Controllers and Music services

My set up is really old. Play 1 and Play 3.  I also have unlimited prime music. It has driven me mad, why the music would drop on playing random   songs on amazon music. I am a bit techo dense, but finally found out the songs were streaming in ultra hd. But with the sonos app, the trouble songs just said HD. Hence the confusion. I know my speakers aren't compatible with Ultra HD. I went into the amazon app and set my quality there to SD, but it's made no difference.Has anyone manage to limit the streaming quality or is time for new speakers?. 

Hi,I am using the Android Sonos App version 80.16.32. If I am playing a podcast and I want to add another podcast to the end of the queue then it fails with the message “Unable to add to queue”. This works OK from the Sonos App on my iPad. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app but it doesn’t help. Can I do anything to fix this? Thanks  

Spotify recently introduced Spotify Basic Family. It has the same features as Premium, but without the use of e-books and it is cheaper. Does this Spotify Basic Family plan work with Sonos?

Reposting as a conversation since the question I asked was marked answered when it did not pertain to Android.I have searched and seen similar topics.  Most relate to Amazon Music.  I do not have any issues playing a Spotify playlist of more than 100 songs.  If I select a playlist in my Music Library, any of the ways to get music into the queue results in 100 songs.I have tried the workarounds to empty the queue, add one song and then select Play Next for the entire playlist.  That does not work.  Nor does any of the selections to add or play the playlist in the queue.  All result in an error and/or just the first 100 songs being added.I can scroll to the end of my playlist.  The only way to play a song outside of the top 100 is to only add that song to the playlist.  If I select any song beyond the top 100, it will play the 100th song.FWIW, I have my playlists in 2 formats, iTunes and m3u.  Both behave the same.  I get the same behavior on all devices.

I am reluctantly using the new app and have issues trying to control my tv sound system on the app. Every time I open the app the system is not recognised. So I have to switch the speakers off and then back on again - then it is recognised and I can control it.whats going on? It’s very frustrating.thanks 

Hello. I have set up my music library connecting it to a file, on my hardrive, with all my music and this has always worked, however, I have had to move my music to a different hardrive and now Sonos is picking up every single mp3-mp4 file on my hardrive (not just the files in my music folder). How can I fix this? Thanks

I have a Ray soundbar I use for TV and to stream music from Spotify. I prefer very much to use Spotify Connect from the app than the Sonos app, which is rather limited.I have set up Ray correctly, I can:Hear TV Stream from the Sonos app Stream from Spotify Stream from iPhone’s AirPlayBut after a while without using the speaker, Ray disappears from Spotify Connect, only sometimes it remains visible as an AirPlay destination (it remains available for the Sonos app though). The only way to get it visible in every system is to start over again from the Sonos app: Settings > Network > Manage networks > Update networks, as if the speaker was brand new.Is there a way to avoid that behavior? In another house I have a system with a One and a Play:1 that works consistently and it’s always available, that’s what I look forward to achieve...

Earlier topics show a Sonos power option to keep Sonos active and keep the PC from sleeping.  I don’t find that option under Settings>System>Power & battery.  Can this feature be downloaded from Sonos?

When using the Sonos App on iPhone 16 Pro, I have a longish Apple Music Playlist. Sonos will only play up to the letter “B” and that’s it…it doesn’t recognize the rest of the playlist. When I suspected that perhaps it needs to be “see” the selections in order to load everything I scrolled to the bottom and selected something else. Then it would only choose songs from a few letters worth of artists. Then the next time I went to play music from the same playlist, it went back to only playing A and B named artists. Is there some way to fully load the playlist permanently or to load it fully at each session?

I haven’t been using Sonos much after the May24 update, wiating for things to improve. Just uploaded my Mozart collection to the HD I keep my music library on, tho, so updated the library and started trying to play a few things. Disaster. Albums and playlists are now truncated and duplicated in random ways  - so a ten-track album might now appear as three albums, one with 2 tracks, one with 5 and one with 3 - or ten albums each with one track on. Same thing with playlists, which seem to be missing most of their original tracks. SO to play one album I need to play n album fragments. This is the case on both the PC version and the mobile app (Iphone).I’ve checked back to the itunes and music folders and all is untroubled there, so this seems to be another Sonos problem. I’d normally remove all the music folders from the library and then reload them, but that took three months to resolve last time I tried (last May). Anybody else got this problem, or an idea for a simpl

Libary no longer updates automatically, and the app freezes when I try and update the library manually.  FFS why is this such hot garbage. 

Last couple of weeks, grouped rooms with alarms no longer works. It’ll play to the room selected but despite grouped rooms checked in the alarm setting and rooms grouped and playing fine at the time I go to bed, now they won’t group when the alarm goes off. I can’t see anything recent as this as an issue and alarms had been working and stable for months and now this!   

On the iPad mini running iPados 18.3 we can do most functions normally. But when we look at the SiriusXM channels we see different (old) information in the channels listing and sometimes in the channel’s view. The now playing in the controller at the bottom is correct, but what is listed on the channel screen or in the channel list is often an older track- sometimes they even show three different songs. Usually we can back out of the list (or jump up one more level if we are elsewhere in the Sirius section) and it refreshes (but it’s not 100% consistent).We have readded Sirius to the Sonos app, and reset the Sonos app and readded it to our system at the request of Support agent on chat. Same behavior. This seems to be relatively new. Has anyone else seen this?Has anyone figured out a cause or solution?

Napster on Sonos not working 4/7/2025The problem that happens is that the Napster service does not show up in Sonos, even though I pay for it etc. When trying to add it back in through the "add a music service" function in Sonos settings, you can authorize the service ok but then when you go back to Sonos to actually use it, Sonos gives an error "unable to connect". The solution for me was to go into my Napster account outside of Sonos, go to account settings and edit account settings and there will be a field called "Screen name" (already filled in by Napster with some random name) and then another field called "Real name". The Real name field was blank, so I filled it in with my choice of a random name (I did not use spaces in the name cuz the "Screen name" field didn't either).  I then saved changes and then went back to Sonos and went through the process of adding a music service (Napster) and this time it asked for the name of the service (whi

With the addition of lossless via the app. I’ve started using the Sonos app once again for Apple Music but I’ve noticed that there seems to be an issue with how the stats are collected.  The total minutes seems fine but the stats breakdown is wrong. For example, I listened to 5,000 minutes which seems right based on my history, but my top played artist/song/album counts are wrong. I even did a conscious test where I exclusively listened to Fontaines DC via the Sonos app (what an album btw) and it didn’t come up at all in my replay stats which it should have.  is this a known issue anywhere? cheers 

Newer Sonos user. Working with a playbar with gen 2 sub. Works great for TV/Movies. I can stream audio from my Apple Music account fine.  BUT…  I also have about 30 GB of personal music I’ve digitized from my CDs over the years and built playlists for them. When I try to stream from my iPhones internal music library via the Apple Music most of the songs are greyed out. Library is mostly AAC with some MP3 formatting.  There doesn’t seem to be any pattern as to what will stream and what won’t. Even albums are mixed with some songs playable and some not which were certainly the same file type. 

I spend more time trying to get the sonos system to work than I do listening to the music. The app on my phone and desktop routinely fail to find any number of the devices on the system. When the device can be seen it will take an age to connect to and when it does finally connect it will show as playing but without actually outputting any music.This system is at work and we have an absolute mountain of speakers, lamps, ports and amps and not one of them is reliable. The system will ignore inputs and skip tracks at will and pause itself for no reason. If we weren't tens of thousands dollars deep into the sonos system I’d rip it all out and replace it all.If anyone else has a large system and has had similar issues I’d appreciate any fixes.  

Could someone from Sonos comment on the following:We would like to understand where our playlist data will reside under this new App design Are the playlist / favourites : retained solely on the Sonos devices and edited in situ & synched to all devices in our group? are Individual playlists created / copied to the cloud for editing etc and then synched back to the devices?  (Then removed from the cloud)  are all Playlists / Favourites replicated to the cloud, maintained in the cloud and then synched to all our devices? Some other combination ? Why the question ?   We want to understand what will happen to our playlists & favourites when we are offline (ISP Failure etc.) which happens from time to time. Will we still be able to create / edit / play the playlists without a connection to the cloud?(We know the new app doesn’t work offline at the moment but there have been announcements that

I cannot connect my system to 011.fm retro

I have a library of over 26,000 songs but realisticly listen to only 5,000 or so. I decided to load these songs on a NAS drive to remove Airplay from the streaming path. NAS drives are quite pricey ranging from $300-$600 or more DISKLESS. So add another couple of hundred to install a decent sized SSD.I tried connecting an excellent SK Hynix 1Tb USB drive to my router USB port but there is an outstanding problem with Sonos S2 processing music libraries from a USB connected drive. Ethernet drives work fine and don’t have this problem. I calculated I would need approx 250 Gb to store 5000 FLAC files but the investment was over $500. for a good, reliable NAS. After a lot of research I decided to invest in an Amber X drive. I have no interest in using this to manage photos and videos or use any of the other available applications. Just music streaming. It has a very small footprint with both Ethernet and USB ports. The drive size is approx 480gB and I loaded

I think it would be amazing if the app could store different settings for Music audio vs Theater audio, specifically the bass level.One of my favorite features about Sonos is that it can tell between just audio playback versus using my theater system and changes my settings on my play ones to rears automatically.In my case, one thing that I have found is that when the theater setting is on the bass is too loud for movies, but I prefer the bass to be louder during music 

Hi,My folder on my NAS contains 1000 songs. Selecting it to play loads it 64 times. The queue dialog shows that 64000 songs are loaded in the queue. Any help?Thanks.

Hi all,I often get the message that I cannot add a song to the queue. Steps to reproduce 1. Do a search for a song in your library (on my NAS)2. Try adding to the queue ( usually fails)3. Play the song, replacing the queue 4. Do steps 1 and 2.Rebooting the App doesn't help, rebooting my router doesn't hel.Any suggestions?

Hi,I have created a playlist with the Windows App, because the Android S2 App can't save the current queue. I see the playlist in S2 Android App and can start it. However, when I click on the button to see the songs in the playlist it shows up empty. This driving me crazy. Any clues on how to solve it?Cheers, A former Sonos enthousiast. 

Ok so playlist editing is back… sort of.  Unfortunately you can add songs, albums to a list or create a new list.  But you can no longer play that list😳 Before last weeks update I could see my playlists under Favourites, but now they have gone. Is there any testing done before releases and do those who do the testing actually know how to use the system?
