I listen to music occasionally ; thinking of ERA 100 to replace Gen 1 in my den. I have another Gen1 on my outdoor patio that will remain. Would I hear a difference?

Gen 1 what? In general, newer speakers tend to be ‘better’ than older speakers as designs continue to evolve. But it depends on placement, and your ears. Fortunately, Sonos offers a money back guarantee when you purchase directly, something not all other retailers offer. You could try one, and see if you hear an impact.

As said, gen 1 what, there are several Sonos devices with multiple generations.

Edit: checked your profile, it is a Play 5 gen 1, I'll look, some stuff up and post more.

(maybe not) If you have access to an Atmos source you might consider the 300, the sound is really amazing from a single speaker or a Paired set.

OK, your Play 5 gen 1s are only S1 software compatible.

Your Playbar and Sub should allow you to use S2 which newer Sonos use/require (see list above) but that leaves your other Play 5 gen one isolated on S1.

I wouldn't replace a Play 5 with a 100, I have both and the 100, while sounding great just doesn't have the ability to compete with the Play 5, Five or 300. Either a Five or 300, lean to a pair of 300s if yoj can get Atmos, otherwise the Five
