Sonos, you may think your updates are important but don’t disable my surround sound. Not only that but the update is not successfully updating, so this causes me to have to stop what I’m doing to troubleshoot. So, you forced an update on by disabling my surround sound and then the software doesn’t actually install. Wow. Next time, my advice is don’t do it again. 

Let me start by saying I’m old and not especially tech savvy, although I am able to get things done.  I purchased a new iMac and migrated all data. A few Playlists and some corresponding songs are missing in my Sonos library.  The Music Media folder location on Mac is:  /Macintosh HD/Users/name/Music/Music/Media. On Sonos it’s:  //IMAC/Music. I tried to use the Mac location in ADD SHARED MUSIC FOLDER, but couldn’t go on to NEXT - greyed out - only CANCEL as an option.  I’m afraid (read: old) to delete the //IMAC/Music location for fear I will still not be able to ADD new location.  Interestingly, I am able to use Sonos , even without matching folder locations. Any help and info would be great!  Just try not to use computer jargony terms.  Thanks so much!Sue

Have had this problem on and off for years now. It’s gotten REALLY bad lately. Have contacted support directly and they weren’t much help. I cannot connect to SiriusXM for days now. I also can randomly connect (yes, I said connect as it mostly won’t connect) to play YouTube Music as well. I’ve shut everything down (multiple times). Everything is upgraded. Only way I can get YT Music to play is by trying to start with a different speaker to add to a group. Most won’t play at all and I find one which will (sometimes). I am convinced it has to do with your horrible WiFi implementation. Why? Because all of my speakers except for one is connected via wire. I had WiFi disconnected but it obviously tries to do something and eventually fails. When I called support they made me re-enable WiFi (even though I’m not using it). No, it didn’t help.  

Why can’t my SONOS see my music Library on my external hard drive.  It sees  my music on my iMac desktop??  I add it and I see it listed when I go to folders but when I click it i get a dialogue box saying that there are no selections available.

Hi everyone,Since many of my albums are poorly categorized by Genre, I went in and manually changed them in Windows Music Player. But when I update the music library for Sonos, anything previously uploaded keeps the original genre name, regardless of what it shows in the player. It does this even if I re-import the entire library. Any idea why this happens and what I could try?

Started just after the last sonos app update. Now sonos can’t update my library index.Its a weird one because my playlists with music on my server are still visible and I can play them but my entire library is missing. It also doesn’t show the path to my server as being ‘stored’Anyone any ideas what to do before phone sonos?

I have a Roam and I use either my PC (Windows 11) or my phone (Android) to access it. I have my music on a WesternDigital MyBooklive (2TB) with the following path //mybooklive/public/music. It’s wired in to the router. For the first 9 months this all worked fine. I put the path details in the app, it indexed everything and all was good. Some months back it just stopped, saying that it can’t access the NAS. So I split the “music” folder thinking that it might be a size issue (despite only being 10,000 tracks) so that now I’ve got two locations with music. They are: //mybooklive/public/music (56gb)//mybooklive/public/roam (11gb) The Roam/S2 app can access the 11gb “roam” folder on the NAS no problem. But it can’t access the 56gn “music” folder. This suggests it isn’t an SMB issue. Following some research on here I’ve looked at everything using “MP3tag” and there were some entries that didn’t have ID3 tags, so I’ve deleted those and it all now looks good. This morning the SiriusXM alarms did not work.  When trying to browse the SiriusXM Canada channels it errors out with Sorry something went wrong please try again. I can get to a channel via Recently played. diagnostic # 1121686035 

I have been streaming Absolute Radio for years and two days ago it stopped streaming.The error message is: “Unable to browse music - there was a problem connecting to Absolute Radio” Can anyone confirm this or is it just me?

I am trying to link my Soundcloud account to Sonos (since there is no appleplay feature with Soundcloud). When I go to authorize the Sonos use, i get an error message: ‘the link code you entered is not valid’ How do I get a link code and/or why am I receiving this message?

Hi,I have a friend who hasn’t been able to re-index his Sonos system for 3 to 4 years. I believe his system  is pre the S1/S2 split but did re-index in about 2018.Of course the problem is he can’t upadate because the newer Sonos/iPad control point software needs his iPad to be updated which Apple have now stopped.He can’t afford a new iPad, how can I get him past this?I have a Sonos S1 system and an up to date iPad. If I connect my iPad to his network and then update his system (I presume I could) will that then prevent his ipad being able to play music at all?Thanks for any advice.Bob. 

I have swapped to an android and Sonos refuses to recognise my Apple music account. I get an "unable to browse music and. Constant reauthorise messages". This is infuriating, SoundCloud works fine. 

Hi I can’t find BBC sounds as a music service. Why is this, I’m in the UK

I receive this error message (“Music Library Problem”) every morning.As I have done nothing to my system, other than update the SONOS software, it can only be an issue with that update.I have several speakers dotted around the house and my music library which SONOS accesses is on my  2020 iMac, running 12.3.1 (Monterey)I read that it has been a topic for some time and there are many “try this”, “try that”.Is there a definitive fix from SONOS?Thank you

The key is setting up a well organized Folder Structure by genre, then perform a Folder and File permissions  applying inheritance on all. Linux/Unix is picky about permissions.Keep the update manageable.  For instance, I had to scale back from a single run of 45,000 songs to batch updates of 10,000 files per Update session, run back to back..My NAS is a small Xbox 2TB drive, reformatted into NTFS,  partitioned  into Music and Movies, with a total of four partitions and the last being a “blank”, free space, partition that can be used to reset the music library index.My NAS is plugged into a mesh  ASUS RT-AX58U router, which simplifies everything with their UI..

Hi, I am trying to add the following custom URL to sonos and stream but its not working.I can play using this URL on Chrome or in VLC player.As per VLC this MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a), 44.1Khz, 32 bits per sample.Is this stream not supported?Here is the URL - https://tamil.crabdance.com:8002/4

I appreciate all the tips others have posted for connecting Sonos to Synology NAS on a Mac. I went through the dreaded screens in Synology File Services to add SMB1 and NTMLv1, and then restarted my NAS. But that still did not let me add a music library. On my 3rd call to Sonos Support, the Agent had me go into Mac System preferences, Security and Privacy, and then add Sonos to Full Disk Access and to Accessibility. That did the trick.

Diagnostic Submission 1715958179 I recently came across the error ‘Music Files Not Available’ with the sub text:[Network Path] is no longer available. The device where the music files are stored maynot be powered on, or the path may have changed.Go to Settings > System > Music Library > Music Library Setup tocheck the pathI know the path is perfectly fine as I can browse the files via my computer and the files play if I select them via Apple Music. I have rebooted my router, Sonos Controller is up to date, I’ve turned file sharing off and on again, deleted the music library from the settings and added it again, number of tracks <15k.So I have tried all I can think of with no success. 

Hi All, Currently I’m managing about 6 or 7 sonos systems and they all have the same issue after the latest update.A lot of users use the spotify connect function that is in spotify to play music on the sonos systems. But since the last update this broke.I tested if it was the update by adding a speaker that was not yet updated which still had the feature. I updated that speaker after confirming it worked. And after update it bricked spotify connect again. Is there a solution? or is this a known issue? Kind regards, Chiel

Hello, it appears the Apple Music search issue has resurfaced? Or am I the only one having this issue?

The Sonos app on my Android Samsung Galaxy won’t play imported iTunes playlists unless the Sonos desktop application is open on my PC. This wasn’t a problem for a long time but started recently. The Sonos app will play all other sources except the imported playlists. If I open the desktop Sonos program and start a playlist using the app, I can close the desktop Sonos program and the app will continue to play music from the imported playlists. Once I close and open the Android app, it will no longer play from the imported playlists until I open the desktop application.Thanks for any ideas to fix this so I don’t have to open the desktop app in order for the Android app to use iTunes imported playlists.

SiriusXM Canada went offline completely a while ago today. App, web streaming and sonos. SiriusXM app and web streaming came back but Sonos app “unable to connect “ now.  D#1955638191 

Anyone else have this? I called Sonos and they said it’s Amazon’s issue. VERY annoying and it’s only with stations on Amazon Music Unlimited.. playlists and albums are ok.
