Controllers and Music services

Hello, after updating to the new crazy broken, worse and I couldn't even imagine this new nightmare update with constant bugs app, can't add my sonos sub. The sonos sub can't no longer added to the new app. I tried to change the ownership that doesn't work.I tried to uninstall install again the app close and open like to communicate guiding me what should I do unfortunately this isn't helping either.Every experience now with sonos is a nightmare.Anyone know how to deal with those new bugs ?

I can no longer play radio stations from around the world using the My Tuner Radio on my Sonos speakers. As this was one of the main reasons for buying Sonos I’m not very happy. Has anyone  had the same issue, is there a solution, does Sonos know etc. if it cant be fixed I will be selling my Sonos and going with another system. 

Hello,I’ve read through many posts on this topic but surprisingly haven’t found any answers to my specific questions. I have a Windows 11 desktop computer with an iTunes library of ~40,000 songs - all ripped from my CDs.Here are some key locations/paths in my system:Windows Music folder: C:\Users\deanm\MusicLocation of iTunes Music Database: C:\Users\deanm\Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itlLocation of iTunes XML: C:\Users\deanm\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music Library.xmlLocation of actual music files: M:\Music (this is a second HDD on my desktop computer)When setting up the Sonos controller app in Windows, I’m asked to add my music folders on Sonos. Which of the above locations should I add, so that I get my music and my imported iTunes playlists? Would it be the location of my actual music files (M:\Music), the location of my Windows Music folder or the path to my iTunes files?Please be specific as I’m new to Sonos.Thanks,Dean

Hi,I have looked on the community and on the web but can’t find anything recent on this. I have old Sonos gear running on the S1 app - all fine.I recently bought a Roam SL and have a separate system with only the Roam on it run on the S2 app. I have added our Synology Diskstation music library - no problem.However, I can’t seem to find BBC Sounds or Qobuz (Idagio is fine). What am I doing wrong / can anyone help?  Or is this a function of the new app that seems to have broken a lot of functionality? thanksRichard

Since the new app was introduced, I for once finding it so difficult to play music on Sonos. It will play half way and then it just dropped or stopped. The speakers also disappeared, and the airplay to Sonos worked for a bit and then stopped.  I thought the new app will be user friendly and an upgrade should give the user a controller that you can use easily not spending lots of time trying to find where the speakers are..  I love Sonos and have had it in the last 12 years, and I am for once considering switching to other brand if the app is sh*t.I have never voiced any concern in the past, and the Sonos Team needs to up the game before losing a loyal customer    

Hi, I recognize all the UI and feature complaints, also some of the new limitations imposed… and I can understand the uproar; but is the app as a controller and portal to the system just base functionally unuseable and unstable?  I’m having so many problems, and I can’t seem to see community concerns around simple functionality being crap too.   if it’s a yes, sadly, I’ll have to look into an alternative control software, and that sounds almost worse.  Please don’t troll me, I love my Sonos system, but I want to hurl it out a window lately.. thanks. 

I’ve been a Sonos customer for over more than 4 years now.Since last week, an error has appeared when trying to play Youtube Music songs. From iOS: I get immediately the announcement “Can’t decode codec”From Android: when playing an album, the first song usually plays. Starting from the second song of the album, the “can’t decode codec” error appears. 

I have an own Sonos system but when I try to connect to a friends Sonos system it can not find any system.In earlier version of the app this worked.My friends wireless network have the same namn.How I connect to my friends Sonos system?

All my content services have been removed (same on multiple iphones). The system will now not let me add any content services (so it pretty useless). I’ve rebooted, as well as signed out but it makes no difference. It just says unable to load content. I can play directly to the speakers from Spotify, but throught the Sonos app nothing works.

The Libby program will NOT start at the same point of the book.  The old APP did do this If I listen to a Libby book on JUST my phone for 1 hour and pause.  Then I move to the new Sonos APP, and choose the Libby Book - the book starts over. The Sonos Controller for PC version 16.2 STILL works correctly.  The prior Sonos APP did work as well.  The new APP does NOT work.

I have always loved Sonos and been using it for a decade now but the new app comes close to reducing me to tears. Does anyone know if there is a way to change it back to how it was, without having to go back to the original S1 please?  The rooms ‘apply’ function is a nightmare! I just cannot seem to get to grips with it.  I have sadly never seen such a regressive upgrade! Please please please, Sonos developers, do something to fix it! 

Its more of a statement than a conversation but i would welcome any input if i havent quite worked the system out since the update.I swapped from Bose to see what all the hype was about but soon realised i had a little more control with my Bose and the sound was on par in my opinion.I use Android and could bluetooth my phone Which contains a great music library from way back when..... no age jokes... haha.All i would like is to have nothing on my home page other than what i choose ie my favorites in the order i want them instead of what sonos think i should see.The option to put on it what you want should be standard, if this is possible and i havent quite got to grips with the system yet i would love to know.

It is not getting any better.The new app instead of improving as promised now it is in fact getting worse.We lost access to the system, the system states always shows up as unconnected, we try to update the network and nothing happens.We have now a set of speakers that we relied on and were part of our routine that do not do the basic function, playing music .So disappointing, how can an app upgrade go so wrong.

I bought a full sonos system about 4 years ago and my god, it was awesome. Within minutes I had a great sound system working, fully controlled by my phone. Amazing! Since then, every time I get an update something breaks. What used to be easy to do years ago is now painfully hard.  I recommended sonos to my girl friend this year based on my experience, but she has yet to get her system working weeks after buying the product.  I tried to play music tonight and after 20 minutes, have had no success at even hearing anything.  Why would a company that offered such an awesome product go and mess it up? Is there an option to pay real money to get sonos to just stop updating their app? Seriously. Doing nothing would be much better than what they're doing.  What is wrong with this company and why can't they get this right? Kevin

I don’t know what you are experiencing, but from my point of view, Sonos took a perfectly good working app and screwed it all up.The new Sonos app almost makes my system unusable.   It rarely identifies all my speakers, rarely connects to the speakers I want it to, and, when I try to control the volume it is almost completely ineffective.Being a tech person, I know these are software glitches that can be easily fixed with some resources and effort but Sonos does not seem to want to do that.  Unless it is fixed, in a year or so when I choose upgrade my system, Sonos will not be on my list of options.

I am unable to add new content services. Trying to add BBC Sounds, Spotify and Amazon Music. In each case, I get redirected from the Sonos app to the provider to authorise the connection and am told that the service has been added successfully. But when I return to the Sonos app I get an error message saying the service has not been added.I am using the Sonos app on Android and have 2 Era300s in a stereo pair and a Play3  

When we try to open the new & improved (LOL) Sonos app it doesn't recognize the existing network, we have to clear the Sonos app and then try and open the app again, hopefully it will work, if not repeat the process  

This business of trying to blame everything that’s not working with your Sonos on the S2 App refresh is getting out of hand. Missing features are a legitimate concern and should be brought to the attention of Sonos. However, there are other areas being thrown into the fray that are not warranted. Here are three (3) examples:1.     If the app is loading slow IT’S YOUR NETWORK AND/OR YOUR DEVICE.2.     If speakers are missing IT’S YOUR NETWORK AND/OR YOUR DEVICE.   3.     Interruptions with a streaming service is not and app issue (although Sonos may have to collaborate with the partner/provider as they post when they are down) it’s most likely a SERVER CONNECTION FAILURE.Interesting fact on #3. I had the pleasure to assist a member who all of a sudden couldn’t see their Spotify service on all devices. As I suggested (and they later realized) they had exceeded the number of registered devices for their account. It wasn’t an app issue!Bottomline…stick to what has actually been identified

Got a really annoying bug here. My setup is a few Sonos speakers round the home. Spotify family plan with Alexa to play. The Sonos account is set to my kids account so they can use Alexa without polluting my recommendations. I have always used Spotify to play music as then the account for Alexa stays on the kids account. One of my favourite play lists is release radar but it is now not playing correctly. It will play the first song and then the second song appears to be like it is on shuffle on the play list then maybe three more songs as if on shuffle and then it's off into the recommendation wilderness playing songs not on the playlist. It's really annoying me and 50% of my Sonos listening is this and it doesn't work. If I go on the Sonos (cr)app, change to me and play release radar it works but I will get kid pollution then. Other playlists including discovery weekly seem to work  I suspect a big in the new app, any ideas on this other people with it or potential fixes?

Under Your System, select Update network. <=== This does not appear in Sonos App (did appear in the AppleTV set and and Max updated Wi-Fi Network and working)

Can anyone tell me if Sonos supports lossless streaming from Napster? Definitely a lot of info about Apple Music lossless out there, but I can’t find an answer about Napster. Any help?

Hi Sonos fam -New user since last year and am generally happy with the ecosystem and even the new app (although I am sometimes confused as to where I am exactly when swiping up or down and what thing is playing to what speaker or whatever)…There’s a lot of swiping, screens and icons and sh*t...”View System” takes you to a screen that looks nearly identical to other screens that I would also consider “viewing” the “system”...but anyway...It’s probably my most used app or at least in the top 5......now that NAS is back, I’m using it. I have a simple older SSD attached to a router via USB and it seems to be working at least at the moment. Took a lot of fiddling with my router seetings to figure out how to make it work….I find networking to be needlessly overcomplicated and over-jargonated. I’m trying to see if there is any expanded article/info on using NAS for SONOS. Attn: Sonos CEO Patrick Spence, I’m writing this to give my thoughts on where Sonos has got it wrong with the new app and concerns on the companies direction. I, like many people, are Sonos lovers. It started with one device which convinced me of the dream of a single system running music through the house. We all listen to music in different ways and Sonos fulfilled that. I quickly became a marketing tool for the company because whenever anyone came to my house they would experience it. I was a big endorser of your product. But that’s all charged with the new app. It’s not irreversible which is why I’m writing to you, because I want my Sonos back… The biggest frustration for me with the new app is that I’ve been convinced to have a Sonos in every room, but I now struggle to use Sonos in my bedrooms because the new app initially didn’t include alarms but more so that it doesn’t include the sleep timer. On my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra I have both the Sonos 1 (because of a Play 5) and the Sonos 2 app for two other boxes. When I start the Sonos 1 app it immediately says “Use Sonos S2 app”  with no other option. This is completely stupid because I need Sonos One to make my Play 5 work. The duality between S1 and S2 creates a real mess. Unbelievable that Sonos hasn't been able to build a single app serving all its hardware. Very poor software development.Moreover, I have lots of problems linking my music library (on a NAS). Hard to believe.
