Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

When Sonos announced the S2 one of the draws for switching over was the support for Hi Res audio due to “increased audio bandwidth.” I can’t be the only one who assumed that this additional bandwidth would allow use of Hi Res streaming services, but apparently this is not the case. The Hi Res support is for local files only. Wondering how others are feeling about this.
I’m a new Spotify member. Can I use crossfade when playing to my Sonos speakers? If not, it’s a pretty useless service for me.
This morning, my ESET Antivirus reported a “suspicious file” found - sonos.controller.desktop.resources.dll and deleted it. So I tried a re-install, the same thing happens during install.

Where are the various “Mix” playlists found under “For You” (ie. Favourites Mix, New Music Mix, Chill Mix...) These are the playlists that are updated weekly under “For You” in Apple Music. The For You area under Apple Music in Sonos, doesn’t seem to have these. Where are they located and can I play them with the Sonos App? Spotify in Sonos shows me my Discover Weekly and Daily Mixes not sure why Apple’s equivalents dont.
I’m not intending to upgrade my Sonos kit anytime soon, as presently it does exactly what I want (and what I paid for). Clearly that means that my particular train has headed down the S1 track, rather than S2 (the only ‘new’ kit I have is a Boost, used to replace a Bridge). Question - has Sonos announced a minimum support period for S1 and associated kit? I’m thinking of something along the lines of “S1 software will be updated to run with new iterations of Windows, iOS and Android for at least 5 years” or similar. Have only asked re OS, obviously other stuff - TuneIn and other services is I guess a trickier question. I do have Play5 with line-in to PC, and a Connect (connected to a gramophone), so even if they pulled all the services from S1 eventually, I would at least be able to pipe music around my Sonos speakers via those two inputs. (Couldn’t find anything on this site by searching “S1 support period” - which I would imagine is the one question on many S1 user minds).
Hi there, I was wondering what’s the proper way to tune the room when you have two sets of speakers in the same room. I’ve got Play 1’s in corners of my Kitchen. I’ve combined these to two stereo pairs and done Trueplay tuning for both. This is not bad, but is there a way to connect 4 speakers and true play them so that all of them would work in… ahem… concert together? (Looks like attaching image didn’t go through so below is a link to the outline of the room)https://www.dropbox.com/s/529ptyhuxkzor58/Screenshot%202020-06-15%20at%2018.46.27.png?dl=0
I just upgraded to S2 and made a couple room groups, but typo’d and mis-selected some speakers. Is there any way to edit and/or delete a room group in the S2 app (Android or Windows)?
I’m a Sonos user from waaaaay back but I now have all modern devices (Play:1 & One SL) in my system. I’ve had many legacy devices over the years that I have gotten rid of. These legacy devices are not shown in About My System in the Android app. However, in my online account, the System tab still shows 5 of these legacy devices (4 Controller 100s & a ZonePlayer 80), and I’m guessing this is why my app recently upgraded to the S1 and not the S2 app. I can’t find any way to remove these devices myself; can it be done, or do I have to contact support?
Will there be a new Windows app for S2? Will the current Windows app still work if I upgrade to S2?
I want to add the Audm app to the apps I can listen to on my Sonos system. How can I do that? https://www.audm.com/
Is anybody else listening to Pandora on their SONOS app (PC windows version) in Australia? Because I AM!! Just not sure how or why, so i’m not game yet to play with it’s settings or even log on to the Pandora website for fear of losing it.
The Sonos app doesn’t show up in my notification settings. I’m unable to receive any notifications from Sonos. I would like to have my alarms show up when they are going off in the morning but that appears impossible.
Does anyone know the bitrate that the new sonos radio curated playlists, ie the new Thom Yorke one, are streaming at? Why can't sonos just add a bitrate to the player and save having to email support all the time! Its such an omission for streaming player. With modern internet there is no excuse for less than 320 streaming in my view.
In order to save songs I started using the “My Sonos” menu at the lower left bottom of the page. With me so far? I did not import playlists or anything from iTunes I would simply play a song and using the three little dots, save the song to “My Sonos.” My Sonos has a limit to the number of songs you can save. That is now full. I saved the songs using Napster to stream. I have since started using Tidal and no longer use Napster. Since Sonos doesn’t play a saved song from a deleted service, I thought I would delete the individual songs and replace them with Tidal versions. ( I realize I could just start Napster again) There appears to be no way to delete the songs? Have looked through Sonos help Libraries and can find nothing. Why isn’t delete, an option in the 3 little dots menu? Again, nothing imported from iTunes or my Mac. Simply saved songs In Sonos that can’t be deleted. Do I have to start Napster again to be able to delete the songs? This is a basic set up using Play 1s and a
I’m wondering if before I update my system to the S2 whether certain products which are compatible at present will cease to be supported on it in the future? I have a number of Play 3s which are a relatively old product now in the Sonos line up. Is it possible Sonos would not provide updates for them forcing me to upgrade or would they come up with S3 and exclude older products from that?
If you were like me, for the past month or so I couldn’t connect Spotify to my Sonos speakers. This morning I went into my ORBI app and noticed there was new firmware for the router as well as satellites. The new firmware version, 2.5.1.16, has seemed to resolve all connection problems I was previously having. I’m going to continue to test this but all is fixed as of now!
Hello, does anyone found sound difference with new enlarged broadband on Sonos S2 when playing vinyls? Do you know if S2 now support MQA from Tidal? I saw that casting Tidal to Sonos from Tidal app, converts Master to Hifi Quality. I noticed a substancial difference instead comparing Apple Music VS Qobuz, meaning that there IS a difference with new enlarged broadband if the systems support the format.
I have no intention of moving to S2 since I have too many devices that are Not compatible; however, I like to group them for music. I am also gifting a device I do NOT use to a friend who just needs a nice connected speaker. How do I remove a single device from my system to do that on the S1? I did this in the past when I got rid of my controller, but can’t figure out how to do it now...
If Sonos have abandoned the Windows controller (and with it a large number of users who paid for a product) then please consider putting the code into a public repo at Github. This will allow technically minded users to maintain the application. There are a huge number of very experienced and able Windows software developers - myself included - (I also developed a .Net Sonos API and have some serious insights to this). I paid for a product, I’m a software developer and work at my Windows PC a great deal, this is the world I live in, not Android, not Apple and was one of the attractions of Sonos at the time I made my purchase. If we’ve been abandoned or sidelined then I see no reason to remain a loyal Sonos user and will simply dump the product.
In case anyone was interested, the audio lag when watching videos / youtube / music using Airplay from a Mac/ OSX has been resolved with Sonos S2. You can also send airplay to multiple Sonos speakers (although this was possible previously). When watching Youtube / any video content, select one of the Sonos speakers from the main apple sound menu (speaker top right in OSX). You will only be able to select a single speaker here, but if you go into the Sonos App (on the desktop or iphone / android) you can then group speakers with the original speaker selected on the mac, and set the independent speaker volumes etc.
Hello, Agenda: Chromecast support on Sonos. I’ve been reading through this forum about this topic, and basically can’t find any clear answer - apart from ‘we’ll pass this request to developers’. As an iPhone user I know I can use Airplay however I don’t find it a very good solution; I get a phone call, music stops, walk out the house, music stops, not to mention my battery constantly draining. Additionally as good (in its own way) the Sonos app is, many services don’t give their respective platforms enough attention, rather spending it on their native apps - many of which support Chromecast. e.g. I often find myself on Soundcloud native iOS app, find a set I want to listen, but then have to go into Sonos’s app and search it again. Similar use case with YouTube music, and Youtube in general, need to use Airplay. So I’d like to ask: Are there are Sonos developers here who could comment on the challenges of implementing Chromecast and what the potential timeline of release (if its realist
This behaviour started a month or so ago. Its pretty annoying Diagnostic sent > 396349532 This usually happens if the app is opened after being closed for many hours, after being closed the night before, or when its open and no streaming has occured for many hours. 1 tap to open Sonos App on my iPhone 7plus (latest upgrade for both) 2 app opens to My Sonos but the main screen is grayed out and each item that is greyed out is flashing. My Sonos is set with Recently Played then Stations (there are others but those are the only two visible when opening the app). 3 if i click on <rooms> or <browse> then back to <My Sonos> then the flashing is stopped and the items show instead of being greyed out. 4 as long as I keep it open for that priod of use it will be fine 5 sometimes if its been open for hours and not used (nothing streaming). then when tap or switch to it, the same behaviour happens. and yes i have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. no
If I upgrade my compatible speakers to S2, is it possible to then move them back to S1 (so they can be used again with my older units) or are they forever S2? And is it a headache to switch them back? Ideally I’d like to be able to keep all my speakers on S1, and then on occasion use a few of them on S2 and then go back to S1. My guess is that won’t be an easy process.
Finally pulled the trigger on replacing the remaining Legacy components in my set up, at least the critical ones. This was a tough and close decision for me. The Legacy decision almost forced me to walk away from Sonos. This purchase consisted of just south of $3000.00 for 6 new amps (after discounts). The extended Plan was to just junk the remaining residuals of my stuff for now, and add and restructure with some other options as we go. This purchase would keep the party going so to speak. Shipping and packaging was awesome, got me pretty excited before I even opened the boxes. Install and connection was an absolute nightmare. Every unit couldn't be discovered for multiple attempts, the controller app would freeze and lock up on numerous occasions, Reboots, resets, and reattempts galore. And I am not talking once or twice here either. So after multiple HOURS - yes multiple HOURS, to get 6 new amps swapped out and recognized, still nothing wanted to communicate properly. Grouping is p
