Hi everyone,I’m trying to decide between the Sonos Arc and Beam Gen 2. I can get both for roughly the same price (Arc is actually €50 cheaper), and I’m finding it hard to choose.A bit about my setup: TV: 65″ with HDMI eARC Room: Medium-sized living room Use: Mostly Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, movies, and music Here are the two options I’m thinking about: Beam Gen 2 + Era 100 pair + Sub Mini Arc standalone bar and later add Sub Gen4 Arc + Sub Gen 3 or 4 now, and maybe add Era 100/300 as rear speakers later I’m looking for good movie immersion, clear dialogue, and solid music performance without going overboard.Given my TV and room size, would you go Arc now or Beam + surrounds? Any advice or real-world experience would be super helpful! Thanks!Ashu
I have a TCL QM8K and for the first months with my setup everything was working fine. I have the Beam Gen 2 connected to the ARC port of the TV and Play:1 as surround speakers. I was able to play movies with AAC 5.1 or 7.1 with no problem. Now the movies with AAC only plays as PCM 2.0. I have no idea if it was an update that caused this. I even downgraded my TV OS to see if that was the problem but it wasn’t. I have a huge catalog of movies and a lot of them are only in AAC multichannel. I don’t know what to do.
Hi group. I just picked up a OPPO UDP 203 which has 3 HDMI ports. One in and 2 out (one for audio only). BUT more importantly the unit has 7.1 Analogue audio RCA outs that APPARANTLY can be used simultaneously with the HDMI outs. My question is. Could I send the two left and Right RCA outs on the Oppo to my external Hypex Ncore 500s (which power two towers. while simultaneously sending the HDMI data to my TV which in turn is sent to my 7.1 ARC/sub/100 system and thereby adding a physical [pair of front left and right speakers that are truly playing only those respective channels? I am going to try it but I suspect the issue will be a Syncing one? Thoughts All?
Hi community,I’ve watched various videos but of course my set up, like most, is a little bit unique. I would welcome advice on where to place 2 x Era 100s for surround. I currently have LGC1 TV and Arc wall mounted.Typically both arm chairs and the sofa are all used when watching TV.Thanks for any input!
Okay, this one is perhaps a tad nutty but bare with me a second. I came across a Reddit post where they claim with streaming music in ‘Ambient’ mode (Surrounds), they hear different program material perceived on the rears but not happening on the front ‘stage’. Replies were - they are clearly nuts or yes, DSP is tweaking the surround image. I assumed Ambient was simply rolled off a bit where Full meant the rear volume was hotter. Both being mirrors of L/R channels. In ‘Full’ that’s exactly what it sounds like. But… in Ambient, things seem to change. Standing in the center of the room, I caught what he’s talking about. I hear seemingly panned rear reverb trails and isolated bits like stick taps on the high hat from the rears only. Sometimes backup vocals are heard rear, not present or are weaker in the front. At first I thought it may be different size enclosures, different tweeter responses, reflections or placement. But in Full or when TV audio plays in PCM 2.0, it sounds mirrored as
I currently have a Beam (gen 2), sub mini and 2 x SLs as my surround sound system. It also doubles up to play vinyl on occasion through an amp.I have a bit of money to upgrade but it will be step by step, so my query is really where will I notice the most difference? Should I upgrade my Beam to an Arc Ultra or the SLs to 2 Era 300s?thank you
Hi there,I am looking to buy a subwoofer for my sound system can anyone advise which one would be compatible please?Current system includes:-Beam (Gen 1)2 x Play:1Play 5 (Gen 2). Thanks in advance.
I have a Home Automation Inc (HAI) Hi-Fi2, 8 zone sound system that I am interested in replacing as it is working intermittently and the manufacturer has discontinued the product. Each zone corresponds to a room in the house with 2 speakers mounted in the ceiling and a small control panel. All the speakers/control panels are wired and run back to the main Hi-Fi2 control box. The main control box has numerous audio inputs allowing you to select (via the small control panel in each room) from multiple line-in sources (e.g. amplifier, iPhone, CD player, etc.) . My questions: Is there a Sonos product that could be used to replace the HAI Hi-Fi2 box, but still use the existing speakers? I’m assuming the Sonos App would replace the individual control panels. Would I still have the option to connect and select from multiple line-in sources? Is this a DIY installation or do I need a professional? (I am comfortable with computers, networks, hand/power tools and can follow instructions).A
Yesterday I was on the phone with Sonos support trying to figure out how to get the WIFI working on my Connect. It used to work? They were very patient and we tried many approaches. BTW, I had tried these approaches before I called them hoping for something different to try.I was resigned to recycling it but my husband decided to take it to another room and try the WiFi there. The WIFI connection worked in the other room and the MAC address showed up on our router! We brought it back to our living room and placed it in a different place and it was able to connect to the WiFi! So if your Connect WiFi is not working try moving it around. Beware of interference from other devices connected to WiFi!
When the new app was released, we were promised that all the missing features would return within a few months. But as we all know, it ended up taking much longer than that. In the middle of all the confusion, I asked Sonos directly if — and when — the volume button shortcut to the Equaliser would come back. I quickly got a reply saying it was just around the corner, and that it was now a priority since many users had contacted Sonos specifically about this missing shortcut. Well… it’s now been almost a year since I was told it was just around the corner. So I hope it’s okay for me to ask here: When can we realistically expect it to return?
After years of waiting, Spotify Lossless has finally been released!https://newsroom.spotify.com/2025-09-10/lossless-listening-arrives-on-spotify-premium-with-a-richer-more-detailed-listening-experience/“Lossless is available on mobile, desktop, and tablet, as well as on many devices that support Spotify Connect, including Sony, Bose, Samsung, Sennheiser, and more. Support for additional devices, including those from Sonos and Amazon, arrives next month.”
hi,as you can tell from the title, I do have an unusual house design where i can’t (and honestly don’t need) a full setup of a home theatre. However, I really want to have a good music focused setup where i can play music and enjoy it everywhere in my first floor (by the way, the house already exists and i can’t make any changes).so, I’ve been thinking of getting the arc ultra for the tv (shown in blue), and when i play the tv the other two speakers (shown in red) will be turned off cause there’s no point of hearing the tv around the house. i want them be grouped only when playing music though.main questions are: is the ultra arc too much for the living room area? is it too much for a floor like this to have ultra and two additional speakers like era 100 for music purposes only? is one enough? do era 100 speakers even sound good when ultra is playing? is ultra enough for the whole house? all these questions and me not knowing how to approach this is only because of the unusual house de
I have enabled lossless in my Spotify account on the desktop and my phone as well as installed the latest software update for Sonos from the S2 app. Does this mean lossless should be playing through the Play 3 left and right speakers I have in one room ( as well as the sub and playbar) and Play 1 left and right speakers in another ( as well as sub and playbar)? Spotify on the desktop connects to the speakers and does from my phone too via S2. It may be my perception but the sound certainly seems to have improved and I am hearing the music in a way that appears so much clearly defined and crisp than before. If lossless is not supported with my set up then the improvement is a figment of my imagination.
I live in a 2nd floor wood frame apartment. I’ve a Beam 2 and 2x Sono ONE Gen2. I like to replace the two ONE’s with a SUB. Can anybody recommend one? Doesn’t have to be brand new.
As a technician can I set up a Sonos amp using my Sonos app and profile or do I have to use the customers profile and app?hiw can I use my app to set up a customers system when the customer is not present?
I cannot listen to music with Sonos App as the source (e.g. Sonos Radio). Whenever I use Sonos Ace I only get to hear TV Audio. Why is that? It is connected to Bluetooth..
I have a Sonos 2 system. Version 17.2. Build 9006717. 1X Beam with 2x Play 3. Recently tried to map sonos to iMAC OS 12.7.6 music library for the first time and was unsuccessful. Sonos does not seem to recognize the music app file name which was:/MacintoshHD/Users/joestevens/Music/Recovered Music Library/iTunes MediaI changed this to: /MacintoshHD/Users/joestevens/Music/Music/MediaWhen I add the folder from NAS, Sonos setup window doesn't seem to recognize the name and the NEXT button is greyed out. There is a an option to “update music library now” in the MANAGE tab of the Sonos dashboard- but Im apprehensive about enabling that since there is little to no info as to what this means or the consequences. Ive confirmed the permissions are correct, File sharing and SMB are enabled and both are on the same WiFi network. I suspect this has something to do with the music file name?
Contemplating updating my old Connect to a Port in order to get Spotify Lossless. Will I be able to get lossless audio on Spotify directly from the Sonos app? I really don't want to have to use the Spotify app, which is what I have to do with the Wiim Ultra I'm using on another system.
My newer Samsung TV has a feature titled ‘Universal Remote’. Works great with the TV’s Bluetooth remote also having an IR transmitter that emulates many brand IR codes. The brand selected in the ‘Theater’ group drop-down list is Sonos. Mute and Vol. work great. The TV auto switches to optical on power-up seamlessly. Luv it! I have a desktop FLAC player with optical out. I remove the TOSlink cable from the TV and simply insert it into the player. Works great playing audio. But… when I connect the cable back to the TV (which is off the whole time) and power up the system, all remote and Optical TV settings drop to ‘TV Speaker’ having to reprogram all TV settings. This makes no sense why a cable change to a different device blows the TV’s programmed settings. I didn’t find a solution but have a theory the TV sleeps (not actually off) and detects when the cable loses light switching sources. It instantly defaults back to TV Speaker and doesn't retain the remote programming. Yep, a Do- Ove
