Controllers and Music services

My system connects to a NAS drive which holds my music library of maybe 2000 albums.  I’ve noticed in the past week or so (but could have been happening before) that the music library has now shrunk to maybe only 200 albums.  I have switched the NAS off and on.  I have re-indexed my music library manually (it is set up update every night anyway) and when i put a new album on the NAS and re-index it just isn’t seeing it at all.  Any ideas?

Hi there! I have been using Storytel for over 1,5 years in my Sonos S1 system. It has always worked perfectly. Since about 1,5 weeks, I cannot search nor browse Storytel content. I have tried to restart all my devices and also removed and readded my Storytel account. I can add it properly like before, but no content is available any more. All my other services like Spotify, SR (Swedish radio) and many others work perfectly fine. Logs here:1001481229There is nothing wrong with my Storytel account. Playback suddenly stopped today while I was watching exciting live sport.I use Play5 pair via line in only, I no longer use Sonos app or playback over wifi. But today, suddenly playback stopped. Dead. No issues with my network or sound source.  So I power cycle Play 5’s. No re-connection. Open app (that I haven’t used in weeks), it says nope, you need new app. App is basically bricked until I go to app store, update app. Since when did apps completely stop working as a way to force an update?Updated app, still nope. Now need new  speaker software. Loading…waiting… loading, finally done.Bad UX. What if I was in the middle of something important when you shut down the speakers you detect as not updated? Live streaming a funeral or something?I don’t even use the app, so are the Play5’s constantly calling home and telling you my speaker’s logs? “ALERT! ALERT! Play5’s found at this lat/long under this name and ID, OUT OF DATE! SHUT IT DOWN! SHUT IT DOWN NOW!!!

Please help someone, please!?I have been in IT for over 30 years and I have never seen an app like this. I have changed the wifi to a different router. so what is the problem?I would like to point my Sonos system (4 x SL + 1 x Sub) to the new wifi please.but when doing in to System → Network → pressing a greyed out “Manage Netowrks” the Android app tells me System update needed.   ( The app was on auto update but now I have switched off auto update, but it still does demand the update).Clicking Update, I get the message that there is an update and I have the option to press Update or Not now.So I press Not now as I want to do the WiFi configuration so I can update. make sense? or am I just stupid in thinking this is a logical way to go?What happens?  THE APP TAKES ME BACK TO THE MANAGE NETOWORK SCREEN!!!!!!Think quietly to myself “how interesting” again clicking Managen Networks, laughing at my stupidity of thinking that Not No

Just last night, I thought… Sonos has been stable for eight days. Unprecedented!Then today, it stopped playing Playlists. It would have trouble adding to the queue, and then when it did add, it would play 20 seconds of a song and skip forward.It would not update the music library.So I deleted the Library and tried re-adding.It gave me the above error message, so I added the IRPStackSize key as directed in the above message. (I did not have that in my registry, but remember everything was pretty close to OK for a week).I cut my Library folder down to just a few titles, and still get this message. I tried adding from my Android, and got the 900 error - which references back to “Server Stack”.It’s a 4 TB drive, and the total diskspace used is 178 GB.

Has anyone noticed that the SiriusXM “service” added to the Sonos app doesn’t have all of the channels that Sirius offers in it’s own app? Specifically I don’t see any of the several DEEP CUTS channels that Sirius offers. 

Diagnostic 1602233776All of my Spotify artwork accessed from Sonos Playlists are distorted, or pixelated. When I browse and search for the same album that same album artwork looks fine, then that album artwork on my Sonos Playlists fixes itself. It’s almost like the Spotify Album artwork cached itself using much smaller images. Then when I access those albums manually it corrects itself. I have thousands of Spotify songs on Sonos Playlists so searching for every one is not reasonable. I have rebooted all my Sonos speakers, reauthorized my Spotify account and even removed the Spotify account then re-added it, but nothing has worked. Please help. Any ideas?

Album artwork pixelates on Sonos App when I enable Shuffle on a Spotify playlist. This does not happen on a Apple Music playlist.Very odd. There are over 1400 songs on the playlist. Tested on 100 song Spotify playlist on Shuffle. Same pixelated problem happens. Help please…

The Sonos App does not get updated when I  update the playlist on my youtube music. I am not sure what is the issue ? At least the application should provide a provision to resync from the streaming service( at least I should be able to find it) . This is so frustrating.

Since the topic was closed, starting a new one. After a few other Sonos S1 updates I signed up this morning for another month of Amazon unlimited -- and weird problems immediately (upon signing up) returned. In mid-flight of playing a playlist I received the message below. Couple of other interesting observations:1. On my Ipad controller I can turn off compression of music -- did that (that option doesn’t seem to exist on my Windows 10 controller...). Seemed to help. Also on the Ipad controller but not the Windows controller is an option to Pair Airplay devices with the others; it was set as OFF, I turned it ON (I have one Airplay device).2. I now get sort of random messages like the one above, where in mid-flight the message pops up and the next song starts… Very strange. I now have many messages in the E

We have two homes with Sonos equipment.  The S2 update, as many of you have noted, has caused issues where we no longer have a functioning solution.  We think we understand what needs to happen.  We need to downgrade some components that accidently got upgraded and then make sure we have an S1 controller.  When we get into the app to start the process, we get in this endless loop of downgrading and then requests to upgrade. We can’t find the process after many attempts. Is there a step by step instruction of what to hit to get through  the process so that we have our system back? 

Hi , i’d like to know please when trueplay will be supported on ipad pro 12.9 5th gen latest iOS 15.6? I used my old ipad (no longer have) for trueplay setup on multiple Sonos products i own e.g. arc/playbar/subs/ones etc. just updated all to firmware 14.12 and now need to redo trueplay - the sonos app just confirmed that trueplay not supported and i’m now stuck. I would appreciate letting me know. I have already looked at the usual sonos help pages. thanks.

Like many other users it seems that when I choose to shuffle my large Amazon Music playlist I get a tiny percentage of tedious that state with numerals, a, or b.  I've seen responses that say to add your track to individual playlist, and then merge those playlists into one large playlist, but that is a horrible solution. You have to choose each track individually. I have thousands upon thousands of tracks in my library and that would take hours in the process would have to be repeated every time you add more music to your Amazon library.Is there a real solution forthcoming for this issue? It doesn't seem to be just Amazon music, every provider seems to be prevented from shuffling, the playlist and a reasonable way.I've yet to see a comment from Sonos that explains how they're going to resolve this issue and when. Is there any help out there?Thanks,-Shannon        

My playlist are all grey out. Tried everything to get them back , ideas please. 

Not all tracks in my PLEX music library appear when using the SONOS controller. It is like the SONOS app is stuck on an earlier (un-updated) version of library.  I have tried removing and re-adding PLEX with no result.  Some of the missing tracks have been initially drawn from TIDAL, but this does not appear to be a consistent explanation.The connection with the PLEX server can also be a very random affair, but that’s another story. 

Since updating the app I am no longer able to play Apple Music playlists through the Sonos App. Is anyone else having the same issue? I have removed Apple Music from the app and waited 10mins before reauthorising and still it’s not working. Is this an outage on Apple side or a problem with the recent Sonos app update?Thanks, 

Hi,A week ago I started to experience some strange behavior from Sonos volume control in the controller app. When I want to control the volume of one of the devices, occasionally that possibility is frozen/shaded and I cannot control the volume. If I increase or decrease the volume for the group, then the volume of the frozen device is also increased/decreased.I tried to remove the devices from the party mode and then connect them again, but then the volume of the Sonos device, to which I connect others, cannot be controlled (frozen/shaded).Anyone experience the same issue or had a same issue and managed to solve it? Willing to share the solution?I run the group of Sonos One (Gen 2) speakers and one Sonos Move.Thank you and best regards.   

Hello everyone in this community.I have uploaded several flac ripped discs to my iBroadcast account but when I play them from the SONOS app, it always gives me the message ['Song Name' could not be played, the song was not encoded correctly]. On the other hand, if I play those same Flac files from the iBroadcast application or I upload them to the Plex server that I have on my local network, then they reproduce without any problem.Anybody knows about this, I have to solve it because I still have some old speakers without airplay and I have no choice but to use the SONOS application with these speakers.

I recently had to change one of the drives on my NAS and ever since my Sonos app on my iPhone and Windows 11 laptop return access denied error messages when trying to run music from my iTunes library. Any ideas?

My Sonos 1 has been unstable since my internet modem has recently changed to a pure fibre wifi hub.  Very often I can’t access music folder, no Sonos Radio, cannot find Sonos 1 error.  I have unplugged hub, turned Sonos on/off, restarting computer each time one of these errors occurred. I have removed and added music folder a few times to get music folder worked until tonight I am seeing this error message “Sonos was unable to add the music folder. Connection is blocked by your computer firewall options.” I checked firewall and Sonos is in enabled to received incoming connections. Restarted computer [imac] a few times and the error persists. Has this got to do with the IP address since the new hub. Any solution or do I have to call tech support? 

There have been various messages about problems accessing music libraries on macOS Monterey. I had the same problem but have managed to get it working again.The problem on my system was linked to the way the library is indexed on macOS by a daemon that is installed by the macOS Sonos App when you use Preferences to setup a shared folder. The daemon in installed here /Library/Application Support/Sonos/SonosLibraryServer. The bug comes from the SonosLibraryServer not having permission to scan the disk. You need to add it using System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy(tab) → Full Disk Access.It's possible that a new install of the Sonos App will handle this correctly, but I already had Sonos App installed from a previous macOS version.After giving this permission, the music library is indexed as normal and can be played across the system. Hi @Corry P,I've just noticed that the issue discussed in the thread below has been solved. I don't know exactly when, as I was travelling these last weeks.But, the fix seems to have generated another bug:Now it's the opposite: when playing a non-Atmos song after an Atmos one, the volume becomes very much louder. If you pause this loud song and then resumes playing it, the volume returns to its normal level. Additionally, in general, all songs appear to play in a lower volume than before. When listening to my Play:1 in another room, I don't have any of these issues. When listening to sources other than Amazon Music, I also don't have any issues.My setup is a Beam Gen 2 with a pair of Symfonisk bookshelf speaker

After reading many similar complaints, I understood Sonos considers it is up to YT to fix the issue. I do not agree because I chose Sonos because it is YT compatible. If it is not compatible, Sonos is lying when they say they include the YouTube Service. For my part, most of my playlists have missing songs, and some even have all the songs unavailabe!I am very disappointed because the devices are very good, and the app is also nice. 

Hi, Is anyone else experiencing problems with PocketCasts this morning. It’s no longer browsing to the Podcasts linked to my account. Sonos Service status is showing that it should be working?

Hi,really annoying problem and I hope someone can help out… thanks in advance…I play music via an Alexa routine in my kitchen Play5 each morning some mornings I commute to London and want to listen to a podcast When I open my Spotify app (on the train) I see “kitchen” as the device and the current music playing there i want to leave that music playing but listen to a podcast on my phone how do I do that? if I select phone as the device then the music stops playing in the kitchen and plays on the phone. So my wife at home suddenly stops listening to music if I switch to the podcast first then that comes through the kitchen and when I switch devices to my phone I am fine but, again, no music in the kitchen i have a Spotify family account and Spotify on Sonos is using a different account to the one on my phone i never control Sonos from the Spotify app so happy to completely disco
