My home is prewired for a multi zone listening system with in wall and ceiling speakers. I want a very simple system to stream music and support a Bluetooth turntable. I’m budget conscious and want to build out in phases. Can Sonos work for this?

It can definitely work. If you are looking at Amps for your in wall speakers it wouldn’t IMO be the budget pick.

Are the speakers already installed?

If not you have the expense to purchase an Amp (or Amps) in addition to the speakers. The only way (or rather the most efficient way) to get a BT turntable to work with Sonos is to purchase 1 or 2 Sonos Era 100SL speakers.

Buget consicous is very subjective. As an example $1500 may be too expensive for some and not to others. Tell us of more about how you want to use in-wall and in-ceilings speakers and where. A diagram of the room layout would be helpful as well.

Hint: In-wall speakers are typically used with a TV as front or rear surrounds in a home theater setup.

In all honesty what you are asking may be better suited to consult a Professional Installer. However with more information we can start a conversation to get you on the right path.

Edit: How many of each speaker type…in-ceiling and in-wall?

Details of the speakers is also needed, to check that the amplifier is suitable to the speakers’ specifications.

Several Sonos Amps  ay be tne answer, might need impedance matching speaker selectors.

The new multi-channel Amp might be a good option but needs a professional installer.

More info will get you better suggestions.
