The Sonos app on an Amazon Fire tablet running Fire OS version 7 has limited capabilities. When you open the Sonos app you get the comforting message “App features are limited … Update your mobile devices OS to access all app features”. (Playback is still supported, so that is great!) This is in spite of the fact that Sonos Support appears to indicate that Fire OS 7 is, in fact, a supported OS (https://support.sonos.com/en-us/article/sonos-app-requirements). Does anyone know if the Sonos app is FULLY supported on Fire OS 8? Wondering if a new Fire tablet is in order (if OS 8 is supported) or if I need to move to a different product line entirely for my tablets.

Is the Sonos app FULLY supported on Fire OS 8? (It is NOT on Fire OS 7)

I used the Sonos Support chat to ask my question. It took a bit of back and forth with the chat bot, but eventually it reported that “According to Sonos documentation, Fire OS 7 and higher are officially supported for the Sonos app. However, Sonos also states that only iOS or Android devices are required to set up a new Sonos system or add new products.” Since Fire OS in general does not support setting up a new Sonos system or adding new products, I assume that Fire OS 8 would carry the same warning banner that Fire OS 7 does, that “App features are limited”.
