Google Assistant and Sonos

Hi,   Is it possible to group speakers through Google Assistant? For example saying “Hi Google, play x in the kitchen and the living room”. It doesn’t seem to work for me.

I have set up a Sonos surround system (Playbase + 2 Sonos Ones) with Google Assistant.  I would like the Google Assistant to respond out of the RIGHT Sonos One surround, but at this time I believe it is not possible. I have tested and tried every combination of setting up the speakers without success.  When the Sonos Ones are not paired as surrounds to the Playbase, it is simple to add GA to either of them.  When they are paired as surrounds, the assistant can only present in one of them--which is understandable as the system recognizes the three speakers as one unit.  The default speaker Google Assistant is added to is the LEFT Sonos surround.  There does not appear to be a way to change this. I originally thought it may be defaulting to a certain speaker due to a naming preference--like it a naming appearing first alphabetially.  This is not the case--I tried every combination of unpairing and renaming the devices and testing.  I thought perhaps it was a case of a pr

Will Sonos ever allow my Sonos Speakers to be added to my Google Home Speaker Group? I have my Sonos One speakers in my bedroom working with google assistant, and able to play my Spotify play lists through google assistant commands, and that is a huge improvement. However, I have all my other sound systems in the whole house working together through a google home speaker group I named “All Rooms” - EXCEPT SONOS. I cannot add them to my speaker groups in the Google Home app. If this is a marketing decision, I think it will backfire, since apparently the other companies are allowing it. I hope there is either a trick I am missing, or otherwise a software patch will correct it. Ideas?

Hi,Having an issue playing Spotify using google assistant on Sonos arc. Says Spotify premium isn’t set up on the Sonos app. The same Spotify account is set up in both Google assistant and Sonos app and I have tried several times removing both google assistant and Spotify and still says that the Spotify premium account is not set up on the Sonos app. I can use the sonos app to play music via Spotify and can use the Spotify app, works fine, but when using voice it doesn’t work. I can play Spotify via voice using any other speaker, just not Sonos.Any help would be appreciated.

we are trying to use google home to control a brand new sonos amp connected to a set of in ceiling sonos speakers, but the google home mini does not recognise any instructions for the device, any tips?

I’m thinking about buying a Sonos One to replace my google home. I would like to know if the Sonos One can accept the following voice commands seamlessly: "Hey Google, play What's Up by Miles Davis" (using Google Play Music) and "Hey Google, play Seventies on Seven on SiriusXM" (using SiriusXM)

Hi,2 things hopefully able to be fixed:Listening to sonos with higher volume on the day and then asking with Google Assistant later, e.g. switch the lights of. Is very annoying. As Sonos repeats with the last volume set very loud.Either a separate volume for voice assistant or a scheduled maximum volume set would be important.IFTT does not work as well because I can only set to a specific volume what could potentially increase the volume while watching TV.The second wish would be scheduled activation of the night mode.Thanks,Lukas

Question about multiple rooms all using Spotify streams. When a Spotify stream is started, starting a Spotify stream via the app in another room cuts off the first room. The reverse also happens, playing a stream via App cuts off all Google launched streams.Why? This doesn’t happen if both rooms are started via the app - parallel streams work fine. The Spotify account is a Family Premium Account. The devices are all Sonos (Play 1, Beam and One).

Since S2, I no longer seem to be able to say Play BBC Radion 2 in the office.  Google replies with “OK, BBC Radio 2 from TuneIn. Playing on Office” followed immediately by “Sorry, I can't find what you asked for”  If I say “Play some Queen in the office” I get “Playing the album Greatest Hits on Spotify…” and that works fine.  Playing Tunein from the app also works OK.

I was about to pull the trigger on about $12k to wire whole home audio, with Amps powering a bunch of in-wall/ceiling speakers + ARC/Sub combo in the family room. The idea was to have multiple zones in the house, but also create groups for multi-room audio controlled by Google Assistant. We’re an android house with Google Assistant powering our smart home ecosystem. Is there a way for me to get Google Assistant to play audio across multiple zones using voice control?   If not possible with Sonos, any idea on how to achieve this?

I’ve been having trouble with erratic responses from GA on Sonos for days, and now it’s completely broken! I eventually tried the last resort of unlinking and relinking my Sonos account to Google. Now I can’t activate Google Assistant on my Sonos speaker at all. Google sees the speaker just fine, and can play music to it. The Sonos app sees the speaker just fine, and can play music too it. But Google Assistant won’t link to it - Google Assistant just says that it couldn’t find the Sonos speaker, even though Google Home is playing music to it right now. Just as a test, I added Alexa instead. Installs quickly and works fine. The fault is between Sonos and Google. Returning to GA, I finally got it to find the Sonos speaker and install after about 25 tries. But it’s still not functional. It either gives no response or says “something went wrong/there was a glitch”. If I tell Google to resync devices, the Sonos speaker beeps and makes an announcement. But it quickly returns

Please help. I've been waiting for this, and now when Sonos controller tries to connect to Google Assistant, no devices are found. I have unplugged everything, restarted phone, tried several things and still not connecting to Google Assistant on my 2 Sonos Ones. What do I do? I have lost an hour and a half of my life on this! Ok and now I must have clicked some answered thing on this forum. This is not answered!! Fix this issue ASAP what a waste of time, Sonos!

Help! Google assistant works fine on my Sonos system for everything except music playback. Assistant music playback works fine on all other devices in the house, just not Sonos. Weather, general web enquiries all work fine, but here’s an example of the music problem: ”hey google, play Mumford and sons” ”Alright, playing Mumford and sons on YouTube music” ”sorry, I don’t know how to help with that”. or ”hey google, play bbc radio 4 on tunein radio” ”ok, playing BBC radio 4 on tunein” ”sorry, I don’t know how to help with that yet”. Already tried: Removing and re-adding assistant Removing and re-adding YouTube music powering off and on Sonos speakers powering off and on house router

Google Assistant sleep sounds now work on my Sonos.  However, whenever the sleep sounds are about to end (1 hour I believe is the default), Google Assistant shouts out “SORRY, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND” or something to that affect.  Obviously not good, I’m asleep by this time only to get woke back up!

I just got a Beam, and I'm enjoying it so far. The only annoying thing is that I can't get the Google assistant to handle a voice command to play music in all rooms. I have 3 other Sonos rooms, and when I say "Hey Google, play Miles Davis everywhere", she says she doesn't understand. And when I try "Hey Google, play Miles Davis in every room" she says "I can't do that yet. But I'm still learning" It seems like this would be a pretty basic command, given that the Sonos app shows 'Everywhere' as a default option in the Rooms menu. It's a little cumbersome to have to say "Hey Google, play ___ in the living room, and in the kitchen, and in the bedroom, and in the den, and in..." Has anyone else experienced this and found a better command? Or is this likely to become possible through a future update?

I have 2 Sonos ones and a Sonos beam all in different rooms. In general they all work beautifully. I was really looking forward to google assistant since I use this with various other devices. However I've run into a problem which is if my phone (Galaxy S8) in the same room as one of my Sonos devices, both the Sonos and my phone will respond to a hey Google command. I've searched all the various support forums and, surprisingly, I've yet to see this specific issue discussed. My devices are all up to date software - wise and I use the same email address for all my devices and phone. The devices are all found on google home as well. They do respond correctly to commands. The only issue is that both my phone and a device will respond if near to each other, which happens frequently since I tend to keep my phone nearby. How do I fix this? Thanks.

I have a Spotify family account with 5 separate logins, 1 for each family member and one for general house or guest use. I would like to set it so that when Sonos is controlled by Google Assistant, it uses the general house account instead of my personal account. The problem is that if I am not home, driving in my car, or home listening to headphones, and my kids use the Sonos system, whatever I'm listening to stops and it deletes my listening queue, then replaces it with what they are listening to, and if I start playing my device, it deletes what they are listening to. This defeats the purpose of having separate accounts to begin with. I've tried changing the account in the Sonos PC application but it keeps doing the same thing, as though the Google Assistant always defaults to my personal account no matter the Sonos settings. Please let me know how to fix this annoying problem. Thank you for any solutions!

Hi, There is any projected date for when the Google Assistant service will be available on Sonos in Portugal? 

I recently google for voice on my beam. When  i say a command like "play elton John", I get the reply " playing a playlist of elton John on Spotify" (which is what I would expect), followed by "sorry,   I don't understand". then nothing is played. There are no other people or sounds in the room when this happens. I have tried a few times with the same results. Any ideas?  

Hi Guys, Quick question regarding the google assistant.  I have a setup in the living room with 1 Google One, and 2 google One SL’s. They are all 3 combined in a group. When I want to change the volume using google assistant, it only changes the volume of the One that has the microphone. They other One SL’s stay at the same volume. What am I doing wrong? Hi there, I’m using my One to control Google Assistant and just got smart bulbs in the room, all *working* but the experience is far from great. The One will helpfully tell me that it’s turned on or off the lights... about 1 second after the lights have turned on/off. Google have resolved this issue when using Assistant through my phone, but the whole idea of the One was not needing my phone on me the whole time. (https://support.google.com/assistant/thread/890788?hl=en) Is there a setting or something I’ve missed to control this? The other part is please let us set the voice assistant response volume! I’m hoping we maybe see these changes in the S2 update already!?  

I’ve a Sonos Arc connected to Samsung TV Q95T via eArc. I was able to get Sonos Arc Google Assistant to turn on the TV, however, for turning off, it does not work. Please advise. Thank you.

I used to use TuneIn radio for my radio, but they have recently stopped doing BBC radio, so I needed a new provider. I found the Radioplayer did BBC radio, but whenever I ask google to play radio it still plays TuneIn. I have removed my TuneIn account from the Sonos app, but it still tries to use TuneIn. How do I stop it, and is there a voice command to get Sonos to use Radioplayer for radio? Whenever I say “Play 6 music on Radioplayer” google assistant opens Deezer.
