I have an Era 300 and a Roam Gen 1. The Era 300 doesn’t get used much any longer to its full capacity so am thinking of trading both in for a new Play.
I did once have a Move but was too powerful for our small-ish garden.
Any thoughts/comments welcome 😀
If it suits your needs, go for it. You know your needs far better than us. Not really sure quite what comments you expect.
That said, re your comment on the Move being too powerful: there is a volume control, so you can play it quieter.

Imho your thoughts are quite good. The Sonos Play closes the gap between Roam and Move. I use all of them and can confirm that Sonos Play has all benefits of the Move and its sound is very near to Sonos Move. Because of the limited dimensions the bass is a little bit less, but the sound is incredible and much better than Sonos Roam.
So if Move was a bit too much for you, I think Sonos Play will be the best choice.
Just speaking for myself I kept my Sonos Roam for the bathroom and take it with me when I’m on vacation. It’s perfect for a day at the pool. Sonos Play also could do this, but I prefer Roam because of its dimensions and being a lightweight.
At home Sonos Play is our standard carry around speaker. Move mostly stays on its charging ring and just leaves the room for outdoor party.
Portability of the Play for the garden alongside a decent powerful speaker to replace the Era 300 in the kitchen. I don’t think I need both current speakers 😀

I forgot one important advantage of Sonos Play. As it’s not a low cost speaker, I‘m very happy that you can replace the battery like with Sonos Move when it comes near to its end of life. That’s a big disadvantage of Sonos Roam.
The Play on an outlet-shelf in the kitchen would be nice. On a counter I'd add a splash cover.
Might consider keeping the 300, it is a great speaker, bedroom, office or other room.
The Roam is a great bathroom speaker.
Really worth looking at more Rooms/rooms with Sonos rather than selling them.

Like has been said you know your needs better than anyone in this community and you’ve also received some good advice. Just curious as to how you intend to “trade-in” the Era 300? Do you possibly mean “sell” the Era 300 or return it within the allowable return window either to Sonos or other place of purchase?
