Bought a sonos over a year ago as I was impressed with the sound quality. The selling point though was that it would have google asistant as i use alot of nest and google products.1 year later no sign of google assistant in ireland. UK USA Canada australia who are all english speaking have it. Other languages have also been rolled out. If I lived in Nothern Ireland which is part of UK could get Goolge assistant but not in the south of Ireland. Do not understand. Our accent is not that thick that google would not understand . Nest and other google assistant devices work in the south of ireland. So dissapointed should have invested money in a different product. WHY taking so long and no date in sight
Hi there, I’m getting quite frustrated by the amount of "Sorry, I don't know how to help with that yet" and other various apologies or no response from Google Assistant on my Sonos One (gen 1) when trying to play music via Spotify Premium. I’ve had the same setup (see bottom of this article) for almost 9 months and for the first 4-5 months this was pretty fluid and worked well, but it seems to have got progressively worse, and often ends at me yelling at Google. I haven’t changed anything in the system setup detailed further down. I used to be able to easily say “OK Google, play The Eagles” or whatever song / album / artist and the only issues I would have were with my accent / variations of artists etc. But now it seems really difficult for Google Assistant to know I even have Spotify. I have to try a huge myriad of sentences, some as long as “OK Google, play The Eagles on Spotify on my Sonos Lounge System”, all of which there is no rhyme or rhythm. Once I do eventually get Spotify go
I’m trying to set my Google Mini to “Listen Only” so that all commands are played through my Sonos One speakers, effectively making the Google Mini a microphone only. For example: When I say “Hey Google, set alarm for 6:30AM to NPR” - the Google Mini takes the alarm instead of the Sonos speakers. Any advice? Thanks
The title somewhat explains the issue, but here's the current set up: Sonos Beam is mounted to TV that's right behind my Google Home Hub. Anytime I talk to the Home Hub, my Sonos Beam volume drops to zero. I once had my Sonos linked when the TV it was connected to was in a room separate from the Hub. I've unlinked from both the Sonos app and Google Home app. It still drops the sound when I talk to the Hub. My wife claims it has done it randomly but I've yet to experience that, only when someone talks to Google Assistant or activates it, inadvertently. Any suggestions?
I recently replace my Google home mini with a gen 2 sonos one. I use this speaker for 90% Spotify and radio which works perfectly. The problem is with everything else, when I say "hey Google" during music playback it lowers the volume to listen but will not hear stop not matter where I stand or how load I'm shouting at it. What's the weather gives silence and other simple questions similarly receive no reply. I have too differently branded GA devices in my home that work faultlessly. I can see from a bit of googling this seems to be a sonos software issue, however I wonder if there is currently a fix. I would return the speaker now and get a different brand if something as simple as "hey Google stop" doesn't function. Thanks, Daniel.
I have Beam with Google Assistant as a Voice Service - it generally works fine I can play the Google Play Music Playlists I have generated myself both through the App and by Voice Command. I can only play Auto generated Google Play Music Playlists (.e.g Thumbs up or Recently Played) via the App - I cannot get the system to identify these Playlists via Voice Command. I can get other Google Smart Speakers to play these Auto generated Playlists by Voice - this seems to be something related to Sonos. Any ideas ?
Asking YouTube Music to play a song, and getting - "Sure Playing [...]" and then "Sorry I can't find what you asked for"
Just got the Sonos One, connected to Google Assistant with YouTube Music. Some music commands work well, but some I get “Sure Playing [song name]” and right after that “Sorry I can’t find what you asked for”. It doesn’t seems to be the connection with YouTube Music because some songs do work. Could it be that the Sonos see only a portion of the YouTube Music library? When I search for the song in the YouTube Music App, I see it, but when I search for it in the Sonos App (connected to same YouTube Music account), I cannot see it.
We are not able to enable both these voice assistants but are forced to choose. I'm sure I'm not the only one assuming Amazon, Google or both companies are actively preventing us from enabling both at the same time. I have however seen media reports that Sonos have publicly stated this is to enhance user experience. We'll probably never know the full reasons why this isn't currently possible. I've created this thread so that those of us wishing for both to be enabled can clearly state that our user experience would be enhanced by being given the option to enable both assistants on the same device at the same time.
Hi there,I have already programmed my Samsung remote to the playbar but i was wondering if the IR on the playbar can somehow be controlled using Google assistant just to turn the tv off and on? The only thing i can find on this is using the beam which uses its hdmi too control the tv. Many thanks for the advice as to whether this can be done or not. Cheers Rob
I have 2 x Sonos Ones Gen 2 configured in stereo. Sound quality is excellent. Response to Google Assistant commands however is terrible. I have other Google Assistant devices around my home which respond to commands first time everytime. Is there a known problem here which is being investigated? Maybe a software update in the very near future? Help please as is almost unusable.
I am constantly getting the “I can’t reach the internet right now” from Google Assistant (GA) running on both my Sonos One speakers. GA on my phone has no such issues and neither do three Google Home Minis in my home. The speakers themselves have Wifi connections because I can use the Sonos app to play musing on them with no issues. Suggestions? This is quite annoying. I bought two One’s in December 2017 only because of the promis of GA availability in the near future, then had to put up with the constant delays from Sonos to the point where I had forgotten all about this. A few weeks ago I realized that GA for Sonos is finally out and installed it, only to get these issues. Have no interest in Alexa, Amazon already knows way too much about me to give them yet more information.
I've just bought and set up a Sonos One with Google Assistant and every time I say 'Hey Google' my phone responds to the request as well as the Sonus! This is a pretty obvious problem that I assumed would have been sorted at an early stage in the software development. The response times with GA are also pretty slow compared to the phone's response. I really don't want to install Alexa and have yet another voice app on my phone but can someone tell me if it works in the same way and will keep coming up on my phone whenever it's within hearing distance? I could of course set my phone to not wake up when the screen is off but this would rather defeat the object of GA. Is this going to be fixed in a future software update?
Been trying to get this working for over a day with no success at the moment, things i’ve done: Removed all Music Services apart from Spotify (which is also set up on my GA) Here’s what happens - I try to add the GA from the add voice services section of the app, this then opens a web page that then redirects me to the app store for GA - I already have that installed and it just says open. When i manually open the app nothing happens - i can manually link Sonos in the GA app, which works, but the Sonos app then tells me i have an error. This is for 3 Sonos One (Gen 1) devices Any ideas?
I keep getting the message “looks like there aren’t any other speakers connected on your home network so I can’t broadcast your message.” I am able to group and play on my play one speakers with the the sonos app and I can also use Spotify direct control so I know they are on the network. I am also able to see the speakers in the google home app. Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this? From the home app I try to broadcast and it says broadcasting now but nothing is broadcasted. TIA -Tom
Hi I have a Beam hooked up to a Sony android TV and am using Google Assistant throughout the house (2 Ones in other rooms). I can turn the TV on and off, as well as changing the volume, but cannot get anything more advanced controls to work, such as playing Netflix via voice control through Google Assistant. Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so how do you need to set it up? I have another (non-smart) TV with a Chromecast, which you can control via Google Assistant so had hoped Android TV would be the same as Chromecast. Thanks in advance
Hi, I’m a newbie and have a Google Nest hub, but need better sound quality. I would prefer to change the default speaker in the hub to a Sonos but with which Sonos is this possible, only with the portable with bluetooth? A friend of mine had an old Sonos speaker but I didn't see it in the menu of the hub to automatically stream all music to it. Thanks Vince
