Setup Recommendations + Discount Email

Hi, my family has a house filled with at least 15-20 sonos speakers in the ceiling, amps, connects, arc, etc.  I was surprised when we didn’t get a 25% offer email like everyone seems to be getting.

Any idea how we can get the 25% offer as I just moved out and now want to fit my house with a few thousand $ in speakers for an awesome gaming/movie setup.

I have a 20x20 family/media room in my new place, with one wall for the tv completely shelved (not sure if that’s good or bad for speakers).

Help me decide what speakers to get and where to put them?

From an aesthetics standpoint I was thinking arc ultra right under the TV, sub in the front corner of the room.  I am new to background speakers, but see people tend to have two. So thinking two era 100s or 300s on stands in the back corners (aesthetically better for us than right behind the couch).

I was hoping to get the sub era 3 open box and then use the 25% off to get the rest brand new.  Let me know if my thoughts are foolish before I pull the trigger and if you have suggestions! 😂

Thanks in advance.

For your first question, call Sonos. You may have marketing emails turned off on your account, or live in an area that the offer hasn’t yet been extended to. Sonos Sales can help you.

For your second question, surrounds must be pairs of (like) speakers, so you must have two for them to operate as surrounds. I use Era 300s on stands in my living room, they’re excellent across the board. Because I’m cheap, and don’t do critical watching in the bedroom, I use Era 100s wall mounted there.

Your sub placement depends on the acoustics of the room, and your ears. It may be fine where you intend it to be, or you may need to move it. Since it communicates with the soundbar via a WiFi signal, you can place it almost anywhere there is electricity. Don’t be afraid to temporarily use an extension cord and move it around to test the best placement.

I would also recommend checking to see if you have any upgrade credit.  On the Sonos website, click the account icon, login, and select the the Upgrade page..  Given your purchase history, you should have several 15%-30% off discounts available to you.  Note that these discounts apply to individual items (including packages/sets of speakers), not to everything in your cart.

Thanks! Do you have the 300s in the corners of your room, or right behind the couch?

I do! Though at 15% I would consider just getting refurb or open box with those huge discounts. 25% gets me close enough that I rather just grab brand new.

I have my 300s on either side, behind the couch. However, it works for my room and ears that way, much like the sub, you should check what works for you. And if you have an iOS device, use TruePlay every time you move them. It isn’t required, but can help sometimes.

Do you still have access to the old system? If you will no longer own the old units, at some point you should Factory Reset all of the units remaining in the old house, but if you can wait for a little while, a 25% discount may be offered and SONOS may want to verify that you have a system. Also, we’re nearing the end of a calendar quarter and SONOS may want to boost their numbers with a discount. However, with manufacturing and shipping costs being jerked around, it’s hard to know the optimum time for purchase.

300s aren't really meant for corners, they won't sound bad but you will be missing much of their potential, even more if you have access to Atmos music.

On your discount emails, as always check your spam folders. Signing up again could reset something in your ISP's mail filter or the Sonos sending machine. Sometimes if the ISP is being a pain setting up a gmail account is worth the effort, they rarely drop real mail messages, might tag as spam but you can fix that.

Calling, particularly to verify any possibility of the 30% upgrade credit is well, worth it.

Their system is only like 3-4 years old, so I didn’t see any 30% off unfortunately.  I called up Sonos, but was told the 25% off would not be granted. Sad face.😥

I was hoping you still had some 30% discount(s) from the Connects.

That’s the older ones right? They only have the newer ones unfortunately but thanks for trying!

That doesn’t, unfortunately, make any sense to me. The discount is derived from all old devices. Maybe double check your account at ww.sonos.com, look under ‘My Account’ at ‘System’. The discount status will be under the item, when available. It looks like this, sorta (can’t cut and paste everything, too lazy todo a screenshot and obliterate my PID)

Upgrade eligible

15% off Upgrade Offer

You may find more information here

Oh, just noticed after ‘System’ is an ‘Upgrade’ link, too ;)

I'm seeing 15% Upgrade offers but not the old 30% Trade Up offer. Scrolling gets you to so e 30% offers.

Sorry I didn’t clarify, that is what I see as well! @Stanley_4

I thought all Connects where in the 30% bucket?  I guess there was a cut off date somewhere in there.

I also wondering if some of the 15% off will eventually become 30% as they age.  Probably not.
