How do I stop the "volume is fixed" error message on my Sony XBR-55X850D, run through a Playbase? I don't see a fixed/variable audio choice on the TV's menu. Relatedly, is it possible to show the Playbase's volume level on the TV, i.e., a volume bar just like normal? It kind of feels like I'm flying blind when changing the volume in the absence of that visual representation.

Any recommendations?

I got a LG OLED TV and currently have a Sonos PlayBar connected via an optical cable. It works great and the Sonos app shows I'm in the 5.1 mode. I realized that I have a connect amp that (not in use) and there are a couple of ceiling mounted speakers in a reasonably good location (rear of room, on either side of the listening area). I followed the setup instructions and the app shows it to be connected. I have not had a change to play any 5.1 enabled content, but the instructions say that the soundbar and the connect amp need to be connected to the router via Ethernet cable or connected to each other via an Ethernet cable. Is this really necessary?

I've set up a new playbar with my tv and disabled the volume is fixed message. However now I have a volume message which moves when I raise and lower the volume but it does not seem to correspond with the app. I think I saw a solution to this previously but cannot seem to find it. I'd appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction. My TV is a Sony KDL-55HX850. Thanks.

Hi all , I am new to this forum and have noticed a thread regaŕding FireTv having no sound with Sonos, irrespective of which audio setting I choose on FireTv I have no sound on Sonos, please advise.

my sound bar is not pairing with my samsung 9000 suhd tv remote. Any ideas on how to get it to work?

Any references to differences when listening to a stereo PCM feed into a Playbase vs. a 5.1 single, assuming no additional sub or surrounds? Not sure sweating the lack of DD 5.1 signal from my TV is worth it if not actually having the additional speakers available. I understand the Playbase will matrix a stereo signal into a simulated 5.1, but any feedback if using an actual DD 5.1 feed is sonically better in a playbase only environment?

Just curious if anyone had any recommendations for an entertainment center/TV stand to accommodate a Sonos Playbar + 50" flatscreen. Wall-mounting the flatscreen isn't an option for us unfortunately. We have something from Ikea now and the Playbar sits directly in front of the TV and just barely clears it so the Playbar isn't obstructing the TV. It's also pretty narrow which is a downside. Both barely fit on it. Not mandatory, but we have a little one who is just starting to stand and walk so something a little high from the ground would be ideal. Also not mandatory, but anything with cabinets would be a help too.

I am utterly confused and need advice of 5.1 playback on my Playbar. I bought a Playbar and hooked it up to my TV and realized when i checked the settings in the Sonos App it says Stereo. I do not plan on getting any other Sonos products for the TV. I have a TV that will not output 5.1. So here is my dilemma and I would be sincerely appreciative if someone could answer this for me! My set-up is very simple I have a ps4 and a directv box. Both have optical cable connections in the back. When i directly connect the play bar to either source it says I am getting Dolby Digital 5.1. However when I connect my playbar just to the TV using an optical cable it says stereo. So my question is there really a difference in sound quality ? I see people using optical/hdmi splitters to get 5.1 sound but if I do not plan on getting any other speakers and just plan on using the Playbar will it make a difference in sound quality thru the ps4/directv in stereo vs 5.1 ?

Hi I recently just replace my sub as it have some cosmetic defects. My current sub is still under warranty. I have drop a email to sonos support customer service and they told me to begin with a RMA request. Once the RMA is approved they will send a replacement unit. I asked sonos will I get a brand new sub n their answer is your replacement unit will be the same as your current unit. My question is is the replacement unit is a refurbished unit or is brand new? Hello I have just purchased a playbase. I already have an existing sonos system which i run from my iMac or iPhone, which comprises of 5 play3's spread around the house. I'm not using boost i am on a standard set up I have now added the playbase no problem and everything works fine when I'm playing music. However, when using it for tv ( Panasonic Viera TX L47ET5B ) I'm having a problem, Im grouping all my play3's with the playbase , and 1 or 2 of the speakers will have intermittent sound , not always the same ones. It also happens if i just group 2 of them to the playbase. Any ideas anyone. Im not that technical so nothing too complicated !!!! Thanks

My Samsung UN65HU9000F's stand has a slightly wider base than the playbase dimensions. The depth will not be an issue but in the front bottom corner will be off 1/5 inch. Also 5.5" behind the front of the base will have 1.32" hanging off each side. Without buying one and returning it, does anyone have experience where their TV stand is slightly too big in a few spots? I want it to look clean, especially with investment. Thanks, Travis

Hi, First time poster and a bit of a newb with technology, so forgive me if I can find the answer to my questions elsewhere (I have tried the magic of Google but I have been unsuccessful). If anyone could help me with the following I'd be grateful: 1) About to purchase the Sony KD65ZD9 and want to sit it on the Playbase, however, the Playbase weight limit is 35Kg and the TV weights 35.7Kg - whilst I appreciate this is higher, does anyone know if the 35Kg comes with a tolerance... I can't imagine that it will suddenly crack if the weight is slightly over 35Kg, but I'm worried about failure over time? 2) How can I check if the KD65ZD9 will connect to the Playbase - I would have thought there might be search bar on the Sonos website where you enter the model number and it tells you, but alas, I cannot find such a search bar? 3) Can I purchase a Playbase and 2x Play 1's and have 5.1 Surround Sound, or do I have to purchase the Sub? Hi everyone I have lurked for a bit and now I have a problem. Be grateful for any help you folks can provide. I have a typical problem but I can not figure out a solution. TV doesn't do DD 5.1 pass-through. Hi all, Just looking for a quick piece of advice. I have a 5.1 set up in my lounge and am wondering the best position to place my Sonos sub in. Most articles online seem to suggest that it doesn't matter where it is positioned, as long as at least one side isn't blocked, etc. I was considering either placing it beside the sofa that I sit on (however, I can still feel where the bass is coming from in this case, and so it feels "heavier" on one side than the other). I also considered putting it at the front of the room, next to the TV stand, but then wondered if I was missing out on some of the "feel" of the bass, as the room is quite large and theres a fair distance from sofa to sub? Would one side of the room in the middle be better? This set up is mainly used for watching movies etc. Thanks for any insight you can give, this is my first post on these forums.

I find the Sonos logo on the front of the Playbar unit to be downright irritating. Its going to be right in front of my face all the time that I am in the lounge room. There should be an option to remove the logo and replace with a blank plate Why do vendors always put banner ads on their equipment ? I paid to own it not advertise it.

Hi, I have been facing the following problem since many months now and none of the solutions seems to work. My set up is Playbar connected to LG smart TV via Optical cable, 2 Play 1s and a Sub. Tv is connected via Wifi, Sonos Playbar is hard wired to the router. The problem of sound not coming at all happens a lot of times but following are some of the instances I have noticed it over and over again. When starting a video on youtube app on tv, Also again when a new video starts Also while switching apps on tv like to Netflix I loose the sound. To get back the sound I go to Sonos app and select a song (while the video on tv is still playing with no sound) and the sound comes back. Please help to resolve this?

Planning on getting 2 play1 speakers for surround speakers for use with a playbar and LG OLED TV . Would play 3 or play 5 speakers offer any advantages?

I just set up the PLAYBAR, SUB and PLAY5 and it works great for music but can't get it to work on the TV settings. My TV is a Samsung Samsung Smart TV model UN75H6300AF. Gone through the audio settings on the TV but no changes that I have made seemed to work. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! :?

Hello guys & gals, After using Sonos for a couple of years now - and being very happy with it, I've recently decided to go for a full 'Sonos home theater setup' that consists of 2x PLAY: 1 and 1x Sonos: PLAYBAR. The installation proces went great, as expected, but I soon found out that my television (unfortunately) doesn't provide HDMI Pass-Through of any 'high end audio signal' - like Dolby Digital 5.1. So, I was stuck on 'stereo' and simulated surround, which sounds good, but isn't the reason why I bought this setup. (Only when I use the Netflix SmartTV application do I get DD 5.1). So, I am now looking for the best solution in my situation, and that situation is as followed. - Television: Samsung UE46F6500; - Blu-Ray Player: Samsung HT-F5200; - Decoder: Samsung SMT-C7140; - Chromecast 2.0; - Steam Link. The Blu-Ray player is connected to the TV via HDMI-ARC, and the other devices (decoder, Chromecast, Steam Link) via 'regular' HDMI. The TV is connected to the PLA

I have a Tivo Romio, LG OLED TV and Playbar that work great together. I recently swapped over to the Playbase, and ever since, I get a feedback popping noise whenever I switch channels, and sometimes the audio just goes away altogether. If I switch my Tivo to PCM from DD, the issue goes away. Is there a beta firmware I can test to see if this is corrected, or do I need to just return the playbase and go back to my playbar?

Curious what you'd do. Let's say you... - already have a 60" Samsung KS8000 with a more traditional 5.1 system (4 built in ceiling speakers, 1 center, and 1 sub) powered by an old receiver (2005 JVC RX-D302) - use all apple stuff already (iphones, apple TV, macbooks) - usual activities are watching tv... streaming, mirror, airplay music from your devices - want to keep the existing 5.1 system.. but don't mind trashing the receiver for something better - want to be able to incrementally add sound to other rooms as needed - ideally control everything from your phone without needing to interact with anything else (goal is to make it easy for grandparents to control/access) How would you go about getting started? I've researched Sonos connect, bridge, other receivers, but am thoroughly lost what my core first step should be. Thanks guys!
