Yes, simple process.

Follow the prompts to add the Era 300s to your system, but keep them in separate rooms, do not stereo pair.

Remove the Play:3s as surrounds under Arc’s room settings, then select the option Add Surrounds to bond the Era 300s as surrounds.

Is there a reason I can’t use them as stereo pair if not I’d be better to keep using play3 or go to play5

The Era 300 can be used as a stereo pair, but you want to use them as surrounds with the Arc.

If you stereo pair the Era 300s during setup, the Add Surrounds process will not identify any compatible speakers as it is looks for 2 independent speakers, not a stereo pair.

Ear height on stands is usually best, carefully placed wall mounts will give sound acceptable to most folks.

Try both using temporary stands in both locations and let your ears decide.
