Feature Request: Individual Room Grouping for Alarm Clocks

Current alarm clock settings:

- Select a "room"
- Select "Include grouped rooms"

I would appreciate it if:

- Multiple rooms could be selected individually
- A group could be selected that is already defined in the settings

Room groupings change throughout the day, so it's necessary to check each evening whether the desired rooms are grouped so that the alarm will sound there.

With these simple options as an extension, the desired rooms or group for the alarm can be defined precisely and individually.

Alarm clock task for the development team:

- Multiple room selection
- Select group option
* Additional task: Individual setting of the turn-on volume of the grouped speakers

@Sotiris C. & @craigski

Hi everyone 👋

Thanks for the replies, the pointers to similar topics, and for forwarding this to the review - great 👍!

The Sonos settings already include group settings for the speakers/zones. Integrating these groups as selection options in the alarm settings should be straightforward (you simply select a group instead of a speaker – that's all 🤓).

I've been using Sonos since the first products (ZP100 & CR100 😍), and ever since the alarm function was introduced, this has always been a small detail I've been missing, one that would be a huge benefit in daily use (synchronized music in the desired rooms/groups, no need for multiple alarms, no audio delay, fewer settings required, more automation, and more enjoyment 😎).

I would be very happy if the requested features were not only included in the development backlog but also implemented in the next sprint - “Can we fix it? YES, we can!” 💪.

The Sonos system/app is currently running better than it has in a long time - good job! Let's get the most out of the system - "let's do it" 🤗.

Hello @Sotiris C.

I've been testing the Lyd for Sonos app for the past few days. It has a "Scenes" section—you absolutely have to check it out!

Features

  • Group desired rooms with the touch of a button
  • + Define the volume of each grouped speaker
  • + Playback source
  • + Sleep timer
  • + Much more

And the best part is: you can access scenes via Apple Shortcuts! This makes using the Sonos system even more intuitive. You can trigger a scene with an alarm, widget, NFC tag, or even manual input with a single tap, and the desired speakers will play music at the desired volume and source for the desired duration.

Scene Examples

  • Morning: Low volume, rooms: bedroom/bathroom/kitchen, wake-up playlist, 1-hour sleep timer
  • Work: Medium volume, office speakers only, focus playlist
  • Midday: Medium volume, rooms: kitchen/living room, news radio, 1-hour sleep timer
  • Grill'n'Chill: High volume, rooms: kitchen/living room/outdoor seating area, favorite playlist
  • Evening: Low volume, room: children's room, goodnight music, 30-minute sleep timer

Now that Sonos is also available in Apple Shortcuts (Feature Request: Apple Shortcuts for the Sonos App), the scene function in the Sonos app would be the ultimate addition. Whether for the average Sonos app user or the extended/automated version with Apple Shortcuts. If the scenes in the Sonos app could then be linked to the alarm clock, all possibilities would be open!

I'm curious to hear what you and the community think about this and whether you can implement it so quickly. The Scenes feature would bring together the areas "Alarm Clock, Shortcuts, Group Speakers, etc." - all separate areas that already exist in the Sonos app!
