Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

I've been a Sonos user for years (Play:1s, Beam, Move) and an Android developer on the side.I wanted to share a project I recently launched — Sonos Widget Plus, an Android home-screenwidget for controlling Sonos speakers.Sharing here in case it's useful to other Android users on this forum. Disclosure: I'm thedeveloper.**What it does:**- Play / pause / skip and volume control from your home screen- Switch which Sonos room the widget controls with a tap- Group multiple rooms into a playback group- Pin up to 5 Spotify playlists or Sonos favourites for one-tap playback- Fully customisable look (colours and transparency)- Two widget sizes (4x2 and 4x3)**How it connects to Sonos:**It uses the local UPnP protocol over Wi-Fi that Sonos speakers already expose. That means:- No Sonos account needed- No cloud service in the middle- Works whether the music comes from Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Tidal, TuneIn, or line-in- Runs entirely on your local network**Requirements:**- Android 8.0 or later
Current alarm clock settings:- Select a "room"- Select "Include grouped rooms" I would appreciate it if:- Multiple rooms could be selected individually- A group could be selected that is already defined in the settings Room groupings change throughout the day, so it's necessary to check each evening whether the desired rooms are grouped so that the alarm will sound there. With these simple options as an extension, the desired rooms or group for the alarm can be defined precisely and individually. Alarm clock task for the development team:- Multiple room selection- Select group option* Additional task: Individual setting of the turn-on volume of the grouped speakers
I have been waiting since the release of the new feature to disable SonosNet for the toggle to appear in my app. No luck so far, but when I check in play.sonos.com, in System Details, besides the S2 speakers, my old Boost is listed as well. Does anyone know how to remove this S1 device, so there is a possibility to finally get the option to disable SonosNet?
It is clear that Sonos will not be updating the controller to run on Apple silicon. That’s where we are. Using a web based app concerns me:Internet access is not universally good Privacy concerns and the value our choices of music etc have to Sonos to either use or sell on. Our “options” would be a zero sum game. Given that I am almost certainly not alone, there are folk who have third party apps that are more players than controllers, by which I mean many configuration aspects like adding speakers etc. aren’t an option. They just play stuff on Sonos hardware. So, where are we to go once Rosetta gets canned and using a web based app is either unattractive or technically unviable? Recommendations please 🙂
I can’t for the life of me work out how to reorder my Favorites on the Sonos home screen. Can someone please advise?I’ve tried tapping and holding, tapping into “Stations” and tapping “Edit”, but while there are options to remove, I don’t see any way to reorder.Must be missing something obvious. Thanks!
Given that Apple is dropping support for Intel based app later this year is there a plan to provide an apple silicon version of the Sonos app for OS X and if so is there an expected release date?
The title says it all. Many other apps show the position within the file (timestamp) in a large font in the center of the screen while you are scrubbing (dragging the position slider). The reason this is needed is often you will want to drag to skip the first three minutes of a podcast, but your thumb blocks the time stamp.
i updated my MacOS app this morning and it stopped connecting to my Sonos system. My android phone app, my Wifi and Sonos speakers were working just fine so the problem had to be on the Mac itself. Here’s a fix that sorted it - had to resort to Gemini to find this. Am putting it down here for the rest of communityThis is a very common headache with macOS 15. Because your Android app connects without a problem, we know your Sonos speakers and Wi-Fi network are working perfectly. The issue is entirely isolated to how your MacBook Air is managing network permissions for the desktop app. Here are the steps to fix it, ordered from the most likely culprit to the most thorough:1. Toggle the "Local Network" Permission (The Most Common Fix)macOS has a strict security feature that blocks apps from communicating with devices on your local Wi-Fi. Even if the permission toggle looks like it's already enabled, macOS updates notoriously cause this setting to "silently fail." You usually just have to wa
I know this is likely just hollering into the wind at this point, but this remains a recurring issue dating back months and months where updates to Sonos S1 Mac app are continually released with completely invalid/missing version data (see https://en.community.sonos.com/topic/show?tid=6931739&fid=229131 and before that https://en.community.sonos.com/topic/show?tid=6929356&fid=229131)The latest version, as downloaded from https://support.sonos.com/en-us/downloads ➡️ https://www.sonos.com/redir/controller_software_mac ➡️ https://update-software.sonos.com/software/DILU1Q33hC/Sonos_57.23-74170.dmg continues to have no valid CFBundleVersion nor CFBundleShortVersionString values specified within the app’s Info.plist file. When running, the app itself reports multiple types of versions within the “About My Sonos System” window, however none of those have any bearing on what the software reports in macOS itself and thus, more critically, to any patching or management systems attempting
Please can anyone give advice on how to share music from my iPhone with the Sonos app? I’m having difficulty understanding what I need to do and how to do it.
When using the Sonos app on ios i have been unable to add imported playlists to the queue. I can add individual tracks from an imported playlist, and i can add all tracks from an artist, album etc. it’s just imported playlists. I can however add imported playlists via the web app and the app on Windows and OSX. The imported playlists are part of an xml file exported from Apple Music. I know I have previously been able to do this. Any thoughts?
The Sonos app on an Amazon Fire tablet running Fire OS version 7 has limited capabilities. When you open the Sonos app you get the comforting message “App features are limited … Update your mobile devices OS to access all app features”. (Playback is still supported, so that is great!) This is in spite of the fact that Sonos Support appears to indicate that Fire OS 7 is, in fact, a supported OS (https://support.sonos.com/en-us/article/sonos-app-requirements). Does anyone know if the Sonos app is FULLY supported on Fire OS 8? Wondering if a new Fire tablet is in order (if OS 8 is supported) or if I need to move to a different product line entirely for my tablets.
I’ve had Apple App Store app version 8.5.012 since the day it was available.I have not yet received the feature to disable SonosNet.When will the rollout of the feature to disable SonosNet be complete?Others mentioned some ways to “force” the feature to appear, and I’ve tried them all multiple times. It’s now June 5, and I still don’t have the feature. I’ve got a Beam with surrounds, and I’ve had an ethernet cable dangling right behind it ready to plug in for YEARS.
Hi, I have issues with the alarm settings on Android that made it frustrating to use.- Even when select "Include Grouped Rooms", the music does not play on all speakers (sometimes only the one selected, sometimes 2 out of 3).- When leaving the Alarm menu with the "X" button, the alert message "Your changes have not been saved" is displayed even when no changes were made. It makes it an extra step when just checking the current parameters of the alarm without applying any change.- On the other hand, when leaving the alarm by sliding down, the alert message is never displayed making it confusing if the changes were saved or not. Thanks!
How will I be able to update my music library when the desktop app will no longer be supported on Apple Silicon Macs? I don’t see this function within the IOS app.
Hi Sonos,I was wondering, now that Apple has allowed 3rd party devices to stream Dolby Atmos over Airplay 2, you were going to add this support to the Sonos speakers.
Songs downloaded on my iPhone, I was previously able to play on all Sonos speakers. Now AirPlay to Sonos One is not communicating with the other connect amps
In terms of usability and speed I think Sonos should take some cues from hue and bring presets (including a widget to trigger them fast) for specific volume setups. I have all my speakers always in one large group, but I depending where I am mainly atm in my appartment I prefer this area to be a specific volume level compared to the others. It’s always the same level, so a press of a button would be the most efficient way to trigger that specific ratio of volumes levels for all speakers for my situation, but I constantly have to go back, open the app, navigate to volume sliders, fiddle with 6 different sliders, and kind of dial in the ratio I like.it’s unpractical. And it could be so much more convenient. I know there a third party apps for it. But that should be a native featute. Waiting for it for years. Pleaaaase do it. Easy feature, huge benefit.
We have a Port in our office of 100 people that controls the speakers throughout the office and are wondering if there is a device SONOS sells that can be our central device for controlling the Port as opposed to everyone just controlling it off the 100 different phones?
I am just now seeing that so many other SONOS users are having the same issue as we are, Amazon Music Stations have just stopped working with some random error. Has anyone had any update from SONOS on this?
It’s been over a year and app still has the same small view of material playing. The app is designed for an iPad, but it got a view that seems like it was designed for an iPhone. Why? It used to be a large screen format, but that changed over a year ago now we have this itty bitty screen. Seems it’s still small so that’s why I went and downloaded SonosPad, much better. Large screen, plenty of screen to see everything at once. Sonos should look at that application, as it’s what Sonos should have done.
Did a search but everything that came up related to using Airplay. Just interested in seeing if SONOS has or intends on developing a SONOS app like on my iPhone, iPad etc. for the Apple TV? It would be awesome to have that!
We have multiple Port players deployed throughout our building, and some of them are connected using point‑to‑point wireless links. When we contacted support about scheduling music, we were advised to use the alarm feature and were shown how to configure it. We understand this is currently a workaround and not true scheduling. While it’s not ideal—especially for commercial environments—it does generally work. However, we recently ran into a serious issue. One of our point‑to‑point links went down, and during the scheduled time, half of the building began beeping nonstop. This caused a major disruption and understandably upset many users throughout the building. In an alarm scenario, this behavior makes sense—if there’s no internet, the alarm should still sound to wake someone up. But in a music scheduling context, this becomes a real problem. Instead of a silent failure, it creates noise in public and shared spaces, which is unacceptable in a commercial environment and negatively impacts g
Hello- The home I purchased has a Sonos Playbase and ceiling speakers. I need to disconnect prior owners log in to takeover. How?
For a long time, Sonos didn’t make available the alphabetic key at the side of the list of albums in my Music Library but this has since been rectified. Praise the Lord for small mercies. PLEASE give us the option to view our albums in TILE view as opposed to LIST view which is the only option available at this time. Surely this isn’t too much to ask, Sonos.
