Recommended speaker configuration for a 6m x 6m fully insulated garage gym conversion

I am in the process of converting a 6 metre x 6 metre garage into a home gym. The floor/walls/roof are all being fully insulated and plaster boarded so audio should be similar to if it was in a room inside a house. I am looking for some guidance as to what Sonos products would be best to prove a good music listening environment whilst training. In my head i was hoping to just have 2 high level speakers on one of the walls about 5 metres apart - possibly Era 100s (and could add a floor sub at a later date), but I am worried they will not be powerful enough for the 36sqm space. I do currently have 2 Sonos fives connected to a record player in a 10sqm study so could move these into the gym and replace those with era 100s. I was hoping someone out there may have had to fill a similar size area and could offer some insight

The Fives should do the job for the gym.

Consider Era-300s for the office space, if you have Atmos available they are amazing.

The 100s do make a nice stereo pair, maybe with a mini-Sub if the 300s are too much?

Thank you for the reply, would you put the 2 fives in corners or would you set in slightly? I have seen differing opinions about this and whether to stereo pair or not.

Since the Fives have no rear porting for bass placing them in corners IMO would not make a significant improvement; if at all. I’d follow the traditional placement of speakers for a stereo pair which is 2 to 2.5 meters apart using the mid-point of a wall as the starting point. I’d also allow ½ to 1 meter spacing from the wall. The additional space behind and on either side of the Fives would provide adequate reflection to widen the sound stage.

You might consider a Sub4 for the room size. The Sub4 can be placed where it produces the best low-end which could be a corner.

For stereo, and considering the imaging sweet spot the above is good.

If you do a mono setup, for more even sound, then tucking the Fives into the corner and placing them vertically is going to see some, way less than even a mini-Sub, reinforcement of the low end. Not worth doing if you are going stereo as it would be counterproductive.

Thankyou both, it’s much appreciated. I will aim to set them in from each corner by ½ metre, which will give me 5 metres between. Adding a sub at a later date to improve the base sounds like a good idea if I feel it’s lacking.

Ha 😂…

I edited my original post to read as setting the speakers “2 to 2.5 meters” apart. Being in the US I failed to make the conversion from 6 feet to the approximate equivalent of 2 meters. Sorry for that 😵‍💫
