hi quick question as novice. Im buying a new tv and sound system for tv and audio for new open plan room. Being old i assumed i needed to provide an inset in the wall and provided a space 8cm deep big enough for 65 inch tv and sound bar. I was talking to richer sounds and realise the tv are only 11mm deep so thought as they had a deal on samsung 77 95 id put it over hole. they said i could put a sonos sound bar unnderneath resting on the inset. this would mean the sound bar stuck out 2cm from the tv. Richer sounds said this would be fine s speakers on the front. But reading install sonos says needs 100mm above bar, i would want to make this minimum i could as gap between two would show the inset and might look strange. Also they said if i bought the arc it could play the music for the room aswell, the room is approx 10m long 6m wide and tv just off middle of width wall. The other option is to go with tvs sound bar (free at moment with tv) and put in seperate eras for music, Any suggestions thoughts, what would i need as standalone music in large room or if arc would that be enough?

+8If I’ve understood well, the Arc will be placed below the TV and very close to it. In this case keep in mind that Arc bars have drivers playing upwards, so if you block the upper part you’ll miss the Atmos effects or a correct audio performing.
About the music in this room, it depends on your needs and the type of Arc. I assume you’re talking about the new Arc Ultra. In this case, I think it could perfectly handle music in a good way. I’ve the old Arc + Sub in a similar room and it sounds great, but I completed it with two Era 300 for surround experience. Arc Ultra is better performing low frequencies and spreading the sound through the room, so perhaps it’s enough for you.
thanks Richer seems to think as speakers at front and 2cm sticking out and only tv above work ok?? Or should i just get the free lg or samsung bar and put in 2 era 300 for sound??
While there are speakers on the front, as said above, there are also speakers on the top. Additionally there are side facing speakers that will not operate properly mounted in a hole.
Follow the mounting instructions in the Sonos Arc Ultra manual.
If you want non-TV music the 300s will work nicely, they won't integrate with the TV or other brand sound bar.
