get grouped for muting purposes. I can't see any options in either the Sonos app, Alexa app, or the Sonos Alexa Skill to do something like this, so if the capability exists, it's pretty well hidden.

I have an Amazon Dot connected to my play5 using the line in option. Until today Alexa speech volume and the music volume were fine. I have now updated my speakers, but now I can hardly hear Alexa speaking. (Weather reports etc) If I ask her to play music the volume is fine. I have set the line in volume to 10 for the speaker in the options, but this makes no difference. Anyone else having this issue.? Thanks Marc

I have rebooted my wifi, unplugged for a reboot of my alex/sonos 1 combo unit. It had been working fine and now is not. As far as I can tell, both apps seem to be in order - any help would be appreciated

I live in France but am a native English speaker. I have a SONOS system with a several speakers and it works fine. I would like to add a SONOS ONE with Alexa to my system. SONOS ONE with Alexa is not yet available in France as it is currently undergoing translation into French. I would like an English-language Alexa, NOT French. If I purchase a SONOS ONE with Alexa in the UK (or USA) is there any reason why it would not work in France?

Hi, I hve multiple Sonos products (Play1, Play3, Connect Amp)....I can setup "whole house"group in the Sonos app. But, I can' see how to set up "whole house" that Alexa will recognize? I also posted elsewhere that the living room volume through Alexa (even at 10) isnot as loud as direct play through the Sonos app?

Alexa worked fine... now it doesn't and the Sonos app says: Voice service: Not available in your country?? BUT I AM IN THE USA

I own 1 Sonos One in my kitchen and in a separate room two play ones (in stereo) and one play three. Can ask Alexa in the kitchen to start playing music on my grouped two play one and play 3 in the other room?

As of the last couple of weeks Alexa seems to not respond as well as it used to on our Sonos Ones. Anyone else having problems.

New to the forum and new to Sonos. My first question...I just bought and received my Sonos One and set it up then tried to connect it to Alexa and guess what I find out now it doesnt work in the Netherlands, I am based here for work for a long while....and then find out voice control is also not supported here! Have I just bought an expensive "basic" speaker that any bluetooth speaker has the capability to do? Question 2 when will the features that I paid for be active here?

For some reason I am having trouble getting the alexa on my sonos one to enable skills ,it keeps saying unable to do this skill or something close..any solutions?
