Arc viability in 2026? Android support?

I just bought a Sonos Arc refurb for a good price and it has not shipped yet...the Arc is a little bit "old" now haha. Anything I might be missing out on? I just use my TV with an nvidia Shield Pro and will use the Arc with the eARC port on my TV. Nothing too fancy in terms of use, just a PLEX library and some streaming services.

Also I see that only Apple iOS is supported for their room configurations. I do not use Apple products. Am I missing out much by not being able to set up the speakers and map the room so to speak with an iOS device?

I am using a 65” LG G5 OLED. Bedroom setup, I opted to not get the subwoofer.

Thanks :)

Buy a buddy with an Apple device a beer and run Trueplay using their phone. It only needs done once unless you add speakers or move them.

Trueplay on Android isn't practical as it must be programmed for each exact microphone used, Android has thousands.

How much difference it makes depends on your room, some really need it, others are fine without. Once setup it is easy to toggle on and off to test.

Thanks! I do not know anyone that I know off hand that uses an Apple phone. I think maybe one or two have an Apple tablet or laptop but that is all. There is one weird curvature on the left side of my bedroom otherwise its a square. That curvature might throw off the sound from the Arc a bit, I don’t know. As you suggest, I will try and track down an Apple user near me, I am sure I overlooked someone!

I’ve found ‘TruePlay’to be more of a marketing feature. If you’re capable of placing your speakers properly, in my opinion, you’ll get little benefit. It’s certainly not a requirement.

Android users shouldn’t feel ‘left out’.

I have many Apple devices but I’ve never used Trueplay on any of my many Sonos devices. No FOMO for me.

I’ve an Arc from 2024 and Sonos has been selling this product in its web till one or two months ago so, I don’t expect any end of support or obsolescence…

For me it’s a great device. I put a Sub since the beginning and later added a couple of Era 300 for surround. The whole setup is just amazing.

The only issue I’ve noticed is the mic switch malfunctioning which turned off it continuously and didn’t allow me to use the Sonos Voice Control. I set a different speaker in the same room as the main SVC one and everything working now. A pity to have this hardware (I think) problem, but very happy with the sound and overall performing.
