Why Ask If A Sonos Era Series Speaker Will Out-Perform A Play1 or Sonos One/SL?

Hello This is written not to discourage you from asking questions regarding Sonos speakers of any type. To the contrary it’s written to encourage you think about your question; then ask yourself if it’s one that will get an unbiased answer versus subjective opinions. Let’s begin... Since the release of the Sonos Era 300 and Era 100 series the question is asked “are they worth an upgrade from A Play:1, Sonos One/SL series and/or a Play:3 ( * )”. You might notice that I sequenced the first three in a row and left the Play:3 last. I did that purposely by design. The transition from the Play:1 to the One series was mostly cosmetic along with the introduction of the soft touch controls. Sound characteristics did not change to a degree that would warrant an upgrade. Most would need the ears of a canine to perceive a noticeable difference. 😊 Expansion of the internal memory in the Sonos One/SL (Gen2) for future software enhancements was the driver to seriously consider upgrading. which speakers are best for home theatre surround sound with playbar

I have a playbar and 2 move speakers that are connected separately. It’s a small rectangular den and the move speakers are in the back of the room behind the sofa, but they often drop the sound for a second but it happens repeatedly. I am looking to get 2 speakers that I can connect with the playbar for home theatre surround sound. (I also have a sub). Customer service told me that sonos 5, 1, 1SL, play 1, 3, 5 are compatible with the playbar. Which do you recommend?

Returning to Sonos - Sense Check

After a lengthy foray into Echo Speakers I’m returning to Sonos. Early set up is Beam Gen 2 in living room and 3 Era 100 (1 in Kitchen & 2 in dinning room), more will follow. Dining room doubles up as listening to music, light gaming and usually where drinks are consumed room. I need to be able to run TV, old CD player, old tape deck, Brennan B2 and Nintendo Switch. Would I be correct in thinking I can do this with a AV receiver using line out to Sonos adapter into one Era 100 and everything else fed through receiver. It seems to make sense in my head but wondering if I’m missing something obvious. I’m no audiophile so don't need ultimate anything - just access to above and Apple Music (subscription and library for ripped cd’s) and old tape collection. Thanks in advance.

Help for a new setup at home

Hi, I want some advice as I will be new on Sonos and sound systems. I just bought a big TV (OLED 77 G4) and I want to put a system for the TV. I’m thinkin on the ARC ULTRA + one sub + 2 rears. These are some of the doubts I do have: How worth it it is to move to Sub 4 instead of Sub Mini? How worth it it is to move from Era 100 to Era 300 as rears? Apart from that, I’m thinking on getting also a Move 2 for moving it around the rooms… Opinions on that device? And last but very important point… I want to get benefit of the sonos system with a turntable… so I’m doubting which is the best way to connect it to them… Options I’m thinking: Sonos Port + Any turntable A turntable with Bluetooth Are there others? Which one do you think is the best one? I’m new on this and any experience advice will be highly appreciated Thanks!!!

Cheap Amplifier for Sonos Port: Will These Work?

My brother has Sonos speakers throughout his home so staying in the Sonos ecosystem and using the app to control music throughout his home is important to him. One problem... He has outdoor pool speakers that are not Sonos brand. So, a few years ago I gave him my old Sonos PORT. He plugged that into an Audiovox amp and was able to use the Sonos app to control those pool speakers. The Audiovox amp is no longer working and we are trying to find a cheap solution to get his pool speakers back up and running. Looking on Amazon I came up with a few 300 watt amps that are dirt cheap in price but have mostly favorable reviews. All he would need to do is plug the PORT and his pool speakers into the amp. I want to order from Amazon as in most cases, I can get it next day and it’s easy to return if it doesn’t work out. Very large room setup

I have a customer who wants to install in a VERY large room….. Its a restaurant that is about 75 feet x 40 feet…. I was thinking of installing six either Fives, or ERA 300’s This will be in addition to multiple ERA 100’s spread around in other areas. This building is huge. Speakers would be mounted high close to the ceiling. The ceiling slopes from about 20 feet down to about 10 feet. I was thinking the six speakers would be laid out with 3 facing the other 3 towards the middle of the room… Would this provide good sound? Is it the right product? Any suggestions anyone has?

Reccomended Setup for Large Room with High Ceiling

I intend to replace my old Bose surround sound setup with a Sonos Arc Ultra, but I’m trying to understand if I need to buy rear speakers and/or bass unit. Sonos support seems to think the soundbar alone should be sufficient but I am skeptical. The room is 16’ x 20’ with a cathedral ceiling that is 13’ high at the peak. The 65” TV is in one corner and must stay there (or so my boss tells me), and the sound bar can be easily placed on the cabinet with the TV. Do I really need rear speakers and/or bass unit? Also there are three exposed beams in the room about 8’ above the floor so rear speakers could be mounted there BUT it’s somewhat a pain to do that as I’d have to run power up there. Help!!

Need assistance planning a new home layout

Hello I am looking for advise and recommendations on how best I can leverage my existing Sonos equipment in a new home. I currently have the following equipment 3x Sonos ONE 1x Playbar 1x Ray 1x Beam Gen2 1x AMP 18x Sonos MAG-6R I am trying to use these in a new apartment in the below layout and figure out what additional devices I may need to purchase. Couple of requirements Each room (BR) should be its own zone so that I can play music through the in-ceiling MAGs individually BR1 and LivingRoom need to have surround setup The Dining Room speakers should be such that they can be clubbed with the Living ceiling speakers for music streaming. When watching TV in the Living Room, only the ceiling speakers in the living room should be used. Based on my knowledge, I have tried to attempt the layout as shown in the image. Red indicates what I will need to purchase - which is what I’m trying to minimize :) My main area of confusion is the best way to setup the Living and Dining in such a way

Sonos for pilates & dance studio

Hi everyone! We are preparing for the opening of a new Pilates and Dance studio, which will consist of two rooms. The main room measures 7 x 8 sqm with a ceiling height of 4.8m, while the second room is similar in size but has a ceiling height of 2.5m. I believe that one or two pieces of Era 100 in each room should be sufficient. Does anyone have a different opinion or any advice to share? Thanks!

Speaker Recomendation for office/game room

I am redoing our office/game room and am upgrading the speakers. I have a dual monitor set up with a docking station with HDMI and 3.5mm connected to a MacBook Pro M2. I game and do some video editing and also just browse and wondering if Era 100 connected to docking station works or is there latency. Would it be be better off with a Beam?

best sound quality for patio

We are currently building a new home with a large outdoor patio leading onto our pool,My main audio system is very high end and we will be able to hear it when the doors are all open, But for times when they will be closed, I Would like to have some music of decent quality in the area, We have Sonos in our TV room and bedroom. So want to stay on brand. My choices would be 2 Sonance 8” in ceiling with amp, a pair of ERA 300s or a couple of Move 2,s So what would be the best for overall sound quality?

what to get with 25% sale (limitations make me unhappy)

An an existing owner (and shareholder!!) got the 25% sale offer. I really wanted to upgrade to an Arc Ultra but the discount doesn’t apply to it. I’m quite miffed at that. I’m happy with my existing setup except for the Beam. Why in the world would I be restricted to stuff I don’t want?? And any other recommendations to use the discount? I use Sonos for surround sound in my TV room.
