Voice control and smart home

I would like to be able to turn on music on my sonos speakers using Google Assistant. However, it can only play from Pandora. I can’t figure out how to play from the Sonos Music Library, or a Sonos Playlist.    Is there a way to do this?

When I try to play NTS Radio using my voice, it always uses TuneIn. I’d prefer to use the NTS Radio app.

I have a Sonos One. I recently moved it to another plug socket in the same room and, ever since I moved it, Alexa has become unable to play music via Spotify. When asked to play music from Spotify, Alexa says "To play Spotify, link your premium account first using the Alexa app." In the Alexa App > Settings > Music Services, Spotify is already linked to my account (which is a premium account). Although Alexa has become unable to connect to Spotify, I can still get Spotify music to play through the Sonos One speaker via the Spotify App. Things I've tried: I've tried unlinking and relinking my Spotify account in the Alexa app. I've tried removing Alexa entirely from the Sonos One and re-adding it. I've tried removing the Sonos skill from Alexa and re-adding the skill. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here and/or what I can do to sort it out? Thanks!

Other posts have referred to the noise the Sonos makes when you use the “Alexa” wake word as a “Chime” … I just think it’s a horrid noise!  There’s been plenty of posts about disabling the chime, and Sonos responded with a feature to do this.  However, it’s actually quite useful to know when Sonos is listening as you can’t always see the light, and lets be honest, it’s not always that sensitive!   Sooo I’m posting to plead that an option is added to change the “chime” to something a little less “dull”, maybe a bit shorter.  A simple little bleep would be great and far less annoying.  Anyone else agree, or has everyone just disabled that “noise” ?

Is this normal? If so this is awful. It's exactly why I've never been able to use them for surround sound with the beam and alexa. My room is very long, now I have to shout all the way across when I'm at the other end of the room.

Hi all, I just bought Sonos One and it works perfectly. Did add Apple Music service, works with Air Play, ... So far, so good. Then I tried to add it to my Home via ... Add Accessory Don't Have a Code or Can't Scan? ... but my device didn't appear there even after couple of minutes. I was searching this forum and I've found that I have to disable Group Non-AirPlay Speakers. The problem is that this option is there (control app), but it's greyed out (can't disable it). Trying to disable it in the Settings - AirPlay. Sonos Control app version 9.2 (build 46357271), Sonos One speaker 9.2 (build 46357250), iOS 12.1. How can I disable the Group Non-AirPlay Speakers to make it working with HomeKit? Thanks, Robert P.S. I tried to disable Home in iOS, reboot Sonos One, etc. Nothing helps. This is the only thing that doesn't work for me. Rest works like a charm.

I can’t play music on any music service or do broadcast or anything like that. It says ‘sorry this mode isn’t available in the family room’ i have two sonos ones paired with a playbase

I have recently moved address and I have changed my address on my Sonos account on the webpage. However when I ask Alexa for my location she still thinks I am at my old address. How to I fix this?

OK, lots of us have had issues with losing connection with SiriusXM.  Today, I was listening to one SiriusXM station and when I changed to another SiriusXM station, I lost the connection!  And now I can’t listen to any SiriusXM station.  The status page shows SiriusXM is up and running, and I can get SiriusXM on another device.  And I can listen to any TuneIn station I want.  Any suggestions?  I’ve yet to see a definitive answer to the question that lots and lots of us have.   Ok, one hour later, my connection to SiriusXM comes back.  And I didn’t do anything such as reboot the router, reinstall the app, etc.    I just tried to connect every 5 or 10 minutes, and I finally connected.  Any ideas?  One thing: even though this seems to be a somewhat common problem, I’ve yet to see an explanation of the problem.  But maybe I’ve missed that.  If I knew why I was losing connectivity, I may be in a better position to fix my problem.

Does anyone know of how I can display the artwork of the currently playing music on a TV, ideally with the song name, album name, and TV? I listen to a lot of playlists and I'd love to be able to see what artist/album I'm listening to. Is there any third party integration that will do this?

saw a few threads on volume issues - many were old and never resolved…I have a beam connected to a TV through the HDMI - all works great but alexa volume too low. If I ask her to increase HER volume - she does but it also puts the TV volume (which is the Beam) to the same level which is too loud.Beam/TV on 31 percent volume = GOOD but ALexa too low have to stand right next to her (Beam)I ask alexa to her volume, she says device volume 1I ask to turn her volume up to 5She says OK and turns up to 5 - which puts the TV/Beam to 50 percent! OUCH!any help?   

i have sonos beam connected to Samsung mu7070 HDMI (arc) & sky q to HDMI 1. Alexa will turn the TV on but not off. can anybody shine any light on my anguish? Thanks.

I have a Sonos One and can't get Alexa to work. I cannot get the microphone button on the top to light up, no matter what I press or for how long. Any help please

Hi, I’m thinking of buying a SONOS AMP, and I want to connect my 2 BeoLab 8000 speakers. BeoLab uses 8-pin Power Link cables. How to connect these to a SONOS AMP, what type of “in between” cable is needed, and how to set this up? Thanks for your help.   /Ulf

I purchased a new 2018 Samsung Q6 Smart TV and now my new Sonos Beam with Alexa won't turn the TV off but it will still turn it on. It worked with my older Samsung Smart TV. Any suggestions?

I can issue play/volume commands on Google Assistant to a specific speaker (e.g. "Play x station on Pandora in Kitchen"). However how do I command to play in Kitchen, Dining Room, and Bedroom (as an example)? Is there a command for 'everywhere'? or 'all speakers'? (e.g. "Play x station on Pandora in Everywhere")

Hey guys!  I am fairly new to the Sonos world (and somewhat to Alexa).  I’ve run into an issue that is driving me crazy and I can’t seem to resolve.  In my bedroom, I have a Sonos One SL and the Amazon Echo Show 5.  I can’t use voice commands to play music on the Sonos; it always plays on the Show.  No matter what I ask Alexa to play in the Master Bedroom, it always comes out the Show, even when I try to be specific and tell it which device. For background I’ve.. Added both devices to the Master Bedroom group. Made sure the Sonos is the Preferred Speaker. Confirmed I can play music to both devices individually thru the Alexa app, so I know the app sees the Sonos speaker. Removed the Sonos skill and readded it, making sure all settings are correct. Deleted the Group in Alexa and rebuilt it. I’m sure I’m probably missing something easy, but I am stumped! I have read other posts here, I’ve googled, I’ve watched YouTube videos.  

Hi, I recently purchased a Sonos One: Gen 2 to pair with my existing One: Gen 1. I was able to create a stereo pair with the two and they both amazing together. However, I can't get the Alexa voice control to work with the stereo pair or the new Gen 2 speaker. Alexa control was working fine on the Gen 1 speaker and when separating the pair and adding voice control it works fine on the Gen 1 speaker, but doing the same thing on the Gen 2 does not work. It takes me through the process and loads the amazon login page where i enter my credentials and proceeds to load for about 15 seconds and then I keep getting an error message saying to "try again later". I have tried several solutions from previous forums, of which none have worked. I have tried powering off/on, resetting the controller, removing and adding skill in Alexa app, completely setting up the speakers again, resetting router, using ethernet connection, different device to complete setup (changed from Samsung to iPad). Sonos bean Alexa will play music but won’t control my smart home, she will say “okay” to a command, but it doesn’t work. I’ve got echo dots around house that all work?

Add more 30 bucks to your set up and add a google chrome cast so you can group you Sonos to other google speakers. It works like a charm. moreover you have the nice presentation of the current playing song on tv.   

 alexa answers question through sonus beam and says it will play a requested song but nothing happens. Just dead space. Apple music is linked but no connection. Pandora has same problem.  

brand new playbase +sub and 2) sonos one as surrounds. works great as surround system -or- sonos one works great as stand alone alexa, but can not get both simultaneously. have read many forums firmware is up to date have tried adding sonos one individually to playbase room etc. once sonos one becomes part of surround system, alexa becomes unable to respond and control. also the process leaves one’s confused where sometimes they are both trying to listen but still of no help. i would like the sequence of steps to setup playbase +sub & 2) sonos one as a surround sound system, with one of the sonos one surrounds as the alexa assistant. thank you and standing by

I've only been using Google Assistant on Sonos for a couple of days, but I'm noticing that there's a frequent and variable response delay. Often why I say "Hey Google" plus a command to do something, like turn on a light or play some music, there's a delay of up to 10 seconds before it responds. Other times the same command will respond quickly, similar to the speed I'm accustomed to with my Google Home speakers or with Alexa. This delay is unpredictable but happens quite often. There was no similar delay with Alexa on the Sonos One, and the speaker has a good WiFi connection. There is one common pattern to the delay: normally the white LED on top of the Sonos One brightens as soon as I say "Hey Google", stays bright while I speak the following command, blinks for a second or two after I finish speaking as the command is being processed, then then action happens while Google Assistant speaks the response. A few days ago, Alexa stopped resuming my Sonos system. I used to be able to say, "Alexa, resume the (Sonos name)," and she would resume that Sonos and all Sonos units grouped with it. Now, nothing happens. I've tried simply saying "Alexa resume," and that works for a short period of time, but if the Sonos has been paused for more than a few minutes, that won't work either. Alexa also no longer tells me what's playing, simply saying, "I don't have information on what's playing on Sonos." The one thing it does still do correctly is pause the music when I say, "Alexa, pause the (Sonos name)," or "Alexa pause." Anyone else having these issues or have a solution? My configuration: 6 Echo Dots grouped into 4 Alexa groups with 6 Sonos units of various types associated with the different Alexa groups. I group the Sonos units for playback across Alexa groups using the Sonos app.
