Controllers and Music services

I’d like to make a suggestion. Wouldn’t it be better setting up alarms for music to come on in rooms at certain times if you could tick boxes for the rooms you want it played in. This instead of the grouped rooms included button. Sometimes you have been playing music in say all the rooms, then the alarm/music will play in possibly every room. The this can be annoying some people living in the property and wake them up. You sometimes forget to alter it back before going to bed. Also the Sonos alarm chime can be very annoying when it come on instead of playing the radio/music you have set up for the alarm. These are issues I’ve not been happy about for a long time. Even before the the problems with the new app. 

hello I am back again, moire issues with app,YAY love to speakers hate the app such a shame. well its nice now that i can access my local music library again thanks (that was a joke) whats up with sonos playlist on the phone app?on the desk top version i can create a playlist and add songs to the playlist but can not on the phone app. example only “sonos favorites” is visible on home screen no favorites, i don not see a way to create a playlist nor do i see any playlist. I can create playlist and add songs to those playlist on desktop only. in my lengthy dive into the community lots of others having same issue only fix ive seen is to use a different  app “sonoPhone” really????? thanks sonos.am i missing an actual solution? 

Hi, I have found the new Sonos iOS App (80.00.08) returns a “No results” message for all YouTube Music searches. This same account worked fine in the pervious generation of iOS app and continues to work on the latest MacOS app (16.2). I have tried removing and re-authorizing the YouTube Music service and restarting all the equipment with no luck, and now suspect this is broken. Has anyone else had this problem?Are there any fixes?When will this get fixed? Thanks,Graham

I’ve struggled with the Sonos App since the May 2024 update, in particular the volume control and overall slow performance.Today I downloaded the Sonophone app from the Apple App Store.  It costs £3 (three pounds sterling).It’s excellent and my 6 Sonos speakers are now usable again.

Why is Sonos only playing on the first like 30 seconds of the song and then skipping to another song?

Have read a lot of info on here over past months re; this utter disaster of a roll out...must say, what a complete *-show from Sonos. I am still able to use (& enjoy) my Sonos speakers for now, as I haven’t yet upgraded the android app to the new version, but expect at some point I’ll need to. Currently using an old WD MyCloud (NAS) which uses SMB v1, and according to WD, it’s doesn’t support SMB v2/v3.So, in short, my question is this:Once/if this new version of the app ever gets fixed, and what may be referred to as ‘normal Sonos functionality’ returns, is it the case that I will need to go out and spend more money to replace my current NAS with a new one which supports SMB 2/3, in order to play my music from my music-library on my Sonos speakers?Thanks for reading. 👍*Moderator Note: Modified in accordance with the Community Code of Conduct.*

It appears that there is huge mass of us that are extremely disappointed and frustrated with this new app. Not sure if it matters or if anyone is looking, but adding my voice to the long line in hopes that Sonos will revert back to the former app. This new app is over-designed, dysfunctional and removed functionality. How on earth did this get approved to launch?! PLEASE Sonos team, admit you made a mistake, revert back to the old app so you can perfect whatever it is you were trying to achieve with this update. 

My favourite stations will not play. In particular stations from other countries. No error message or anything suggesting of an issue come up. I can listen to some stations but only local ones, within the same country. Is there a geographical limit? 

Well, having previously posted that I’d managed to get a reasonably stable Sonos system 80% of the time since the infamous App upgrade largely due to overhauling our WiFi, that figure took a dramatic downward revision yesterday morning. On launching the Sonos App for some morning music, one speaker of a stereo pair immediately lost connection and 5 hours of repeated factory resets or ethernet cable connections failed to get it to rejoin, just endless ‘lost connection’ error messages during setup. Only solution has been to move another speaker to form the pair, as this was a set where a stereo pair really mattered and I now have one useless Sonos One (Gen 1). In the process of sorting all this, the Sonos App also suddenly lost all of the Apple Music Playlists I had pinned, just to rub its appalling instability in.I’ve now got to the point where I’ve decided not to launch the Sonos App at all and simply stick to Airplay and the Apple Music or Apple Music Classical App. At least that way,

I have three speakers in my system (roam is not on). They all show up to select. If I start music on one of them and then try and add the second, it keeps saying unable to connect. See screenshots. It is playing on the Sonos Move. When I check TV Room and apply, I get the unable to connect at the top of the next picture.   I can play different music on each speaker.  I’ve unplugged/powered down the speakers and reset my router and still nothing.  

With the new app, I can’t access my music at all. According to the Sonos support pages, you add your music library by going to “Manage” and then “Music Library Settings”. But in my app, there is no Music Library Settings on that page, only Content Services.I called Sonos support, and they told me that some people are missing that setting, and this is something they’re working on (and they couldn’t say how long that would take). But the lady I talked to didn’t really seem to know what she was talking about. I haven’t found anybody else reporting this problem. Everybody is talking about all the missing features, but nobody mentions not even being able to access your music through the app. Is somebody else experiencing this?

 Why are options like Replace Queue etc. missing from the Play menu.  This was accessing an Apple Music playlist by holding down on it to bring up the context menu. 

  I am running Windows 10 and the music is all digital on both my C drive and the Cloud.  After the update, now Sonos can no longer see/read my Apple Music Library.  My whole system is now basically useless.  I can bluetooth to my Move but … really?  if that’s all i want to do I don’t need Sonos.This worked fine until the update.  No warnings.  Nothing.  Just no longer works.

Despite downgrading to the 16.1 app on my main Android phone so I have something that works, I am keeping the new app on another Android phone and Android tablet so that I can be aware of updates and hopefully, fixes. I have a large music library on a Synology NAS, with several thousand MP3s with embedded album art.From the start, the new app has sporadically not shown the music library in my sources. When it does, I can play music, but the album art will not display for the current song, or any songs in the queue view. Even when the music library is not shown in the new app, when I start music from the 16.1 or Windows app, it will show as being played in the new app, but will still not display the album art.I’ve spent a LOT of time curating my MP3s and embedding 600x600px album art into each, so this is a real deal breaker for me. Is anyone else seeing this in the new app, and is there anything that can be done? The album art displays properly as expected in the 16.1 and Windows apps.

Is there a way using the sonos app that I can connect my phone as a service so I can listen to music stored on my phone

Hi, I have a problem with live internet radio. I had two favourite radio stations I used to listen every day and suddenly they both stopped working. It says 'something went wrong' when I am trying to connect to them. I have uninstalled Sonos app from my android phone and installed again but nothing changed. Switched all speakers and WiFi to rebut but still nothing. 

By much floundering around on support threads, I’ve found out what an SMBv1 is, and discovered that’s what my PC running Windows 10 is using. That appears to be why I’m one of the many whose PC-stored Music Library has disappeared from Sonos, which as we all know discontinued support for SMBv1.I’ve wasted two hours between Sonos chat and phone support trying in vain to get my music folder shared again with Sonos.  So I’m wondering if I upgrade from Windows 10 to 11, will I then be running the SMBv2 necessary to work with Sonos again? In other words, does Windows 11 run with SMBv2 by default? Thanks to anyone who can help.

I am thinking of purchasing Sonos surround sound system (ARC, sub, 2 extra speakers).  I want to access my music from my Buffalo Linkstation NAS.  I see that this is one of many problems due to the app update.Is this still an issue? Should I wait to purchase or buy now? 

I’ve been able to add my music library to my Windows 10 Desktop using the NAS device option.  I have a Windows 10 Laptop I use for a different Sonos system in a different location. I have the music library physically on both devices, with the folder sharing settings the same. When I try to add the music library to the laptop system I get the “Folder access denied” message.  When I transferred the music library to a flash drive I was able to add it to the Laptop system without a problem.  Any ideas why? Don’t want to have to leave a flash drive connected all the time.

I’m on a Mac, running Sonos Controller for Mac 16.2 / S2, Build 79153290.When Sonos released their new app, I lost the ability to connect to my 12 year old NAS that only has SMB1 support. I purchased a Buffalo Link Station (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JKM0A36?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1) which out of the box is configured to “Switch Between SMB2 and SMB1 automatically”. I uploaded a few songs to it just to test out, then pointed Sonos at the NAS drive share point, let it index, and I was able to play those songs. I then transferred the whole library there, about 70 GB, and Sonos said it couldn’t read it: “’//LS210D38C/share/Music’ is no longer available. The device where the music files are stored may not be powered on, or the path may have changed. Go to Settings > System > Music Library > Music Library Setup to check the path.” Since then I’ve trie removing the share point, changing the SMB protocol to SMB2 only, but no dice. I’ve invested thousands of pounds in my music collection I can no longer access it from my NAS. Why is this?

So, it has been months since the upgrades, but with several mini updates. I am still having problems with sonos app and just want to check if this is common to others.App remains laggy.Volume controls are haphazard....master volume control does not work as expected...I have to use the manual controls on each speaker to get to the desired volume. Almost everytime i switch apps and go back to Sonos, it does not find the connected system and often takes as long as 3 minutes before it 'finds' the system and reconnects.These just makes the system unusable. I have 12 or so speakers and have been using sonos for over 15 years yet, this last few months have been my worst experience with the sonos.It is almost unusable....Defo not buying any more and seriously considering selling these and moving to something else.

After the IOS version 80.05.04 was updated, any text box in Sonos App can only be entered through Japanese or English and could not be changed into Simplified Chinese which I could use previously, any solutions? Thanks!

I have 2 x Play1 and a sub in top system.And my playbar is in bottom system.How do i combine the 2 systems into one, or delete one of them, maybe playbar and reset and add it again. I have one system in one home on one network on a single router.This happened on this weeks system update..
